Its not supposed to worth an effort its so players can stop skipping from one faction to another to collect modules
Youre supposed to pick a side and stick to it now that we have no reason to leave for prismatics etc.

It is worth, the grind is there but u have access to every unique weapons and modules. Before we were like: Oh i'll do nothing 4 weeks and get free item and repeat that 10 times which took long anywayz

My hot take (which really shouldn’t be one) is that the system was designed to reward long-term player engagement with it but because people want “the shinies” now and have no interest in Powerplay otherwise they all began shouting how it was “grind” and “takes too long”, yada yada.

I say this as someone thoroughly uninterested in the mode and what it offers, and thus would not play it even if there are “shinies” (that worked out great for those who were lured by Salvation’s carrot, did it not).

Not worth until they ironed out everything. Year old Exploits are back, Merits are being diminished to no end for if you sell regular Commodities more then 10 Units at a time, while Rares and Power Commodity trading actually require you to sell it in bulk to make the most Merits. And let's not start about the real Elephant in the Room where you can blow through the Ranks.

There's currently a Competition between a few Knobheads going on who is going to surpass the ones who already completed their Powerplay after the first Cycle, using the known Exploit. Systems getting reinforce or undermine bombed like crazy left and right, while all this is making the BGS go bonkers with pushing the Controllers into Expansion everywhere, and causing Retreats all over too.

EDIT: Strip those Kn0bheads of everything
Send them to a prion ship and give them a Sidewinder so they can get back and start from 0.

Doubt that's going to happen. When Exploits were used in the Past, not many if any at all got punished. And even if that'll happen, doubt FDev is going to reset everything back to zero with Powerplay 2.0. Would be very surprising to say the least.

Here is another bizarre rendering error in Odyssey.


Rocks that pop out of the ground or sink are common, this is something new.

Ugh, the terrain discontinuity bug again. It used to be pretty common at some point in Horizons, but I have very rarely seen it in Odyssey.

You might want to check your graphics card drivers, because the bug has been reported to be related to driver versions at least in some cases. If you have old graphics drivers, try updating them; if you have updated them recently, try perhaps going to older ones.

Naah.. I am not going to F around with graphic drivers because much more important software (everything else) works fine. It's ED bug. Let them fix it.

System is up to date, uses what ever the stable version is in the depository.
Funny artifacts in the game are amusing but irrelevant. How else can we find a floating bolder in a narrow gorge or massive "wheel tracks" visible from 2 km up.

This right here is my beef with continually trying to get into this game over like, the better part 10 years now.

Frontier has this established habit of putting hilariously low effort into a feature release, for reasons I cannot understand (seriously, I do this job too and can't figure out their dev schedule). Then when it comes out, there's some kind of "gold rush" of an exploit. People who can no life the game complete said gold rush, then it gets patched out, which seems to be the final effort each time on that feature.

From there, they then BALANCE that progression around the gold rush. We have many examples but none more prominent than fleet carriers. This, each time, further buries the potential of new players behind escalating credit amounts to experience release features. These fixes then get white-knighted on the forums by the same people over and over, and the player numbers fall off.

Most frustrating is the severe lack of competition. There is, at present, no other viable game that can match elite for being a multiplayer capable, persistent world spacefaring game with hotas support, a completed coregame, and open world progression. It feels like a mvp (minimum viable product) to an extreme though. At this point I truly cannot tell if they have boxed themselves in via architecture, or if they have lost the staff necessary to affect major change.
