Helicopter parents are parents that constantly intrude in your life "hovering" over you, breathing down your neck and making sure you do what hey want. They typically employ shame, and subtle passive aggressive manipulative tactics to get what they want from you. They also leave you with absolutely no privacy and are constantly snooping into your affairs.

It's all about control.

What Stryker said. Usually overly protective parents that in extreme cases won't let their kid out alone walking or on the playground because something bad could happen.
