Not sure about YT-1300 itself, but making ships modular externally (not just internally or already present cosmetic Space Need For Speed stuff), altering their fundamental stats (shields, maneuverability, hull strength etc.) is an awesome idea.

Aren't the ships in E:D already modular in construction? The frame itself remains, but most of the modules can be changed out for different ones & those that can't, can be upgraded/engineered, yes?
I can't imagine it would be terribly efficient for the different systems to be built-in, & having to be repaired in situ...
I think I recall seeing a video somewhere describing the modular design... likely, theoretical, as afaik, E:D or the Devs haven't been specific in things like that. (Actually, not specific in a lot)

It's about external modular parts, eg. model-specific engines, cargo containers, armor reinforcements, etc. Look at the pic and you'll get the idea.

No more wasting a type 2 space with a type 1 module.
So instead of a cobra III having 4+4+4+2+2+2+1+1 modules I could mix and match up to a maximun of 20.
I am sure they could figure something similar with core modules too.
Imagine all the combinations we could come up with !!

(Speaking about your latest entry) It does read a little like a report, and yet not totally. Personally I thought it got much better toward the latter half, when you wrote more about your thoughts about the bar patrons, instead of your basic actions. I see a lot of potential here. You got a Shiney.
