Elite roleplay: Q&A and OOC

Markus OmniI hope not to achieve badassery, as like Stryker and a Lemon once told me, nobody licks it, and it becomes unrelatable with the reader.
The only thing I hope to provide is a decent story!

Though I agree with the essence of what you're saying, I would amend that just a tad. Badassery isn't, in and of itself, a bad thing. It's just a severely over-written thing, and is often misused in an instant-gratification-type way. A lot of writers make the mistake of making their characters action heroes right out of the box, with very little backstory and/or inner emotional nuance. Given enough time and character development, it's perfectly feasible for one's character to eventually attain a level of badassery- but by then, it seems like most writers will have matured out of wanting something so generic for their creations.

Successful characters are those with whom people can identify to a degree. Real people have insecurities. Real people have suffered failure. Real people have experienced heartbreak. Real people have experienced loss. All of these things can (and in my view, should) be used to balance the thrill of being a 34th-century space adventurer with near-total freedom to do as he or she pleases.

Don't go for bad-ass. You do you, and let others decide if you're bad-ass or not. Not that it really matters, anyway.

Aren't we all just playing the roles we believe society expects of us?

I'm actively trying to burn that role to the ground at every available opportunity.

I agree with you on that.

Makes me think in amazement the amount of stories y'all have created and my piss poor excuses for not having read more of yalls works.

Dr. GlaboskiMy two cents.

Dr. Glaboksi is the culmination of three personalities taken to the extreme, while taking all that is good from medical science and tossing it out the window.

Dr. Julian Bashir (his narcissistic over bloated view of his capabilities)
Dr. Smith (Lost in Space. Cunning brilliance and manipulative behavior)
Dr. House (Medical brilliance and unorthodox approach, with callous nature)

So when I roleplay him, for each post/situation I ask myself "How would these three people handle this?" then smash it all together and vomit a bunch of words.

You said House and I fell in love. I wonder if you could tell me, your.. "limitations" when it came to collating in other's stories, as well as your medical expertise. Cause I want your character in my story now. For.. something later I have planned. If you'd be the doctor willing to help that is~

Better meme than Stacy's Mom and You are a Pirate

Funnily enough, I used a picture of Dr. House as a reference when making Glaboski's face.

Last time I spat drink out through my nose like that I was reading Mheras Logbook.

I hope she doesn't mind, but here's the excerpt. I have to say, hot coffee is not pleasant in your nostrils.

Referring to Luke:
You, by now are undoubtedly aware of the alien footage. He wants to see one himself. After telling him a bit about myself, he offered to take me along. He said he wanted to show me his anaconda
(Ya, I know!). After some explanation, turns out its a type of ship. I seriously considered it, but the parameters of the research grant is clear.

I sat, read through that, and then lost it.
