AreZeedoes anyone know what's the life expectancy in the year 3302? I'm working on my bio currently and don't want to die in the next 50 years

Zemina Torval for example is 124 already... (must have seen some shit.. damn)
XeknosMahon is 114, and looks far better than Torval does, so it's hard to say (unless aging rapidly increases when you reach your 120's.) I'd assume a safe upper limit is 150.

The in-game description for progenitor cells say they can greatly increase  a users life expectancy, but not by how much.

Well, regardless how long the life expectancy is, i am sure it still can be cut short in a myriad of ways ;)

is this a threat, CMDR?

on a serious note: How do you act in the different threads? I'll guess we have to land at the docks and then walk to the bar, right? We can't just post in the galactic bar, because we didn't arrive yet, are we?

A threat, eh ? Life itself is a threat if you look at it. But on a serious note, yep, should "arrive" first before you enter the bar. Teleportation isn't out yet sadly in ED. I hope you aren't allergic to Cats though, might ger "hairy" otherwise <ahem>

not every ship that lands is noticed...
it´s not neccesary to mention landing if nothing interesting will happen..

if you always would describe your landing first if you just have business in the bar (or later other places)

it would make "commander xyz lands in his ship abc and heads toward...." posts that nobody needs...

okay, good to know

How do you handle time between posts? Do you use the timestamps or is it just an ongoing flow of posts, i.e. if I post now and the last person wrote 10hrs ago, but didn't post a "leave message" he is still there? Sorry if that's confusing

Yeah, I don't think it matters if you post in the docks first or not. Moving around is relatively uninteresting, so if you just wanted to handwave the docking and heading for the bar you could probably do so.

I'd say people are in the bar until they post that they leave. Time works a little differently in forum RP, I would say, in that you're reacting to actions, not the amount of time that's passed.

Hello fellow Commanders!

The Ministry of Frontier Development has announced an official Elite : Dangerous Writing Contest : https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/3zai6o/elite_dangerous_writing_contest/

To quote from the above link:

To celebrate our trailer being shown before Star Wars Episode VII across the UK and selected states of US and Canada, and the launch of Elite Dangerous: Horizons – the second season of major expansions – we are running a writing (fan-fic!) competition to give you a chance to win a copy of the game.

All you have to do is create a history or origin story of your character or a character you would play in the Elite Dangerous world (galaxy!) Whether the character is a smuggler, a bounty hunter, a solider for one of the major factions within the game, or a lone traveler cruising across the galaxy in search of ancient and long-forgotten artefacts; we want to hear your story!
Some simple rules apply:

  • Your entry must be no more than 600 words maximum
  • Your story may include characters from the Elite Dangerous lore, but must be about an original character of your own creation
  • Your entry must be submitted before 24th January, 2016 23:59 GMT

Good luck!

thx for the info. I might give it a try

I submitted an entry.

Only 600 words? NOOOOOOOOOO!

The prize also appears to be a chance to win the game. I suppose for those who don't have Horizons yet it could be worth it, but it's not a real compelling prize.

It does seem like kind of a redundant prize. Someone willing to write fanfic about the game is very likely to already own it.

Maybe one of those sweet beanies?

Yeah, even a pack of skins (paint jobs) might be better. I hardly have enough time for the one toon, much less two. I'd make an effort for the socks though
