Rant corner

I'm not one to rant often, but....

Gaming today is NOT what I expected/hoped for. (Perhaps "hope" is the problem. )

What I expected/hoped:
Wake up early, squeeze in some game time before I have to run to work. What game? The new "Indiana Jones" game I had an "early release" for starting TODAY. Then, after work, I would get some more game time to play a bit more of the new game if I wanted and/or get in on the exciting Thargoid attack on Sol happening in Elite Dangerous.

What I got:
Did the early wake up part. Yay.
Got in the early game time before work, but.... the new game wasn't out yet. Great. Fine, maybe it'll come out while I'm at work. Still, I had some time, I'll check out the thing in Elite.... WTF? It's just a usual Thargoid invasion mechanic? No Community Goal? No insurmountable odds invasion?
Whatever, I'll shoot a few Thargoids in a AXCZ, then time for work.
After work, I jump into Steam ASAP hoping the new Indiana Jones game is ready to launch.... Nope. Check the discussions for it and apparently I'm not alone. I guess 4pm PST is "today". Sounds 16 hours overdue, to me.

TLDR: Impatient and underwhelmed.

Well Escape Pods are classified stolen at Capital Class Rescue sights in Anti Zeno territories! I thought they fixed this! Oh, FDeV I love you guy but come on man! It doesn't make any sense!

How come no racing mode in the Arena?
I'm new to the game, loving it so far... BUT it's so sad that the Arena is such a neglected, misused mode. Instead of few broken combat modes (my first Arena experience was being matched with someone who is rank 30, killed my will to ever tried again), one would expect many fun minigames and competitions, chance to make more types of ships usable, instead of current meta, making most of the others obsolete. It could be a place to test out your builds, and fight in a small, medium, or large category.
I was also amazed there was no racing mode. It would be so fun to have races (with players and bots) in engineered speedsters or in big, trading ships full of cargo.
That would bring new excitement to the game and shipbuilding, and offer a welcomed detour from the grind.

Arena is born dead, at least the community thinks so.

These CGs always suck for people who have to work the weekends.... but what is even worse, is to spend the few time you have experiencing one bug after the other.

Bartender sale still does not work, and got stuck in modal dialog in settlements when wanting to download data from data ports. Only solution: relog. And multicrew often fails too.

There's no such thing as too much serotonin sacrifices to The Lord Braben!

I'm more annoyed at the fact that they very happily mention that you can rescue captives from the Titan even now that it has no systems left which to affect with that mechanic, but there is only the CG to go blast the Titan and participate in the senseless violence if you want to have those pre-engineered SCO drives.

Well here goes.
You have read all those stories about commanders fighting the good fight and kicking the titan in the teeth, heart, pineapple? Yeah this ain’t one of those. Few weeks back I joined the fight. I had three ships, 100 million credits. I dropped in on the Cornwallis and bought before I thought. I had my Krait Mk2 loaded up like I was taking that titan on right out of the gate. Then I started learning. It was expensive lessons. First jump into Sol I was jumped by a griefer. 7.5 million later. I jumped into Sol again and I started ferrying wounded out and lost 40 people before I actually figured out the hyperdiction skill set. A bunch of fines later, I started being successful in getting in and out of Sol. I didn’t make a bunch of credits but I wasn’t losing them hand over fist. Then I put an economy cabin and for a while I was running small groups out and buying stuff that would be in the mission list in Sol. That way if I lost cargo going into Sol I wouldn’t fail missions. All went pretty well until Cocijo showed up in Sol.

Hey! I have all those guns! I went out hunting bugs. Honestly it was a mixed bag. If I had a couple hundred million in the bank I could probably develop the skills to be decent at it. But I didn’t have a couple hundred million in the bank. In fact I was scraping the money pot dry.

I tried a ground mission. Bleep! Those are hard core. Fun, long, and seriously hard. To the good I didn’t loose any credits, to the bad, I didn’t accomplish the mission. End of the weekend. I just don’t have time for missions during the week. So, yesterday I docked back at the Cornwallis with enough credits to make two maybe three attempts at Cocijo. So after reviewing all the guides and help files I’m as ready as I can be to give it a shot or three.

Attempt 1: Jump into Sol head to Mars High to get some more heat sinks (hyperdiction was more aggressive). The interdictions heading there were what I expected. I was about 5 LS and I get interdicted again. I start the routine and now I’m taking real damage. Now I’m yanking and banking, I’m hitting the gas and not letting up. Doesn’t help. Redeploy. Yes I was killed trying to get to the only semi safe haven in Sol by a griefer. Time for a break.

Attempt 2: Tweak the build, do some training run outside Cornwallis. I head to Sol. I don’t use any heat sinks on the way and I head into the cloud. About the middle of death and destruction avenue I realize that my ship is melting around me. I have been hitting the wrong button for caustic sinks. Hey this one’s on me. Redeploy.

Attempt 3: I make sure I have all my sinks and the pulser set. Weapons are set. Repair limpets are stocked. This is it. I don’t have enough to redeploy again. Jump into Sol. Head to the cloud. So far so good. Not to much damage and the guides have helped me so far. Here comes the pulse. Bleep my timing is off and I am thrown out. Bunch of damage. I jump to a nearby system and I repair and rearm. I am heading back in. Get hyperdicted, and this ain’t like before. This bug is serious. And my drive goes off line. Crap! I’m at the redeployment screen. Except I am in debt now.

I sell everything I can. Including most of the AX weapons. I put the Krait back in explorer kit.

Current condition. Out of debt and heading to the deep black. Give the hell commanders.

whoever changed thargoids to see you in Maelstrom while being <20% heat and 0% heat, you're such jackass. Why? Before they only saw you at <800m, and fire at u instatly and now they come to you to be triggered, forcing to move away from em. Why be cold then if they see you all time? Pointless steatlh.

Like what is this non sense?! Below <20% all time.

Thargoids always could see you regardless of your heat level, it is just inconsistent when the game decides they spot you at 3-5 kilometers or they have to come within a kilometer to do so at a Titan. Especially Glaives have a tendency to notice more.

… and they also get more aggressive when the Titan gets more damaged, so that plays into it as well. Maybe there is also some element of everyone’s favorite thing, random chance rolls, if the thing spots you from further away or not.

Besides, it’s completely illogical that just hitting a button to drop a heatsink or go silent running is complete immunity to detection especially around a Titan. It already almost is to the point where you can take minimal damage doing something that should be much more dangerous.

i dont mind em being more and more agressive but keep steatlh doable instead ruining it completly. Thargoids dont even need face direction to spot you. Like they hear you all time and move towards the sound sort of. Its almost unplayble at any big pgs.

Didn't AXI themselves advise against their PG and open (and other big PG)? Because with that much players involved rn, the Titan will be aggro all the time. I stopped bombing yesterday (for various reasons) but when I did, I only went in solo. Much more enjoyable, never detected, hardly any hull damage.

i played in my squadron pg and it was much better. I duoed with squadron member and earned 200 millions in two runs By runs i mean shooting the titan until i ran out of ammo and such. There is pretty big pve pg called mobius but even that one was a bit buggy.

If u want have fun but not in solo, go for squadron pgs or just use discord
