Bobo's ToupeeGoing in head first in Ch'i Lin trying to down some ships for the CG but I don't seem to be doing much damage to their ships. I took on a Python last night & it took me forever to destroy it - used up all my ammo to do it & finished it off with lasers.
I met a Cobra MK 3 I think today & I wasn't doing much damage there either. Its shields were down - that wasn't the problem. The hull seems like its 3 miles thick The damage meter goes down ever so slowly it feels like I'm going at it with a dull spoon. I'm using a 1G multi-cannon & 1E cannon. I guess they're not powerful enough?
use beams to take out the shields and auto canons for the hull or missle/torpedo banks .
Check out my cobra config and you can take out most ships in minutes .

If they had antibalistic bulkheads it would slow down the damage from your kinetic weapons (hence finishing the cobra off with lazers). I haven't been to a CZ in a while though as the pay is so inferior to HAZ REZ.

NumaI'm pretty sure they are running reactive armor mostly. The multicannons on my Corvette were useless, 5 burst lasers and two class 4 cannons for the large ships' powerplants is fine.
yep always use different weapons in one loadout some use reflective reactive or military armour .
some eve have reinforced hulls.
having the option of doing different types of damage is a must.

I currently really only do "smuggling operations" with occasional rare trading... Any thoughts?

PepsijoeI don't want to start anything here, but I am trying to decide on whether or not to give up my Asp Explorer for a Python...

I only did my Smuggling back in the days (3-4 months ago) with my Python, Asp i was mainly using for BH and the occasional smuggled goods. Never did rare trading or "legal" trading at all myself though. Python is obviously worse in means of Jump Range when fully specced, depends on what you want to use her for. If it's just trading you could get away with getting most parts D-rated except (obviously) the FSD, Thrusters and PP. If you want to have her be the Smuggler / Bounty Hunter that'll be something else then. I specced mine A-rated, pumped her full of Cargo Racks (224 Cargo maximum) and did my thing. Again, it was different back then, way easier to stack Smuggling missions and so forth. These days it's a tad bit more work alltogether.
Regarding flying i noticed no notable difference when moving from my Asp to the Python.

I lost my love for the Python recently. If you want to have a heavy combat ship then use the FDL instead. If you want a small fighter the vulture is they way to go imho. Trading to medium landing pads with a python is okay too, but you won't be able to do smuggling as good as in an Asp Explorer (due to its jump range).

I'll definitely try FDL soon Only thing that is stopping me is horrible jump distance on FDL.

Actually I love the python it has a great number of internals to use and especially when the multi crew option comes in to play and makes it even more effective . I would keep the Asp explorer and safe up for the python than you can always go back to the asp if you don't like it
a fully outfitted Python costs more than 300.000.000 credits.
