Atlas FarronI have finally done something resembling a bio...even if I suck at writing them XD

Just read it... it's good, mate.

Thanks man. I've always held that my bio writing was not the best. Glad you enjoyed

Thanks all The Buurboons are a real thing too! The Buur Pit squadron actually has an occasional event where we go out and source resources to make their booncakes XD

Always nice to see when people remember that their characters have a sexlife as well.

It always makes me *facedesk* when someone who RPs tells me that s/he would never ERP. It always makes me think "Seriously? Your character doesn't even flirt or has been flirted with? That poor guy/girl..."

Don't get me wrong, I get it that not everyone wants to describe stuff like that in every detail, but at least go "fade to black" and leave the rest to the readers' imagination if your character has flirted sucessfully.

All of this, right here

It's one of those things that are difficult to express in writing without descending into cliché. I have great respect for writers who can pull this off.

That's very true. Any quality kind of ERP (fade to black or otherwise) is actually rather hard to come by these days without the various 'hurr durr' cliché's...

A bit of advice 1 of my elementary school teachers gave me & I never forgot, was something like this:

"Write the way you would speak, & of what you know, & how you live life."

Not just sex, love also. Most of the times avoiding it is the best option, guys and gals. In most cases characters start sucking each other off just for the sake of it. Romance just "happens", as if there was no buildup, no events and no emotions leading to it, and there are always events and emotions leading to it, even if it was just a simple hook up.

It's controversial but I'm gonna state it.  It's a staple of our times. People just don't know how to handle love anymore, and we can see that in their writing.

I sincerely hope that we're not writing people off as being incapable of handling love in real life just because they're not the best at portraying it in a sci-fi roleplaying forum.

I also think that (at least most) pilots who spent most of their time alone on their ship are rarely the type who are interested in a long-term relationship, at least while they are still "out there", so they are most likely looking for short-term on-and-off-affairs or the even more cliché FWB - "Friends With Befits". But that's just my take on the kind of person who'd be crazy enough to become an independent pilot, YMMV.

I mean, it might be because I choose not to focus on that aspect in stories because I don't feel like it adds anything to it?

The trick here is to do it the way it adds something to the story. That's the art of it, right there... and it's hard.

On that I agree... just like sex and love is only a part of RL ERP is only one aspect of RP in general... you need to get to it naturally, otherwise it feels wrong and out of place.

I don't know... I know few RL pilots personally, seamen too. Most of them do look for long term relationships. It's the other way around, actually. People who spent days and months in isolation will eventually start longing for meaningful relationships/human contacts.

Also, soldiers. Similar situation, I think.
