Acen ONYXKrow & Jolly...

I've not yet used (had occasion to use) the in-game comms..

Do you know for sure that messages are received immediately by another player, even in the middle of SuperCruise? Or does the message only get sent when reverted to normalspace?

i mean, could it be that the warning message isn't being received or read or noticed, so the "victim" is feeling even more hard done by?

normally they receive it direct but the message warning is not that clear or obvious some times you ar using the station menu and you don't see any message notifications .

I agree placement and control of the COMMS menu is problematic. Personally, I would rather have CONTACTS in the cooms spot vs having to continually toggle menus. Thank god for voice attack.

As a wee bit of information for you all, as of the Horizon's update, comms have been a bit buggy. The other commander does not always receive the messages you are sending, so does not necessarily know you are messaging them. I give it about an 85% success ratio for sending comms. Just something to be aware of.

Agreed. Yesterday when I tried sending messages, 2-3 times over a couple hours, each time I got a disconnect message stating errors in the 'matchmaking server'. Very maddening as I found a nice little trade run that finally got me to break 50% up the Broker ladder. Had to keep logging in to re-dock at the same station...finally gave up and called it a night.

Jack DekerdtSo, I got around to collecting my pay for the Cheret's CG (it is 200LY+ from my AO, so I wasn't in a hurry). In addition to the pay it mentioned 'global awards' but I am not sure what those are and a quick Google din't spell it out. Someone enlighten me, please and thanks.

Since you haven't received an answer on this yet, community goal awards are split into two parts. There is the player reward, and then the global reward. The player reward increases based on your rate of contribution compared to the average of commanders. So if you placed top 15% to earn 8 million credits, that's your player reward. The global reward is something that affects the community as a result of the success of the event; some lore, a new station, an option unlocked at a station, some discounts. It applies to everyone.

I'll use the "A gift for giving" community goal. Players had to ship personalized gifts (rare commodity) from Frost dock in the south pole of the bubble to Clauss Station in the Santa Muerte system in the north pole of the bubble. As a player reward, being in the top 5%, I received 100 million credits. The success of the event (That is, pushing it to a higher tier reward), unlocked global rewards of a free ship (which was a viper mk 4 for tier 6 of 6) for new commanders between 3 and 10 hours, even if they didn't participate in the event.

Hope this clarifies things for you.

Since the new changes to elite: dangerous, I've noticed that the lines that represent planetary cycles etc remain once you go into debug camera mode. Obviously that screws up screenshots when in supercruise mode. I could just turn them off but that's irritating too as I use them heavily for gameplay. Anyone have a solution? Cheers

You can turn off the Orbit Lines in your ship under FUNCTION > ORBIT LINES.
It's easy enough..
I believe there is also a hotkey for it.

Just thinking about that combat logging .

it could easily be solved by delaying the disconnect within the server .

For example when internet connection is lost your ship is still in the game for a further 60 seconds .

it also solves the sometime interrupted internet connections .

making combat logging more dangerous and when on a mission you can still play the game when internet connections are interrupted..

Appreciated. I understand the 2-part difference. I was asking, specifically, WHAT the global reward i for the Cherets CG. I couldn't figure it out. The last one I got the IC ahead of proper rank as the global reward. I understand the mechanics, just didn't know the actual global reward. I do appreciate your explanation and I hope it helps some of the new pilots, especially since we picked up a lot of new folks with Horizons.

Well, turn them off for screen shots and vids, then back on when you resume game play. It is annoying agreed but we are talking about a couple of seconds. In the meantime, if you have not already done so, forward a ticket to FD Support.

Yeah this solution was discussed back in the chain a few days ago. It is a solution used by many devs and of course it caused a whole lot of discussion about the merits from several sides, you may find the conversation interesting if you scroll back a couple of pages.

Hey friends,

Just posted a few curious/interesting images / screencaps ... hopefully at least 3 are "unique" enough to warrant some attention and/or LAUGHS...

Please feel free to message me about any of them!

Cheers!

I would have a problem with staying "live" in the game in the event of a crash - I sometimes get a hard crash that requires a full reboot, and it tends to happen in the midst of combat. I can easily see myself getting slaughtered by NPCs in that 60 seconds.
