Elite roleplay: Q&A and OOC

07 May 2021, 2:10pm
Generally, bar bots and similar are alright, those are just robots.

The JUST and ONLY restriction recently set was about SENTIENT machines (androids, robots, computers, whatever) and non-human races (or heavily modified humans, which rule is there for several years, but was just reminded), because they do not comply with the lore at the moment. Please, do not look for more behind that statement, because there is nothing else than just setting some boundary where the RP may break the lore. Nothing more, nothing less.

(But even those can be now used in the new "Roleplay: Alternative reality" thread, if somebody wish to.)

XeknosArtie legit just added a special snowflake room because of the salt. That is hilarious.

Ya I don't think that "safe space" is going to help.

Its a bit like if "star trek" suddenly opened their doors and invited the public to write stories without any editor before incorporating them into the "Star Trek" universe. If you want it to be canon then you need an EDITOR who is going to publish or reject the material.

I.e. one should be a MEMBER of the LORE club before getting access to Canon "roleplay" improv writing club here on Inara. But then its not an OPEN free creative writing club anymore is it?

Your site, (Artie) your rules.. just like FACEBOOK or TWITTER. The Webmasters are the new thought police. The new GODS of "FREE SPEECH"

The new arbiters of "TRUTH."

I don't think it's that strict, mate. It's an Elite: Dangerous site so they ask contributors to stick to the lore as a curtesy to people who come to it as an Elite: Dangerous site and not just an open sci-fi site. Some react stronger than others, most let the little things slide.

It is what it is.

This isn't America, It's the internet and Arties site for Elite: Dangerous.

Baseline Lore has been set down by FDev and Artie has set some boundaries for his site, have fun in that space. If it's not your thing, choose the other channel.

It's not rocket science.

Stillgar, there are several people here who are happy to help you with lore-friendliness with your RP and writing if you wish it to be so. Is that your goal?

Psst, I let you in on a secret: Star Trek and Star Wars are the same universe... here's on-screen proof:

From "Star Trek - First Contact": The Millenium Falcon helps fighting the Borg

From "Star Trek 2009": Well, hello there, R2D2...

Sappho has, in all of her RPs, made sure to include "text-motes" to convey her non-verbal activities, including internal logic steps, to reinforce the fact that it is not only manufactured & programmed, but also not sentient. I think, such a sentient synthetic would be pursuing activities much the same as any other being, without involving those additions.

Great, sounds good! I appreciate the adaptation and yeah, I also think when the character behavior will strictly stay in the "program", those may not be even needed. Actually, making clear that the character is just a robot and is behaving like that may lead to various interesting situations...

Yet lore like Xihe Companions is not even taking into account as lore. When in fact it is.

They are and they fit. Those are just non-sentient machines (quote from the description: "...Rigorous testing ensures that all our animals conform to the appropriate legislation on artificial intelligence.")
There is no contradiction.

INTERESTING.. this corroborates my back story of a liberated slave, genetically enhanced to be a better slave..

No one was contradicting you in the first place.
