MeowersHmmm... A thought that wandered into my mind randomly. Is there any reason to keep old Sirius non-SCO drives? Except some niche builds (if any) which I don't have?

The short answer - no.

The long(er) answer - Sirius FSDs are currently basically obsolete with possible exception of the class 5 pre-engineered version (as well as the CG exclusive sizes) since it comes with range and fast boot modifications… but most people won’t notice the difference. Or have much more time saved not wasting it on the (otherwise) basically idle supercruise sections which are only remotely involving in Thargoid systems with higher risk of interdiction (and even then you can/usually do just submit, boost away and low wake with minimal/no damage taken… of course they also removed the Glaives after people bitched enough about them because you could actually fail against one, and also that Guardian melter mumbo jumbo).

The only reason to keep Sirius FSDs at this point is because you don’t want to sell your stuff that is engineered. And I guess, if you’re paranoid that Achilles (probably) just stuffing a Titan drive piece into it with a “Good enough” sticker (corrosion-resistant sticker) may cause issues later down the line. Or some idiot from Sirius that got offended at their ruined monopoly sabotages them or something stupid.

YES. Downsizing as weight saving measure.

My Corvette never operates elsewhere than from my Carrier, she is equipped with a 2D FRAME SHIFT DRIVE, engineered for Faster boot sequence ︎ Stripped Down ︎, a 2C Fuel Tank and a 5E LIFE SUPPORT ︎ Lightweight ︎.

I see no reason to keep heavier modules when they are not essential, weight saved here can be added to structural MODULE and stacked GUARDIAN SHIELD REINFORCEMENT without penalty in performances.

Small weight differences affects the ONSET first (responsiveness), even if it doesn't show or only in small %age in the stats, that's the conclusion of the tests I conducted and the physics used to define our ships flight envelops...

For those who doesn't know what ONSET is, it is the result of MASS X THRUST resulting in an initial acceleration, the higher the mass, the lower the onset, the lower this initial acceleration in all axis.

Back to Robigo run for more material farming, as expected it took me two days to gain yet another 1% of COMBAT Elite ranking, at this rate it is slow despite the fact that I am using Premium Ammo (30% + Damage), I'll need to exchange some of this grade 4 for whatever I need for Synthesis...

I think we can expect the new ship to be released as Premium at the end of this month, so I still have some time to replenish the Raw Material for engineering.

That's a great point about downsizing & weight saving; I have a mining ship which I'll use from a carrier and I've also downsized the FSD as I only need supercruise.

I was curious about why you've used E-rated sensors and life support though. Wouldn't you save more weight with D-rated ones? (not to be critical or anything, just wondering if there's something I'm missing?)

Good and valid point, I'll have a look at those modules stats again, I made those choices for a reason but I can't remember exactly which ones...

It appears that the 5D Life Support Module is 12 T lighter and has a Higher Integrity (86 vs 77) and longer Oxygen Time Capacity (7:30 instead of 5:00), even better with the Sensors, it appears that my optimization isn't complete, I should be able to gain and extra 108 T, so thank you for pointing that out.

Life Support
Sensors

I'm upgrading my Corvette right now, I'll publish the results (stats) once I'm done.

Meowers AX, if done well, can be quite profitable. A single starport defence scenario can make you 500mil+ richer. AXCZs probably too....

Indeed. I don't do much in the game for credits though these days; I'm just enjoying various activities to see what they're like and try out those styles of play.
In fact, typing that out reminds me that I have yet to really try out more than a minute or two of mining. Ever.

I quite like, AX, ExoBio, and ground CZs, when it comes to credit earning activities. (Those are in no particular order, btw.)

AX weapons question: modified Shards vs. modified Plasma Chargers, what are your opinions on that? I usually run 4 modified Shards on my Python Mk2 and have made good experiences with those. Cyclops are almost one shot kills (almost...), Basilisk and Medusa take longer, Hydras are a pain if solo, but very doable with that loadout in open (and in a wing).

Who's running Plasma Chargers, who's running both, and what are your experiences? (Also, are those any good outside of AX combat?) I was thinking of doing another round of Guardian grind to unlock the modified PCs from my favorite mass murderers (Azimuth).

Corvette as she was before uprade from class E to Class D modules:

Gain from Sensor.
8D SENSORS
Gain from Life Support:
5D LIFE SUPPORT
Sock Corvette Speed: 198 m/s - 257 m/s

I'll leave those non-engineered to preserve their Integrity but it was worth the efforts...

Rawnumodified Shards vs. modified Plasma Chargers
I remember the hatred for Plasma Chargers in big battles, because when a player hits something with it, others can't aim for shit through those clouds, unless the Thargoid is scanned and you can sub-target the hearts. Lol.
Maybe good for exerting though.

Yeah, but they look spectacular. And the Interceptors themselves sometimes start to become blurry (not sure because of weapons discharge or something else). I was curious how fast they exert hearts as compared to mod shards. Maybe I just do the grind again and see for myself. I don't mind overheating anyway while firing

You shouldn't overheat with Shards either, in proper sequences (one pair firing, one reloading) and if covered by a heatsink or even two. I don't always follow that rule because of the distance game I do, there's a brief window to send as much lead as possible, before the inertia drags me away. Mostly relatable to Hydras with their armour though, lesser variants are fine.

(alright, alright, sometimes it's about sheer adrenaline (which is fun) and adrenaline-induced willing to END THAT FUCKER RIGHT NOW, but that's a big part of the fun, if not the 'definition of the AX fun' for me)

RawnuAnd the Interceptors themselves sometimes start to become blurry (not sure because of weapons discharge or something else).

That would just be their space-bending engine trails that somehow cause this distortion. This once served to solidify their otherworldly nature, but in combat it just tends to make it difficult to see an exerted heart's position when the Interceptor moves directly away from you during the 'rearm' phase.

I usually try to just follow along at a slight offset to their heading to avoid that problem. Especially with Basilisk's higher speed which makes it a good target to follow alongside of and punish it while it won't fire back.

Interesting times near Raijin... doing some pod rescue stuff (activity which heavily relies on stealth more so than clogging its vents), get little attention from Thargoids originally for four opened storage chambers, then they begin to get really upset I'm tickling the big guy and start having more Cyclops patrols around, and Scythes - aka the pesky people stealers - frequently start either arriving or leaving, then one of them gets stuck in its exit portal for one reason or another and seemed to be keeping the Titan in a perma-alerted state which meant its turrets stayed out and Scouts remained patrolling the asteroids, other (combat) Interceptors leaving were more likely to pay attention than depart when deployed by the Titan... and higher probability to get a patrolling Glaive.

Somehow, I still took no damage from any of the Thargoids and only some on exit due to the caustic cloud.

Now look here, come now, I cant abide you calling my fathers company Mass murderers
We are surely, unethical warmongerers and committed attrocities against human rights and performed human experimentation on unwilling subjects but we are certainly not just some run of the mill "mass murderer"
Good lord I didnt help that man burn the bubble down to have you just call us mass murderers
we are a monstrosity beyond human comprehension at the least... especially given the whole brain in a jar rumor

I need to take a brake from exploration and space truck driving. It turned stale.

Little fights around stations under sudden attack have been fun so I thought exploring that avenue a bit more.
Any advice on learning how to fight (NPC at first of course and practice I know, I know).
What are minimal upgrades to Krait MK II so I can last more than 2 minutes before someone melts my boat out of the sky?
