I've been thinking of ways I can incorporate the characters in my stories into the RP here. But it sounds like that's not kosher?
How much each relates to the other is dependant on the writer but the majority have worked it like this:
Logbooks & RP = Character related.
CMDR Profile = Real Life CMDR info and stats.
The two aren't mutually exclusive, for example in my own writings, what I do in game is often reflected in the RP and logbooks. Albeit with a bit of dramatic flair for entertainment.
However, people who RP an write about less-than-law-abiding CMDRs often exclude the fact that in game, they have high ranks within both the Fed and/or Empire because it wouldn't suit the character they portray. I mean, you can have backstory to explain why an extremely wanted and feared Pirate Lord is a Duke with the Empire and an Admiral in the Federation, but it's easier to just seperate the two worlds and explain stuff that needs to be explained when it needs to be explained.
