Elite roleplay: Q&A and OOC

Stryker AuneI have two accounts.
My original, here Stryker.

A few months ago, Luke needed a heel (antagonist) for his Lilith character. I created Glaboski and ran him from this account. The "good" doctor evolved, and seemed like a good bad-guy to have wandering around getting involved in other peoples affairs, so I made a second account just for him.

Hope that clarifies.

My good associate here would like to mislead you into thinking I'm just a puppet of his account. I assure you, that I am free-willed and make my own decisions.

I'm also narcissistic and enjoy being meta. Especially on the OOC boards.

If you want to learn about the characters, (Plugging time!!!) both of mine have Biographies and Logbook Stories (As do most characters here). However, a lot of their actions take place in the RP forums. That said, you can find an abbreviated version of events in the aforementioned Logbooks.

Lilith hasn't been active in a while for two reasons, one being writer related the other being story related, but rest assured she will return once the author gets his ass kicked into gear and sorts out his 'to do list' backlog...

HappyComrieI'm a little confused now.
How is Glabowski your character when he's currently being written by his own account?

And to be honest I may not entirely know who Lillith is what's her story

I feel I should clarify, you don't need to have read the background histories of every character that you may or may not RP with. In fact, it can be argued it's better not to, since that way you only learn about each character as you interact with them (reducing the chance of accidentally mentioning something your character would realistically know nothing about). Just as you would in real life. Really, all you need is a physical description.

So don't feel pressured to read up on the history of Marra, Isaiah, Glaboski, Lilith or indeed anyone. Although, naturally those of us that write these Logbooks don't mind our egos being pandered to occasionally

Yeah, It just dawned on me you guy's have accounts dedicated to roleplay...
Then look at me with my choice of avatar... like a complete, utter, mong...

That does make me wonder though. Whats the "mental image" you've all drawn around Simon Comrie?
I'm assuming it's gonna effect things a little. Soo if it does, Should I change my avatar to help make a scetch of Comrie? or just leave it like this and work around it to avoid confusion? Wich I'm assuming wont work out at all...

Leif

Also, thanks for the "symbiotic" way out of the bar

Aah, Simon needed an inconspicuous way out of the bar again... He's a little carefull after having gotten maried to four chinese princesses at the same time after a rough night in a bar!

Comrie, the mental image I have of your character is the one you painted in your characters introduction in the bar.

A nondiscript meekesh, almost mousey individual that mostly keeps to himself, and would rather observe then be the object of any observation. He seems, based on his current actions, a kind and compassionate individual. Probably a high level of empathetic tenderness.

Your avatar really doesn't distract from what you have written.

Personally, I like drawing the pictures in my head. The picture for Simon Comrie got affected by your avatar, though. What I assume to be a german shepherd formed my view of your character as a quiet, watching but still caring and calm dude. Your actions didn't speak against this.
Talking about looks, I have no idea about your face, but you gave a brief description of your clothes which leaves a faceless nobody (again, fitting to your character) in my mind.

My image is a guy with a long nose, sharp teeth, quite hairy and speaks in a combination of growls and barks

Of course I'm kidding. The picture in the Avatar doesn't detract from the image you draw with your words. Unless your image of Luke is of a tribal dragon running from a perpetual explosion

That said, you don't have to create an avatar. If you think it would help, EVE Online is a good bet. But 2.3 is out soon, so if you wish to wait, there's no issue.

In that case I haven't quite done it right...
Comrie isn't neccecarily shy, or non-descriptive. He's just very carefull about getting into to trouble, preferring not to be too conspicious or get involved with things before he has a basic idea of what his surroundings, and people are. But once has his bearings...

I just looked back at the first post and I realised I made quite a mistake with "Invisible aura"
What I meant with it was that Comrie was just hard to see unless you were really looking for him. Not that he was "faceless"or non-descriptive.
But that's my own fault I suppose!

My suggestion is, as you continue to move forward in your posting, paint your character the way you want him to be precieved. Take a few moments to read the post back to yourself, preferably out loud (I know that sounds funny, but you will "hear" it) and make minor changes if needed. Once satisfied, hit submit.

Thanks for the answer, guys!

And I'm thinking of starting a logbook series story, wich is gonna involve a bit of forensics right in the start. And from what I've read I could really use an appropriate avatar sooner than later to prevent having to talk about N/H ratio's and pelt colouration for the line to make sense...

This is solid advice. People seldom write the way that they realistically speak. A grammtically correct, proper sentence often sounds very awkward when said in casual conversation.

Don't worry Comrie, we all make mistakes. It's part of the reason I had Lilith leave the RP. I needed to rethink some aspects of her character as I'd pushed certain things too far without good reason. I asked for feedback, and I'm using the Logbooks to redo certain things to make her more believable.

You can do the same. One post does not flesh out an entire character
