Elite roleplay: The docks

THE DOCKS (Dockyards)

The Docks is where all pilots berth their ships. It is the first place that pilots find themselves upon landing their ship. Docking and launching is controlled by the Citi Gateway’s Traffic Controllers while each individual dock is controlled by a dockmaster and a team of orange clad dock crew workers.

The Docks is a sparse and desolate, 0.1G environment, littered with service vehicles, cranes and landing pads. While cool, the air is dry and lightly filled with the smell of burnt metal and ship grease. Public Service Announcements blare across the the docks reminding all pilots of station regulations. The docks contain 45 individual ship docks, several warehouses storing massive tank of hydrogen fuel, and standard shipping containers of cargo, the dock’s traffic control tower and the local pilot’s market which resides in one of the warehouses.

Ship docks
Each specific dock has a landing pad, a ship hangar and adjoining terminal. In each terminal there is a passenger waiting area, the dockmaster’s control tower and several dock crew vehicle bay.

Warehouses
If the docks were already unpopulated, warehouses would be completely vacant of anyone if not for a small handful of security staff. Warehouses are completely automated and highly guarded facilities as they contain massive amounts of valuable and flammable material.
"Loitering is a crime punishable by death" - Station Announcements

Pilot's Market
The pilot’s market is best described as a tourist trap for pilots. Every person who’s not a pilot is trying to guile a pilot to part with their credits.

"The station administrators would like to remind all pilots that transactions in the pilot’s market are not protected by Citi Gateway or The Bank of Zaonce" - station announcements

General Roleplay Etiquette:

1. Control only the actions of your own character(s). (AKA: God Mode)
This doesn't matter how small the action is, even if it is as simple as scratching their nose or a direct reaction to something else that just happened. This applies to everything from casual conversation to full blown fight scenes. If you'd like someone to do something specific, PM that person, however keep in mind they are completely within their rights to say no. Especially if said action is inappropriate to their character and/or circumstance.

2. Don't brute force your way into another persons RP.
Approaching with a conversation starter is fine, or indeed some other small action. However charging in, guns blazing and disrupting the flow of another person/pair/groups conversation/arc is about as rude as doing so in real life. If something is going on that you'd like to participate in, be subtle about it. Put out a gentle hook for someone to take, but again, be aware that said hook may not be taken. If you fear it was simply unnoticed, PM the person or people it concerns. Or even leave a message in the OOC forums.

3. Good grammar and spelling is preferred.
We're not asking you to be perfect, but please at least demonstrate willingness. no1 iz gna tak u srsly usng txt spk. There's a wide variety of people here, many who speak English as a second, or even third language. There are even some with varying degrees of dyslexia and/or likely other issues that affect spelling/grammar. We accept them all here. However, people who aren't accepted, are those unwilling to accept polite correction. Remember that even a small thing like the placement of a comma, or the wrong use of there/their/they're can completely change the definition of an entire sentence.

4. Accept constructive criticism gracefully and politely.
If someone spots an issue with your writings, they may wish to help you improve that writing. They may do this through PM or even publicly air their thoughts on the OOC forum. If they have taken the time to be polite and explain what is wrong with your writing, the best way to behave is to respond in kind, using the same manner they have approached you with. It means they have taken an active interest in what you have written and wish to see more. Basically, you have a fan!

5. Don't take the actions or opinions of things done IN RP, to be directly relevant to the writers thoughts or opinions.
Basically, if some ones character calls your character a jackass, it doesn't mean the writer thinks you are a jackass. It's a ROLE they are PLAYING. Watch a movie. The argument between the characters isn't an argument between the actors involved. The same applies here.

6. It's not a popularity contest.
Your RP might be bustling with participants. You have 3 people off station in a fire fight, while another 2 are infiltrating the darkest areas of the station, meanwhile a group of 4 others are tracking your movements in an effort to stop you. Good for you, I'm sure it will be a thrilling read! But you know what? Sometimes the absolute BEST work, comes from two RP characters having a simple heart to heart. Both are valid, both are great, but NEITHER is categorically better than the other. Period.

Inara RP Etiquette:

1. Respect the setting and rules of the universe.
Inara is an Elite: Dangerous 3rd Party Tool. The RP Forums are set in the Elite: Dangerous universe. Elite: Dangerous has rules, as any fictional universe does from Lord of the Rings to Star Wars, or Game of Thrones to Star Trek. If you intend to RP within the Elite: Dangerous universe you are bound by the history and rules of that universe. Simply put, this RP forum is bound by the same rules as the game, so if it can't be done in the game, it is not permitted here. This applies to things from a 50Ly Jump Range on a normal, unmodified Sidewinder, to the destruction of entire stations.

2. Respect the characters created by others.
We have a wide variety of characters already here. It's expected that some will be similar, just as it's expected that two characters will be vastly different. Opinions of each persons character will naturally be varied, but all are valid provided they follow the rules of the universe. You are allowed to interact with, or avoid interaction with, any character in the RP forums. But you have no right to belittle others for their creation. You are not an authority figure on writing, nor are you directly affected by another persons imagination. You might not like it, but you MUST respect it.

3. Be caught up on current events before joining in.
You need basic things like character descriptions in order to interact with them. You also need to know what's going on in the surrounding areas. This is simply because the people you are hoping to RP with, might be gearing up to something that you might not want to be part of. Or simply that the most recent post, out of context, could leave a different impression on the goings on than if you gather that context. We don't expect you to read every single post from the beginning of the forums, just enough to get that basic understanding.

4. Either subscribe to, or frequently check, the Roleplay: Q&A and OOC forum.
People may be discussing something relevant to you there, or even discussing you directly. Perhaps someone asked what the general consensus on the existence or non-existence of a certain object. Or we're just chatting about random gibberish. Either way, be aware of it and use it. If you're unsure about something, such as how guns would look and or behave, or even the music selection, use the OOC forum to ask. We don't have all of the answers, but the collective knowledge and logic usually allows us to overcome an issue and come to a decision on what should be allowed. Frontier Developments, and even David Braben himself, don't have the answers to every possible question that can be asked.

5. Large Scale events exploding out of nowhere are a complete no go.
We get it. Everyone wants their character to be noticed and for people to be tripping over themselves to interact with them. In some audiences, an introduction involving you blasting in for landing in a fiery wreckage of a ship, before cart wheeling out and sword fighting 35 Ninjas before whisking off with the local celebrity for a glorious night of passion, is in fact, cool. This is not one of those audiences. It is generally considered better to build your character up slowly over time. Eventually, you might even have a legitimate excuse to fight those Ninjas. Maybe even with other RP participants by your side.

6. Perfect characters are boring.
The point of a character arc, is that it is in fact, an arc shape. One who is morally unquestionable, fully kitted out and an infinite fountain of knowledge, cannot go through an arc. Give your character flaws. Be it a tendency towards befriending the wrong people, or a bad knee that frequently gives out at inopportune moments. It gives readers something to latch onto and empathise with. You can give your character exceptional capabilities at something, but it requires balance. She's a damn good pilot with no equal, but can't drive an SRV for peanuts. It can lead to some very interesting moments between characters, be it heartfelt or comedic.

Other Notes:
It should be noted that there can be exceptions to these points. For example, good grammar when a character is speaking is actually rare. Few people in real life actually speak with perfect eloquence after all. Or previously arranged actions during a fight scene, such as someone stumbling back after a punch. What's key to remember is context.

All in all, remember this is purely for fun. We have some seriously talented writers here, and others whose writing history starts and ends at high school. But many are willing to help out in whatever way they can. All it takes is that you ask nicely.

Also keep in mind that many people who RP here, also have logbook stories related to the character, or characters, they portray. If it looks like there's an "in joke" going on that you're unsure of, it's probably in those.

In fact, some users have even gone to the trouble of creating "alts" to RP with. If you read back far enough, it's usually pretty clear who has and hasn't, and which ones are the "alts". It's therefore not unheard of to see the apparent seizing of control of other characters. If you do spot one, point it out in the OOC section. If intervention is needed, it will be sorted quickly and (hopefully) politely.

Most, if not all RP participants here have Logbook stories pertaining to their character(s). These are for the reading pleasure of anyone who wishes to do so. While it can be useful to read them in order to gain a bit of backstory on a character you wish to interact with, it should not be assumed that your character shares that knowledge. Within the E:D Universe, these Logbooks either don't exist, or are private diaries kept by the characters. Either way, without explicit statements to say otherwise from the writer, your interactions should reflect that your character is in the dark about any information you, the writer/reader, have gained from reading the stories.

"Le Marshmallow a accosté monsieur. Dois-je préparer votre salle de toilettage?" said Creamys' computer-assistant.

"What? Meows' ship? Are you sure?" asked Creamy sending another container of produce down the loading ramp.

"Oui Monsieur. Immatriculation AX313M. Certainement enregistré auprès de madame Muir, monsieur"

"Sorry chaps" called Creamy to the ground crew "You'll have to carry on without me. An emergency has come up, I need a manicure, stat!" called Creamy retreating into the depths of his ship.

He hurriedly got clean and cleansed, then quickly got ready for a trip to the Galactic. By Creamys' standards, two and a half hours of preening and selecting the right suit was the equivalent of taking a quick shower and throwing on something from the top of the wash pile.

The Always Lost entered the station, barely above the minimum taxi speed, and made its way to its assigned landing pad, conspicuously alight with spinning red and yellow emergency lights. The ship hovered above the pad, its keel thrusters growling in a losing effort at a soft landing when the thrusters flamed out, causing the ship to drop the last meter to the deck.

“Cacat!” cursed Vasil, feeling like his spine compressed a few centimeters when the ship slammed down. He immediately engaged the emergency docking clamps to stabilize the ship. The electromagnets spun up power and locked the ship to the deck with a reverberating, Thoom!

Vasil took a deep breath and started unlatching the harness holding him tight to the pilot’s seat.

“Commander,” said Jefferson, “the Port Engineer has requested ship self-diagnostics.“ Jefferson paused for a second then added in that calm, disconcerting way voice assistants had of delivering unnerving information. “Given the extensive energy weapon damage to the reactor, there are concerns about a possible powerplant detonation.”

Vasil shrugged off the harness and proceeded to power down the ship. “Yeah, I suppose a few coats of wax and good buffing is not going to fix this.”

“I am sorry, Commander, I do not understand your response. Shall I schedule the ship for repainting?”

“No. Release the logs and ready a priority message to Octavia Vasilescu.”

Jefferson paused for a few seconds then said, “Logs released. Ready for message.”

“Octavia, I am back in the bubble but ran into Thargoids while transiting Pegasi Sector. Will take a few days to patch things up. “ Vasil stood and stretched. “End message. Send”

“Message sent.”

Vasil looked around the cockpit. The smell of burned electronics and ozone lingered in the air. Through all of the years of flirting with black hole event horizons, of hard landings on high grav planets, of fried FSD circuits from jet cone charging the drives, the Always Lost had never been this beat up. All just to save two jumps to Cemiess by going through Thargoid controlled space. He patted the pilot chair’s headrest. “Don’t worry, old girl, I’ll get you fixed up. You just rest for a bit. As for me, I need a damn drink.”

An Imperial Cutter sporting an azure paint scheme was preparing to take off, its pilot in a hurry to leave the station after a short, and not very restful night of sleep inside the ship, almost colliding with another impatient transport pilot who’d chosen an inopportune moment to try entering the port.

She wasn’t sure of the destination, but one thing was certain - it would be far removed from the station, the previous night, and the circumstances that had led her to be there.

Hangar 12 Memento Mori

Jules places a breaching charge on one of the service ports on the hull of Memento Mori. There is a small blast and the hullbis opened up. Smoke fills the hangar and Verity sounds the alarms.

'Boss says the cargo on this ship needs to be handled with care. Don't know what it is but he said we would know once we saw it.'

'OK I'll stand watch while you search the ship.'

Melli hears the explosions from the breaching charges and sneaks around to investigate. She pokes her head around the corner and spots Jules entering through the service port. Chattering to herself quietly she ducks back and runs down the corridor and looks for a place to hide.

I make it to the hangar and see a woman slip inside my ship. I take a look around and spot a male about 6ft tall 250lbs standing watch with a hand held plasma accelerator. I draw my pistol knowing they were here for Melli. I sneak around the cargo boxes and make my way behind the male. I aim down the sights of my pistol and fore. The round strikes the man in the head and he collapses to the ground lifeless. Taking care not to make too much noise I enter the ship.

Inside the ship Jules spots Melli running away and knows immediately that this was her target. She pursues the creature and eventually gets it cornered. Melli pins her ears back and snarls baring her teeth and growling profusely. Jules takes a step forward and Melli lunges forwards in an attempt to scare her off. Jules keeps moving closer.

'Verity where is the intruder?'

'Deck B crew lounge. Melitta is there as well.'

'Thank you Verity.'

I make my way to the crew lounge on board my ship just as Melli lunges at Jules in an attempt to bite her. Jules reacts and snatches Melli out of the air with her cybernetic arm. She pulls out a black Kevlar sack with her other hand and shoves Melli into it securing it firmly. I see Melli dissappear into the bag just as I make it to the lounge. The moment I see the cybernetics I recognize who it is.

'You! Drop the bag now! I won't ask twice!'

Jules turns and glares at me. The fire in her eyes tells me she is not willing to listen to me.

'I care nothing for you anymore. You.... you made this happen. If you want your precious little pet back you'll have to kill me. My boss is offering a pretty penny for this little creature because of the chip inside its head. If I get yours too they will pay me double.'

Afraid of what is happening Meli begins to thrash around in the bag. Chatters and screams are mostly muffled but still audible. I catch a small amount of what the creature is trying to convey.

Melli is ....... Kill...... let me out..... dont like the dark stinky bag...... scared..... Silvia help.....

I aim down the sights of my pistol and fire. The round strikes Jules just about the wrist taking off her hand causing her to drop the bag. I aim again and fire at her chest. A large singed hole forms as the round tear through her leaving behind charred flesh and bone. I fire a third round at this point just beyond angry at this woman for everything she caused. A fourth round strikes her in the neck decapitating her and causing her body to fall to the floor. Lifeless, blood spurting out from the wounds and covering the deck in red.

I rush over and open the bag containing Melli and pulling her out. I pull her tight against my chest and hug her tears falling down my face as I look over her ensuring she had not been injured. She stops struggling once she realizes it is me holding her and not the lady who just tried to steal her.

Stupid Thief... you deserved this

I walk off the ship and contact station security to inform them of the breach. Melli and I return to the Galactic Bar. A deep level of concern on my face as we walk back.

I returned to the station the same day, even though it was contrary to my original plan, and rather late, but I wasn't able to sleep because of the mood I was in - partly, at least. The Cutter's paint looked significantly more worn than it had been when I left, and burn marks from caustic Thargoid weaponry a little all over the hull, primarily along the top, gave some indicator to what I'd been doing.

I ran a quick check for whichever damage had been done, but most of it was limited to negligible scrapes on the hull, and a few dents in modules - the prismatic shield still proved its worth, even with the Glaives running around a little all over, and the caustic sink at least stopped the corrosive substance of caustic missiles from eating through the hull completely. Looking at it from an external camera view, I sighed.

"EDI, get an order for some repairs on this ship placed. And maybe some new paint, too."

"Of course, Kira.", the AI replied.

'Do they offer it in black?', I wondered, keeping it as a thought in my head, then stood up from the pilot's chair.

I had places to be - though I checked local security reports for anything suspect first. Nothing in particular jumped to my eye, until the internal station report had one attempted breach logged, in the docking bay where I'd been with Silvia less than a day ago, the same ship still parked there. Nothing to concern me personally, but it still made me up my pace a little as I dumped my Artemis suit in the ship's locker to have that be taken care of. No serious damage was on it, but a few sparks had still landed on it, and left some unwanted marks. Then I left the ship and headed further into the port.

It was never ending. He'd only tried to make the lot of the workers a little better, and now Creamy was on almost constant cargo run. The Citi staff ate like an army.

"Message de Mlle Muir monsieur. Dois-je vous le lire?" said Ninettes voice from Creamys' chest area.

"No thank you Nineete, its probably just a good bye" said Creamy taking his holo-slate from his jacket.

vodan armed in bar marshmallow airlock code mwr2574-2210nmr

"Oh" said Creamy. What's a Vodan he thought to himself.

rifle and pistol strapped to seat get them here

"Right" She wanted her weapons, and she'd let Creamy on board the Marshmallow to get them. He never imagined she'd let him on board again. Vodan must be serious.. what ever it was.

Sprinting down to Marshmallows' birth, Creamy called security, and got a line dead response. Then he got a call from Meowers.

"Hello, Creamy. There's a man in the bar looking for you. And he's quite angry. Maybe you should pay attention."

So Vodan was a man, and the patrons of the bar hadn't taken him out? That was odd.

"Oh I'm paying all the attention as quick as I can Mrs Muir. Do let me know what I can do for the chap, and it will be done" said Creamy as he flew like a bullet at the airlock of Meowers ship.
10 Jun 2023, 11:56pm
After dropping out of the bar, I quickly headed down to my ship - still the Imperial Cutter I arrived in - taking no detours. Upon arriving in the ship, the first thing I did was seal it off behind me - primarily as a precaution, in case anyone got any funny ideas about getting in. Or a pirate army showed up on the station, and I had to hold them off while waiting for the ship to start up proper. In any case, it elicited an inquiring response from EDI - the totally-not-an-AI construct that definitely wasn't just remotely connected from the fleet carrier.

"I did not anticipate your return. Is there a problem?", she asked me.

"Not... exactly. Well, not yet, is more accurate.", I replied. "Unless the man that I witnessed losing it in the bar a little was completely bluffing, and I don't really think he was."

"Do you believe Azimuth have caught your trail and seen past the alias?"

"It's not about them for one, and if they have they've kept quiet about it." I passed through the airlock and headed off to the ship's armory, if it could be called such - it only held the suits and weapons of one person. "This... is someone else's trouble, but no guarantees it won't spill over on us."

I began to go rummage through the loosely organized storage of my weapons first, internally commenting on the action.

'AR-50... no, terrible against shields and properly armored opponents other than close range... maybe with shield disruptors. Aphelion... why does it have that name? Shreds a shield... might as well throw a dry sponge for everything else. Missiles... too close quarters. Would kill me as much as the opponent, don't want collateral. Pistol's already covered... shotgun it is, I guess.'

I carelessly threw the Intimidator on a workbench behind me, not that it needed to be, but I wasn't too concerned about it. If it couldn't handle a little rough temperament, it wasn't much good being called a weapon. Then, my eyes fell on something I had in the back of my mind for a while - more precisely, a blueprint that definitely wouldn't pass the 'legal monopoly' Pioneer Supplies - and, presumably, Frontline Solutions - had put in place around firearms used in conflicts around the Bubble.

I certainly doubted that a railgun with three-shot capacity from each charge, every shot capable of basically ignoring the shield of a personal suit, and causing serious trouble for anyone behind it, would pass. If only because it would effectively surpass the Executioner 'sniper' in most or all regards, and also make for a relatively decent anti-vehicle weapon. Had I been in the military I was in a few years ago, on the other hand, it would probably have been approved, but not for me to make, as personal weapon designs usually weren't particularly encouraged.

'Enough thinking. You haven't even started building that thing or finished the basic design. Go back to matters at hand.'

I followed the inner voice's advice and pulled out a black, smooth-looking Dominator suit, and looked at one of EDI's cameras while I put it aside.

"You became awfully quiet.", I remarked.

"I have learned not to interrupt you when you become focused.", EDI replied. "It appears most humans do not appreciate this, even if they are occupied with a meaningless or repetitive task."

"Hah hah, very funny. It's not meaningless if you enjoy it."

"Have you determined if you will remain on the station?"

"Not yet, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared. Are the repairs on the ship complete yet?"

"They are. I was left with an instruction to inform you of this by the maintenance staff."

"Alright. System check?"

"Every system is operating within acceptable parameters and fully repaired. I have not detected any signs of tampering."

"Well, at least those idiots from Azimuth aren't gonna catch me out like they did last time, if they suspect anything. Oh, also, do keep the ship ready for takeoff until I give the all-clear. Depending on how things go, we might want to make a hasty departure. If it gets too ugly, I'm not hanging around in an unarmed, if heavily shielded, evac transport."

With that said, I resumed my activity of suiting up, temporarily removing the hood to start getting into the black Dominator suit. I thought about a helmet instead, but my old one was not designed to be worn anywhere other than planets with a dense, breathable atmosphere, and the glass helmet that came with anything else definitely didn't offer any real protection, so I didn't bother. The debate on whether to stay or leave the station continued as I proceeded with my preparations, trying to determine whether it was worth hanging around or not.
11 Jun 2023, 3:39pm
I was sat in the pilot's chair after donning the combat gear, one weapon currently lay on the dashboard, with its magnetic attachment active, while my sidearm was safely sitting on my right thigh. The fingers of my right hand were thoughtfully drumming on the arm rest, thinking about what to do next. My brain was telling me to go sleep, but now seemed like a particularly bad time to be doing so.

Silvia had been in hospital for a while already, so I assumed by now she'd have left and returned to the bar, prompting me to send her a message - while also hoping there was only one person with that name for the message to go to.

Hey, Kasumi here.

You out of the hospital/back in the bar yet? Everything ok? Asking both for you, and because of that crazy guy pointing guns at everyone. Said something about some crazed pirate lord being stupid or obsessed enough to risk bringing his fleet next to that of a Maelstrom because of one guy(Creamy - that name is still so stupid).

Currently in my ship, decided to get out of the bar when he showed up again. Not sure if I should bother staying or leaving. Knowing those pirate types, they'll just shoot anyone on sight even if they have nothing they want.

(Ignore if this went to the wrong person.)
11 Jun 2023, 4:58pm
The comms tab pinged with a message coming from Silvia, which I didn't waste any time in reading.

Hey ya im doing ok. Got to the bar to find a full blown stand off. Things seem to be ok now. At least for the time being that is. But I might need to ask you a favor. We are talking about leading the pirates into a titan. Not really sure what the actual plan is going to be. I will attempt to keep you up to date but if we go through a maelstrom system I wont have much time to respond. Sooo ya guess I'll see you around.

Silv

'And I was told I'm insane for going in there twice with just the Thargoids to contend with', I thought to myself, as I began typing up a response.

You really think that guy'd be crazy enough to provoke the Thargoids by sending his fleet right into the Titan? He'll be sending ships that are not adapted to dealing with them whatsoever, and even if the were, you go anywhere within that system with the Maelstrom, it fries Guardian tech within a minute anyway. But he sounds rather obsessed about it so it wouldn't surprise me either.

If I need to do a favor it'll have to be something that doesn't involve combat, because I've got most of my ships on a carrier in a nearby system, just far enough that Thargoids won't really bother with it. And that Cutter I've got here right now has no weapons, just a prismatic shield, some boosters and a few utility mounts for running evacs safely. Doubt the supposed pirate idiots around would let it pass if I had one brought in? Would need to know what'd be useful, though.

And I would prefer it didn't involve shooting back at the Thargoids.

I hit the send button, and fell into a light nap. I needed at least some rest, and the message alert would probably take me right out of it anyway.
11 Jun 2023, 6:47pm
Have your carrier stand by near the thargoid zone we will be coming to you. Think you can get us out 500ly? I'll repay you for the tritium used. We will be coming in hot but I think I can pull some addition favors and get a combat team deployed to provide some cover fire while your ship jumps.

I read Silvia’s message over twice before I answered, having almost jumped out of my seat from the message ping.

I need destination systems. It’s about 80 light years from the Maelstrom right now, so I’d prefer to move it closer. But by the time you’re done going in there, I’ll have it ready and set for another jump. I hear there is an uninhabited system free of Thargoids that’s within single jump range for nearly any ship - maybe there?

Tritium is not an issue. I always keep it loaded with some reserves. What matters more is that it gets out in one piece, because I keep all my things there. I’ll have the order given once you give me something.

And I’ll definitely be on it myself. If it’s getting shot, I’m not just going to be nice and cozy somewhere. Action might also draw the Thargoids. You know that, right?
11 Jun 2023, 9:31pm
Continued from the Bar

I made my way to the cockpit and put my weapons back, strapping them to the pilot seat. Then I clicked the main power switch into On and Marshmallow woke up, welcoming me with multiple boot-up screens on the consoles and the low humming voice of her main engines spinning up. I put my armour suit on and sat into the pilot seat, holding a communicator in my hand to send a message to Creamy.

"Starting the systems now, will be ready to take off soon. I need a head start, like, half an hour, to make things look plausible: I'll jump-jump-jump straight to the system with the Maelstrom and begin doing some good mayhem. It will attract Thargoids' attention, giving you more chances to get into the cloud, and Vengerfield's pirates won't think we're actually coordinating our moves. So, I'm waiting for your signal to start, and for your message once you're in the same system: receiving the latter, I'll put my violence into overdrive, attracting as many of them as possible.

And tell Vodan people usually don't like when somebody shoves a shotgun in their face, and he might consider himself lucky to be alive."

continued from the bar

It wasn't a thing of beauty like most his ships had been, it was a thing of utility, but at least it had a good paint job.

"Any more songs about running away Ninette" Asked Creamy as he warmed up the generator and the pad moved to the surface.

He looked down the list Ninette had put on the screen.

"To old, to old, not enough tempo, not really about running away, to old. Ninette, haven't you got anything modern? You're making me sound like an aging lounge singer"

"Les classiques sont les classiques pour une bonne raison monsieur"

"Oh well, yes. I suppose you're right. Oh, and not French Ninette, we've got a guest" said Creamy looking at Vodan sitting in the co-pilots seat drinking from a bottle. One of Creamys' bottles.

While waiting for the ok to take off, Creamy put the maelstrom system into the nav-com. Cephei Sector BV-Y B4.

"Clearance granted Lord Goodness. Off on another food run? Bring us back something nice. Fly safe" said the man's voice from the control tower.

Creamy muttered something positive back, be he was bust picking a number to broadcast to Vengerfields' fleet.

Once he was clear of the stations' exclusion zone, Creamy pointed the ship at the jump point.

"Ninette, broadcast on an open channel once I'm set up. I'll be playing Escape, back me for metal, and make it loud. Vodan, you can jump us once Mrs Muri says its ok, or you are sure Vengerfield knows I'm on this ship" said Creamy getting up and taking the guitar out of the weapons locker.

The pilots ready room had the best acoustics up here, so that's where Creamy was going to play.

"Knight of Goodness to Marshmallow. The concert is about to begin. Good luck in the hells teeth, and thank you."

He started playing the heavy rock intro to Escape, and Ninette sent the signal to very open coms that would accept it.
11 Jun 2023, 10:08pm
Boosting through the airlock, I saw a Krait also leaving the station, it was several kilometres ahead of me, already on the edge of the exclusion zone. And I didn't plan on lingering here for that long. Punching the damned system name into the navcomp, I noticed, out of the corner of my eyes, some strange activity on the open comm channel chart. Activating the channel, I was surprised to hear Creamy playing some good metal music.

I opened a private comm channel with Creamy's ship and typed in:

"You got my tastes right! I'll keep the open channel activated in order to hear it when you're in the system, and it will be a sign for me to ramp up the gutting. Departing now. Do your things, and jump no earlier than 15 minutes after me, in order to maintain our disguise."

Then, my FSD activated and brought me to the first system on my route... A bit more jumps and I'm in the game once more.

Continued from the bar

Making my way into hangar 02 I couldn't help but feel like I should do something.

'No time like the present I suppose. What say you Melli? Ready to eat some bugs?'

While I didn't agree with killing thargoids I couldn't allow a fellow commander to fight them alone. I searched the station logs and saw to my surprise The ranger Venus' AX Challenger.

'Oh you magnificent beast. Melli let's go.'

Melli and I rush over to the hangar in which Ranger was located. Upon boarding I am greater by the Celeste

'Greetings Commander.'

I smile at the voice and think to myself of course Venus would choose you.

'Celeste track a ship for me. Designation Marshmallow.'

'Certainly Commander..... jump logs show path to Cephei Sector BV-Y B4 plotting course.'

I listen as the engines spool up and perform my final checks and balances. I look at the console and see a wedding photo of Venus and I.

'She really did want to save me at all costs. Melli let's get suited up.'

I rush to the back and grab a set of armor and pull out a small fox like biomechanical suit specially designed for Melli. We make our way back to the cockpit and set off from the pad. I send a quick message to Kira.

Change of plans I'm going after Ina. One thing I have learned is to never let someone fight alone. I will let you know of my return.

Silv

I boost out of the station and corkscrew to ship while lining up with the first jump point. The FSD engages and I blip out.

I couldn't let Ina face this alone. Not when she had someone waiting for her back home. I knew what it was like to lose someone. So I had to help her get home. I make another jump.

Melli sits curled up in her bed in the back of the cockpit. I line up the next jump and check over the weapons systems. Everything on board was a perfect loadout for fighting an interceptor. FSD engages once again.

Come on faster Silvia. I look down one more jump and shit is about to get real. Come on. This has to work.

Cephei Sector BV-Y B4. Perfect. I look over the contacts panel and pluck out Marshmallow signal. Celeste let's go target a drop point for that ship.

Continued in off station

I arrived in my ship just to see a message from Silvia arrive. Reading it made it obvious it was not a direct response to what I had sent, but it didn’t do much to reduce my annoyance.

Are you seriously going into the Maelstrom system now too? Has everyone gone nuts or decided to do whatever they want? I guess I shouldn’t judge since that’s what I do, but whatever.

I hope whatever ship you’re taking has non-Guardian AX weapons or some kind of support limpet. Because that Titan’s still frying any Guardian tech in system.

Oh, and I sent my carrier to Cephei Sector ZZ-Y b3 anyway. You should be one of the people I added to those allowed to dock at it if you need repairs or something after coming out of that mess. If Creamy chooses to hop on, well, it’ll be gone within the hour. Random destination at max distance, anywhere not in Imperial space.

I’m staying on the station. Too tired. Would just be a liability. Probably also going to be out soon.

I hit send and climbed up the stairs into my Cutter, sealing the ship off completely once inside. I began to peel off the suit as soon as the airlock opened, no longer wanting it on top of my clothes.
