Elite roleplay: Q&A and OOC

I'll agree the captain tends to pop up a little too early sometimes, and by design always seems like a prick, but I'd also like to argue that this community can be as helpful as otherwise, if not significantly moreso.

I daresay that if someone asked for help on this forum right here in terms of RP, at least three others would pop up to help.

Eli, your post confuses me on a few levels.

Firstly, as Stryker mentioned, you're basically necro'ing something that's been said and done. Prancy Paws is, well, something that pops up from time to time whenever the person behind him feels the need to comment. He's not exactly subtle, but his glittery insertions are at least rare and leave no room for speculation as to what his message is.

Secondly, the timing of your insertion into the off-topic chat seems especially curious since if you scroll up just a tad, you'll see literally the kind of helpful thing you think that we as an RP community should be doing (with Kurama10). You seem eager to let a single, over-the-top, satirical RP account paint your entire view of this community while ignoring the very earnest effort on the part of several of our members to help a younger, more inexperienced user with their RP. If I didn't know better, I'd say that you were evaluating the culture of the community in a highly selective fashion, only paying attention to the single most extreme RPer and largely ignoring the rest.

And if you have arrived in this community with loads of experience and expertise, why not participate and show us a positive example of quality RP? I'm certain that the regulars here wouldn't mind at all, and I for one would love to see someone of your caliber and background enrich the local community.

Fair enough, the first fellow to respond made it seem like the Prancing Pony was a standard response, and I even saw an apology from him there regarding Kurama10 so I made the assumption that it was shoot first, ask and guide later.

I can respect that approach, and I /do/ get that player characters probably shouldn't be immortal god-heads unless played by particularly skilled role players. Point mostly rescinded, I stand by the fact that the Prancy Pooter approach should be removed from the equation.

I assume that's a reference to me - and yes, I will be the first to admit that I come off as kind of an asshole sometimes. It's... a process.

I apologized for throwing the lot of you under the bus. I don't get a lot of joy from forum RP, but there are captain's logs, and I reply to direct messages in character. Currently, I can be found in the area of Gurney Slade.

Though, to note, I'm not saying I'm the most experienced RPer ever. I'm just saying that I'm not the newest, and I do have some experience helping people become really solid role players. Thank you though for the generous compliments.

All good, man.

Edit:
Stryker AuneSorry Eli, I edit a lot. Articulation is not a strong suit for me.

It's all good, man. I look forward to seeing you at the bar (even though I'm more of a logbook guy myself!).

Good, now, with that settled, lets get back to the more important things in life

Speaking of, would anyone be able to help me format my character bio to be nice and fancible?

Oh, gosh. What did you have in mind? A lot of people like the "dossier" look, which can be pretty time-consuming. Most people just go with the standard backstory. And it's not everyone's style, but adding pictures seems to help a lot.

Feel free to use mine as a template, a few people have.

You might want to change the pics

Basically I'm just trying to convert this over.

And also I'd like to find some way to incorporate Woodknock Hollow and The Shady Lady.

I really wish we had a wiki here, ha ha.

Edit: I also want the main character image, from the top left, to spread across my 'dossier' style like a banner over the top of it, but I can't figure how to manipulate sizes.
