By comparison, this same hardware runs DCS World at 60+ fps at 1080p with no slowdowns or stuttering, even in high action.
You're either an outlier or just a liar.

Jaime WardI've got a Ryzen 2700X, 32 gb of RAM, an RTX 2080 - and I still get less than 30 fps in settlements, less if there's a fight going on.

The sad thing is that even if you set graphics to low you won't see any improvement. The performance of Odyssey did improved till update 5 and each update after made it worst. Currently it feels as alpha bad, IMO.

KluugI do agree gameplay could be better, but historically Fdev does added things to the game very periodically, always has. Some of it is good, some not so good. I mean I would love to simply have the ability to "lean" around a corner when on foot. Things like that. However, I see now that Fdev is doing two things they haven't done before: One, better communication and two, adding things that being requested based on the number of requests they receive. These are positive developments for Fdev.
I just want 2 things. For engineering to not feel like a job that I had to pay for as opposed to getting paid, and to own and pilot my own Majestic. Things like "leaning around corners" I don't exactly need. That was more of a Rainbow 6 Siege thing. The ridiculous on foot engineering grind is what has kept me from even bothering with it so far. Grinding out all that I have so far, I sit back and look at it and question what it was all for anymore. Yeah now I have a Cutter with near invincible shields, or my Corvette for PvE. But all engineering really did was make it so my ships were still relevant. In PvE, you get to higher levels and the enemies are engineered. So unless your ship is also engineered, it is no longer relevant for those fights. But at the end of the day, it didn't really change much of anything as far as what we actually do.

Yeah, ground conflict zones are virtually unplayable. 30fps average with frequent stutters and drops to under 10fps. Absolutely abysmal performance and unacceptable in any game, let alone an FPS situation.

KurakilI've been getting Black Adder errors on my first disembark at a settlement every day. Is it just me?
I was getting really long lag spikes (10 seconds of no movement) and the odd disconnect last night.

KurakilJust got a 25 million payout for a single ground conflict zone. Not bad, even though I died a time or two. I think I'm liking dual rockets.
You should like the fact that you resurrect after you died.

I thought I heard about a fix for this in either update 6 or 7. The odd thing though is that I didn’t have this problem till the latest update came out.

Willie MitchellHello, First of all, I’d like to say, I’m ok with the Odyssey update. I’ve looked at the new features but I haven’t done any of it yet. However, I’m having some issue with the old game play. Mining is one of my favorite forms of play but something is wrong. When I use any tool such as, lasers, sub-surface, or core explosives, one or two rocks would get stuck in the asteroid due to the asteroid rotating to a “high” point that consumes the rock instead of pushing it out into space. Similar to what I can do with my ship if I hit a rock I’ve mined. Before, all I had to do was wait for the asteroid to rotate and the rock would pop out and then I could scoop it up. Now, that does not work anymore. After I wait for the asteroid to rotate to a crevasse and the rock pops out, I can’t scoop it up. On top of that, those trapped rocks are taking limpets too. When a limpet is locked on to a trapped rock, it zombies out and spins and goes in circles around the trapped rock. I have to have noticed the limpet is in trouble in order to save it by setting the ore sample to “Ignore”. Otherwise, the limpet expires and dies.
I thought I heard about a fix for this in either update 6 or 7. The odd thing though is that I didn’t have this problem till the latest update came out.
Firstly, always start at the pole of the asteroid so the movement of the asteroid is minimal to your ship.
Then try to pick a deflection point so the rocks shoot out from the asteroid and don't get hit by a larger side which is swinging in behind it. This will make it easier and safer for the limpets to do their job.
Good mining should be fast and efficient, if a piece gets trapped then move on to another asteroid and get the trapped one out of range so the limpets give up on trying to suicide into it.

AWESOME! Thank you for TIP. Heading out now to try this out. . .
