Elite: Odyssey

I rarely use SRVs for exobio these days. With my iCourier or my Dolphin I can mostly land on top of anything. If I use one, I always take the Scorpion, much more fun than the Scarab.

RawnuI really wish there was some engineering option for the genetic sampler of the Artemis suit. Talking about the Artemis, did you engineer that suit? I did (g5) with night vision, increased jump and battery, as well as the increased sprint duration.

I only use the Artemis for scanning plants and consider nearly all engineering mods for it aside from night vision to be useless. Even then, 90% of the time I am looking for plants on the day side of the planet because I find it easier to spot things at a distance from the ship when there is light. I don't care about battery, air supply, tracking range, etc if the only time spent outside the ship or srv is just enough time to hop out, do a scan, and jump back in the vehicle.

Increased sprint duration and jump is pretty neat, makes it faster to run (up) to stuff. And as I said, I rarely use the SRV, so it's me jumping out the ship and scanning things.

Stuffing Thargoids with probes may be fun, but it isn't as personal as it might be. What about poking them with a bio-scanner?

I use ASP Explorer. Avatar cant run much and walks too slowly. So, some of the stuff is easier to access with SRV, hop out, scan, back in and off you go. Also, SRV shows where the materials are.

With increased sprint duration, your body is moving a lot faster. And it takes longer to get the SRV out, drive to stuff, get out of the SRV, scan, get back in, drive back to ship, board ship – then just getting out the ship yourself. This requires a small landing footprint though, with a medium ship you will have a hard time (especially with the ASP, although it's a tad better in this regard than the Phantom). Dolphin is probably king/queen for this kind of gameplay.

For me the best Ship for Exobiology is the DiamondExplorer. Mine has a jump distance of 78 light years and can land anywhere in the Mountains. Beneficial for Fungoida that are only found in the Mountains. Not even ASP Explorer can keep up.

Materials. Try potatoes!

Sure it can. SRV.

My ExoBio setup is Grade 5 suits/weapons + Dolphin.

Fly, land, scan, run/jump to next scan (if less than 300m) otherwise... take-off and repeat.

SRV.
Kartoffeln!

That's your point about the SRV and I accept that. But as Rawnu described, collecting samples with an SRV is simply slower than doing it from a ship. Furthermore, the ASP Explorer is not that well suited for landing in mountains and its range simply does not come close to that of the DiamondExplorer. I have Elite III rank in Exobiology and have enough experience collecting samples.

Do you have increased sprint duration on your suit? Because that was a game changer for me. I will also put this on my Dominator suit. Being able to run for longer is fantastic.

I have sprint duration on my mav suit for running around and looting abandoned settlements. Running around does not fit my death from above ground fighting style, so my PVE dom suit has.
Extra ammo
Battery capacity
Night vision
Jump assist

I tend to stay on top of buildings, so the jump assist helps with high grav planets and making longer than normal jumps. The ammo and battery cut down on the ammo and power refreshes. I've not done any ground PvP, but for that I'd likely have a suit where I replace the extra ammo and jump assist with damage resistance and faster shield refresh.

Jump assist is a must have on all suits. My sniper suit however is a Maverick, my Dominator still has one mod left and I was wondering if it’s gonna be battery or sprint. Say, what is your fav kinetic weapon? (if you use any of them)

I go with the AR50 because DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA. My preferred engineering is:
Headshot
Stowed reloading
Scope
Greater range

Once I burn down the shields with a TK, this makes short work of the target.
