How so?

More insanity, more hell! :p

Btw, is there a way to stop people from filling the gallery with random low-effort AI-generated crap?

I guess it could be. There is definitely some insanity on my end, though of the good type.

And those script-generated pics… ask Artie about it? I noticed those too. It’s so obvious when it’s made by one of those. And yes, I will refuse to call them “AI” just because the plebs have decided to try ruining the integrity of another term.

(Is it artificial? Yes. Is it intelligent? Hell no.)

It is intelligent. On their level, by their definition of being intelligent.

It's kind of a pain, but you can use the sub-category buttons. Latest > Celestial / Landscapes / Ships ... Avoid clicking on Art or Misc.

Ah, no worries. Personally, I'm alright. I simply want people to suffer stop thinking that a piece of computer-generated 'art' is actually an art and they must show it to everyone around. The code of that thing might be a form of technical art, but not the zero-effort crap it spews away.

Don't worry, "AI Artist" will soon be a job. The only qualification is being able to type a string of words into an art generator. You won't even need photoshop skills if you do not want to do any post processing. Just let another application do that for you. But please ignore all of the odd little artifacts from the image generator such as people with extra fingers.

That very pretty man on ya left is AI generated.

I typed many strings of words to get images for my last post. It generated almost 300 pics before I found 4 that were something close to what I wanted.

Saying that, most of the pictures generated were very nice. My artistic skill? Very low, but it was nice to compliment the words with pictures.

AI generated images have a place, but I don't think it's the gallery.

I don’t mind them being used as profile pictures or anything of the sort. But as you said - not something for the gallery. It doesn’t quite seem right to throw that out and claim it’s a work of art or some picture you worked hard on making.

(Unlike what me and Meowers have been cooking up in private - you’ll know soon-ish. And you may be surprised.)

300? You are lucky. It took me 2.5 days over 4000 generations and even then I had to do some manual manipulation on the most recent pfp you see.

This might be a hint of my horrendous luck with rng. I gave up trying to generate the jabberwock and the venomous insectoids in my recent series because after a while they just turned into humanoid beings and I don't even know how that happened.

Yeah, that's the problem too. AI operates with masses of data that already exists. So that's why it's hard to make it design something new, at least not a picture combined of well-known mass-media pieces which have greater priority via their sheer quantity.

Indeed. It's not ideal in the slightest. Like I have a perfect picture of them in my head but yet the generators just fail to grasp the "description" properly. Certain words cover up or take precedence over other words making for some strange combinations. Hells spider anything in my generators creates spider man. I do not want spider man I want creepy spider fanged insect creature with a black iridescent exo-skeleton. But because I have the words black and spider in the string I get the equivalent of venom pretending to be a bug.

Don't remind me of the mess of pictures we went through to get one I was even half happy with for Kira.

Venom identifying himself as a bug, that's even a little funny. :p

Any A.I. scraping the web for art to use in image generation will inevitably use other A.I.'s output as input, creating a feedback loop in which the human component fades away with each iteration. It'll be interesting to see where that leads.
