Elite roleplay: Q&A and OOC

Well, regardless of what happens, if Creamy shows up again while this is ongoing, it’ll become even more interesting.
10 Jun 2023, 12:35am
I doubt it. Creamy alone can mash up Vodan pretty rough, and, with me and you, he don't stand a single chance. Though, using him as a bait for Vengerfeld might turn it all into a battle that will wipe the bar, and the half of the station along with it, out of existence.
10 Jun 2023, 12:39am
Well, bait certainly wasn’t Kira’s intention, but she expected things to go awry more than diplomacy to work out (and she’s not much of a diplomat, anyway). And currently there seems to be a theme for her safety tools to be used for unexpected situations, so…

Ah, that stuff still leads to the RPs happened two years ago. And Meowers isn't a diplomat either; and when it comes down to melee fighting, she's big, strong and resilient, but without any sophisticated martial arts expertise and sharpness. So she's more likely to shoot things, and she's good at it. Whatever diplomatic abilities she has, including dealing with shady types, are from her mercenary past; and, playing them, I'm literally on top of my own talking skills, as IRL I've never been a talking type too. More like her, lol.

I might get to use Melli!!!! There is much more to the little creature than we have seen soo far.

To say that Kira's own traits aren't at least partly inspired by my IRL personality would be the biggest lie I've yet told. Most notably being rather shy and antisocial in... most circumstances, at least.

Suppose the nuance needs to be made that she is willing to talk if the other side is, but when it comes down to it, well, she really shines in combat more than anything. Which I always find a little ironic for a character who really isn't particularly violent at the core. She may also have a little too much experience in fighting things twice her size in (nearly) hand-to-hand combat, with some practice in martial arts, though the former usually has little relevance in the Elite universe. And her preference to avoiding hits as opposed to taking them and hitting back in return could also be a potential weakness depending on the opponent... but who knows.

Holding out on a gang of thugs on her own is probably not going to happen, though. Albeit, sounds a bit like they were already coming(unless Vodan's just bluffing...) anyway.

Silvia Sharpe

I might get to use Melli!!!!

After she apologizes to Kira for biting into her glove.

Kira GotoAfter she apologizes to Kira for biting into her glove.

Lol you'll get more than an apology.

And if there are thugs coming to the station then it'll be interesting for sure. Silvia has extensive experience with close quarters combat taken from my own irl experience and is resourceful again taking from my irl experiences. Melli is a tool for Silvia while also maintaining a level of fondness, much like a military working dog. There is also a reason she has a little suit of armor for her.

Well, as long as it’s not getting suffocated by fur… (kind of a funny story I have from irl where one of our cats came upstairs and decided to lie down on my sister’s face, who was sleeping, only just about leaving her nose uncovered - funny only since nothing happened - she kept her door closed at night after that incident).

Silvia SharpeThere is also a reason she has a little suit of armor for her.

Well, we definitely haven’t seen that.

And if the trouble does go further than someone on an inexplicable train of revenge or… something… Kira might regret leaving her suit in the ship.

One thing I will say is that my own background doesn’t necessarily reflect hers. I can’t currently claim to have neither military experience(never been in one, just have some rudimentary knowledge about things there), nor martial arts knowledge. So try to be gentle if I do get something wrong here and there.

Well, talking about 'dirty great plasma cannon', Vodan meant the plasma rifle that Meowers used in RPs before Odyssey, and its child toy weapons, release, that thing looks and functions much like a 34th century equivalent of modern .30 MGs. This thing is 'stored' on Marshmallow and I've never been in any action RPs since Odyssey (and its child toy weapons) anyway. Other than that and some vague mentioned 'standard issue pistol', Meowers don't have anything at her disposal, but she's good with things she have. And, she can kick somebody really hard. With overall lack of ninja agility being the downside. But, mostly, she's that observing and philosophising type, especially after joining AX forces.

What’s the deal behind calling the Odyssey weapons ‘child’s toy guns’ anyway? The only firearm I put much thought into my character having was a plasma pistol that - as described in my last post - isn’t much like the Tormentor(and is also the only one from pre-Ody weapons she has with her). Mostly serves as a personal defense firearm, with some emotional attachment to it.

But besides the Oppressor (and the Executioner, only because of its absurdly slow shot speed) I’m not sure how bad they actually are, comparatively speaking.

Don't worry I'm not really one to judge.

And to Meowers point Silvia doesn't use any of the odyssey weaponry either. Everything she has is demilitarized old war. Her rifle is kinetic plasma think particle accelerators but with a tungsten core, it has a reverb effect basically rendering personal shields ineffective at close range. Her pistol is an overcharged plasma pistol. Nothing super fancy but as we saw with Jules very deadly against unshielded enemies.

She isn't perfect but can and will hold her own for as long as she can.

Kira the reason we haven't seen Mellis armor is because there hasn't been a need for it yet. Though with Silvia being in the hospital it might not be viable.

I figured as much, was more of a “That’ll be interesting if it comes to be” type of thing that I meant.

And speaking of that incident, I’ll just say I’ve actually had a similar idea floating around in my head, but maybe it won’t come so soon. The conditions would also have to be right.

Anyhow, back to the other subject, Kira does have preferences but she has a bit of an uncanny tendency to make things work with whatever you give her… usually, and so long as the tool is somewhat suitable for the job. And to survive things that she shouldn’t.

No direct spoilers, but she also hasn’t quite shown the extent of what the modifications to her body have had as results.

Oh, let the GUN RANT begin... Lol.

Modern assault rifles that use an intermediate cartridge (in between small ones for pistols and full-sized for rifles), starting from early AKs, ARs, and even German STGs, up to whatever you could find now, have an effective range about 300-500 metres, and their bullets remain lethal for a bit more, depends on where you hit. That shitty AR50 is useless at 50 metres already. And, even if called 'intermediate', these cartridges have enough kinetic energy to cause blunt force trauma after hitting an armour plate several times. Unlike the shitty AR50, you can unload, like, twenty rounds into somebody's torso and that person will remain standing.

Sniper rifles, DMRs, all kind of precision stuff. They're, and cartridges for them, are being designed with ballistics in mind, to make hitting distant targets easier. What do we have here? That slow-moving, brightly-glowing piece of crap that you can simply evade by walking. Not to mention that you simply can't hit anything at 800 metres with it, and, even our 'medieval' 20th-21st century rifles can hit a cigarette pack from 1500m in right hands.

Pistols... Well, I don't have much to say about pistols, except that yeah, E:D:O pistols are still feeble and that plasma round looks like a slow-moving piece of crap.

Machineguns. Things that I personally like, those bulky, intimidating devices, designed for long sustained fire, suppressive fire, and even dismantling covers along with targets behind them. FDev, where are the machineguns?

Shotguns. Oh. It's difficult to screw a shotgun in a game, but... Where are automatic shotguns, different ammo types, all that?

And general firearm stuff like ballistics, penetration... It's simply non-existent in E:D:O.

Yeah, I know, I know, game engine limitations, game design, all that, but still. E:D:O is a crappy FPS game and its guns are all crap.

Well considering your character is 6ft 1, it makes sense that she would want to lay waste to her enemies without prejudice. I remember when I had Venus meet her and I looked at your character profile I laughed. Because I didn't expect that. Unless the biography is incorrect.

I don't think it's somehow overexaggerated. We want our characters to be better versions of ourselves, one way or another, maybe subconsciously, or to be someone we'd like to be etc. So she's a taller and tougher version of me, but just a bit.
