I think the problem here is that I thought "the bar" would be a good setting for my sitcom character but I see this more of a "flash gordon" style melodrama style crowd...


Well, yeah, that's kind of been my point all along. The same-ol' - same-ol'.

Person goes in, usually, prominently toting firearms (which in most locales with which I'm familiar, is banned, even in these relatively backward & barbaric times), orders a whole bottle of liquor or more & finishes an entire one off, & proceeds to get plastered, but not so much as to inhibit their cleaning of that firearm. Right there in the middle of the bar.

Discussions of assassinations, various criminal activities ensue.

Rinse & repeat ad nauseam.

A break from that would be welcome... like Sappho & the 'three wise monkeys'.

Nope. Wrong again, a sitcom style character can work if done well and within the bounds. That is all that is required.

So. The characters in the story have taken to heart that they live in a solid tangible reality when in fact they are all living in a simulation...
How real it all seems too... Simulation technology is advancing so rapidly..


So I suppose a Tron like "user" character or a Neo style character that "breaks the Matrix" would kinda "invade" your little universe and might be a bit upsetting to you all then I suppose... >scratch that angle<

I find your ATTEMPTs condescending.. as if you are the authority on everything.

I think this "humans only" rule is just plain DISCRIMINATORY. You are narrowing the scope too much and stifling creativity.

I'd say, find a way to make that work lore-wise & you'd be OK. Otherwise, it's the Alternative section for you. BUT... you might create your own version of the GalBar there too.

Well, it may be alright, when well played and written (a character's mental disorder, for example). Same as if the RP will be happening in our current world setting and such character will appear - you can hardly place a character that defy the laws of physics there, but you can certainly place a character that thinks he can do that.

One that believes they're in a simulation wouldn't be all that unheard of - hell, you could make the case that simulation theory is more widespread in the 34th century than nowadays - but you can't expect every character to take them seriously on that. As long as they're not breaking the laws of physics (such as they are in Elite) by stopping bullets or magically appearing or disappearing from reality, you could probably do it. Might require refinement on the minutae but not an implausible premise by any means.

"Humans only" would only be discriminatory if it only applied to you specifically, which it doesn't.

Then I suppose you can find me CMDRs in the lore that are not human?

A note about the creativity - being creative or "creative" without any limits, that's something anybody can do. It's easy, simple, without any or just with a little challenge. But being creative with what you have, that's where the creative masters truly shine. Example: Give somebody a bunch of bamboo sticks, some bottles, ropes and a few mechanical components. Some will create a bamboo hut and throw the rest away. Some will just burn it on the bonfire and will try to get a water into their bottles. Some will try to create some simple irrigation system. And then there are some geniuses like Theo Jansen who will make incredible walking machines from it. That's what I consider as a creativity worth an admiration.
