Remember when we were laughing about Star Citizen NPCs standing on chairs?

I just looked at few youtube polls about EDO.

First one - so far the option that splitting player base further is unacceptable.
Second - release should be postponed till full launch is getting fourty plus percents which is around all other 4 options combined.
Third - hard preference toward a clear announcement of the plans for development with roadmap.

Noooooooooo.

I guess I will have to actually talk to my family or summat instead.

As an aside, that will probably write off Thursday (at least) for patches too. My family will be very suspicous of my sudden interest.

On the brightside the pubs are back open on Monday.

And what would happen if someone dropped in the instance with This kind of FGS blowed that Keelback, cobra and DBS then bombed the $#1t out of this settlement?
Would you had fun?

Sorry but FPS in a on-foot is a joke compared to full FPS titles.

I'm encouraged that you actually watched it at least. That video was the first day I played phase 2. I didn't encounter many missile spammers at that point. I blew up plenty of missile spammers in phase 4. Mayhem, funny builds and counter tactics are what open play is all about. I have evaded missile barragers on foot by taking hard cover indoors and shot down ships with turrets, lasers and missile launchers. Thinking through how you can get to your ship quickly enough if enemy show up and thinking through your escape plans or countermeasures is part of the fun and gives you good reason to keep an escape pilot in the cockpit or someone monitoring contacts carefully while the ground team does the business.

If we didn't have the freedom to do all these terrible things, we couldn't have the satisfaction of pulling off awesome things. It will take tweaking to get the balance right between the base, vehicle, foot and ship elements but this has hybrid elements of Tarkov, Battlefield and a persistent galaxy of ships that has no equal. Comparing it to Call of Duty is missing the point of combining these elements to make things possible in Odyssey that can't be done anywhere else.

It may not be to everyone's taste but I stopped playing other shooters during the alpha and with some criticism and rebalancing after release it could become really great.

I completely agree with you on this. I played so much of Odyssey in Phase one that I completely ignored my main account and worked on a character that wasn't going to matter in the long run just because I enjoyed the ground play so much. Then come phase 2 when they introduced the conflict zones I once again found myself getting sucked into it and having a blast. I skipped phase 3&4 because I wanted to start working on my main account again and I ended up getting a fleet carrier there and now I'm grinding up materials so that way I can upgrade my stuff next week on release. I'm very excited for Odyssey and I can't wait to see where it will go from here.

Glad to hear you had a similar positive experience with the ground fighting. Doing ground missions with a team was my favorite, as our pilot could engage ships and CAS against any players who tried to drop in on us. I found CZs where players showed up to be interesting matches remniscent of Titanfall where you could instantly spot a player when they started high speed maneuvering with jetpack jumps and you could sneak up on players by standing with a ground squad as though you were a grunt. I ended up recruiting the best CZ pvp opponents into a team so we could take on the harder zones. High intensities had such tanky enemy shields it was like fighting titans on foot with G1 weapons against G5 grunts.

I've also set up a carrier and started maxing farming as we may lose some of our farming sources and be too busy chasing the new armor/weapon mats and engineers to want to farm the ship mats and builds we can get out of the way in advance. Also, I think xeno will be a big part of Odyssey and there's currently a Thargoid invasion with conflict zones will of hydras and basilisks, so it seems like a good time to get started with anti-xeno action and ship builds to be ready for that as well.

SalmoneaDoes anybody know about some unlocking well known permit areas with Odyssey update?

Given that we were locked to 60ly bubble, I doubt anyone have such knowledge.

We will see next week. I personally do not expect to see any difference with alpha content untill release on consoles.

I really, really, really don't want to be in charge of that netcode. Oh boy, this is going to be a wild ride for a couple of weeks after launch.
