Yield to tonnage, friends! Yield to tonnage!

You mean like Belugas that barely fit through the slot and destroy Sidewinders without noticing?

...

Happened to me, only noticed when the security opened fire.

No, 'twas an NPC, no worries

Although there was one player sidey that lost his shields to me. Really wanted to get inside the dock while I was in the slot.
(Maybe that was you?)

In all seriousness though, NPC pilots have absolutely no sense of collision avoidance or traffic regulations what soever.

you're just trying to align with the mailslot and some NPC guy in a cobra goes full kamikaze on you. Wich is really annoying since I always forget to pay the 500 CR fine wich crops up my transaction list overtime...

There's a solution to that fine... Don't fly over the speed limit.
22 Mar 2017, 10:48am
But that's boring. Making your approach at no lower than 400 m/s usually results in the most gracious landings you'll ever see.

Well then don't complain when you receive a fine for reckless flying.

I understand, But that still doesnt fix their collision avoidance. Even when obeying the speed limit they still have a tendency to crash into you while your following completely legitimate docking manouvres.

In my experience (I do tend to hang around starports quite often) I have never experienced bad collision avoidance. In fact, there's been a few times where I've been pleasantly surprised by how reactive it is.

Follow the rules and you can't go wrong, really. Stay below 100, and use the green light side of the slot. The NPCs do.

There's a form of griefing that is entirely based around the idea that commanders never fly below the speed limit.

In my experience, NPC ships are often pretty reckless flyers around stations. If you're in a small ship it's usually not an issue, but if you're flying something that fills the slot, it can be a problem. I've often had the station broadcast "give way to big ships" and then had a Sidey try and leapfrog me as I'm moving into the slot at 95. I then get warned for reckless flying, but not fined because I'm below the limit. The danger is getting stuck. The fun part is jamming them there and pulling out just at the right moment so they get shot to pieces.

"Give way to larger vessels" - Bitch I am the biggest vessel at your effing starport! I do the traffic rules now!

A Beluga the biggest vessel? *laughs in Federal Corvette and Imperial Cutter*
