Elite: Game talk

My plan is to plot a route back to the bubble and make it more productive. Load up on neutron juice, jump, look around while on my way to next neutron star and so on. I thought spansh.co.uk will do the trick but it seems to be useful only for finding systems already honked/mapped.

Can you guys recommend an application to make finding systems not already scanned? In other words, something to make the exploration trip less of a tourist trip.
Why I have not found anything useful is that it must to run on Linux or be web based (preferred).

That does not exist. Generally those third party sites or applications require player-submitted data to do their thing, which means by virtue of unexplored space likely not having had anybody pass through it, they will not be present in those databases.

Unless you actually find somebody that wrote/noted down all 400 billion(ish) systems that the Elite galaxy has and has data on which of those are explored (but you just need to go far enough and/or in the right direction to find stuff that hasn't been explored, which a third party tool is not much use for).

Bainsey7Has anyone tried filling a Type-8 with fuel tanks and heat sinks to see how fast it can go?
That's my plan for next week.

Don't forget the sipping whiskey.

OK Makes sense. Lets reduce it to minimal functionality
Do we have anything that can read my logs (real time), track what surface scanner found (bios 5 - list, geo 2 - list) and keep track of it while I scan that stuff on the planet?

I'm nearly sure you can fit only ONE fuel tank per ship as for the heat sinks, you have 4 UTILITY MOUNTS on the Type 8.

You can install auxiliary fuel tanks in optional internal slots along with the standard one in Core Internals

ED Discovery

While you might find something that you can run under Linux using WINE, since ED Odyssey is a Windows game, most of the third party tools are going to be Windows based. I usually run my tools on the same computer I use for ED, but ported out to a separate display.

This makes it sound like I won't be successful running Elite on a Linux system. Is that true?

I'm growing weary of Windows and have long used Linux for many things other than gaming. Considering how much I enjoy and play Elite Dangerous, I would hate to convert my gaming system to Linux only to find out I can't run Elite. (Not to mention VR compatibility.)

I use Steam and it's the only game I have.

ED Discovery wont run on Linux (severe limitations) and what I have read, it's a massive resource hog anyway. Another application attempting to do everything - dishwasher that paints walls and chops fire wood or something LOL.

Surprised that nobody bothered to write a small daemon like ap, OS independent (Java, Python etc) that polls the logs and pushes new files and latest changes to website API, where the rest is done.
I am not a programmer so here is some pseudo code:
  1. scan the .log file dir for new files
  2. push new to the server
  3. read lates *.log file for updates
  4. push new content to API at "address"
  5. wait for update to .log files

Of course, *.log files can be pushed with rsync and be done with it
rsync [OPTION...] SRC... [USER@]HOST:DEST

It runs on/via/under/over/ontopof of Steam+Proton (part of the steam).

That's what I'd hoped. As far as the extra utilities that I enjoy, including VR components, I'm sure I could run into challenges. Regardless, it will be some time before I hit that point with Windows. Microsoft seems to be really trying hard to aim for their own foot right now though!
