For questions I have many, and I expect to have more. For starters, I innocently landed at some random base just now to pick up some tradeable wares, and was attacked by a handful of anonymous on-foot thugs. Checking, that place doesn't seem to be in any particular state of turmoil. I guess that's a feature of Odyssey then, and you just have to be on your guard for this all the time?
Secondly, that same planet on a scan I found to have a biological site, but so this doesn't seem to show up in your left-hand nav panel, like it would in Horizons. How do you zone in on these surface sites in Odyssey? Hopefully the answer isn't by hovering over the entire planet's surface and hoping to get lucky.

If you were at a settlement and a bunch of scavs dropped in (which are not aligned with a faction iirc), that normally only happens at powered down settlements. Unless you were hostile with the relevant faction and the local residents opened up instead.
(for reasons only FDev can explain even if a settlement is completely powered down and devoid of NPCs you can still interact with it as if it was inhabited, i.e. dock, refuel, rearm, repair, trade etc.)
The localised planetary POIs for bio and geo signals from Horizons don't exist anymore, it's based on the
Blue means there's a high chance you will encounter the asset in question (the different hues of blue don't seem to make any difference in my experience and just reflect the change in terrain), but once you're at ground level it's back to flying in any direction and eyeball mk1 searching and/or waiting until something spawns. The relevant codex entry often has some hints, so is worth checking out (incl. distance required between 2 samples).

Ah, so that's what that filter is for. Thanks, hopefully this will get me further (plus checking the codex then).
What happened at that settlement will have to remain a mystery to me for now. I'll see if I run into it again.

EpisparhThe Megaships and capital ships in hip 22460 were indeed equipped with proper weapons to do damage to Thargoids.Several kilometres long crapships that are as effective as some noobie on a bog standard (oh, sorry, 'meta') Chieftain... Nice! Lol.

I have found that the greener areas have a higher likelihood of finding what you selected in your DSS filter (though still not guaranteed). Generally the terrain type within a green area is the best way to locate the geo/bio you are looking for, as certain geo/bio tend to prefer certain terrain types. Think of the terrain as one layer and the green as the other layer and you need to find where they overlap. A green/blue mix or just blue color means you are better off not bothering, unless there is no green anywhere else on the surface.

And thanks to you, too, Kurakil. I'll be back on it as the question arises, but hopefully I have a general idea now.

WhiteMunky108Quick question to anyone who may be running an Elite Discord. Which bots do you use, and where can I find them? Something to report BGS and powerplay, give cmdr details, sell points for traders...anything like that still online?
Many discord servers have their bots but they share same data as EDDN/Inara/EDSM or have similar web functionality.
Example:

This is what I have noticed. I know we can click a few buttons and be where we need to be for information, but to have it able to be accessed in one place would be nice. I've worked with BGS bot, seems it could be useful when diving into that, but I haven't found any others

Episparh[quote=D8veh]I was watching a recent Youtube video that showed capital ships shooting Thargoids in a conflict zone. The guy explained that the capital ships had tamed the swarm and were pre-exerting the hearts to make it easier for us to kill the Thargoids. Unfortunately, i can't find that vido again to get the details. I thought he said that it was in HIP 22460, but that might just be my warped memory.
Can anybody put a bit more meat on the bone about that? Is it still a thing? If so, exactly where? Is there a ship build specifically for that situation? Obviously, if it is in HIP 22460, the ship build can't include Guardian stuff.
Check the CG option in station, when you select mission it's the big box on the top that says community goals, the right side of the menu is passengers. It is three options not two now, so it's easy to miss.
There were 3 community goals this week fighting with capital ships. The third is almost complete. The EX Capital ships are next to high and low AXI zones. The last one left, i thin the ships are close to C3 - 50,000 from the systems entry point.

Maybe it’s only me that uses different bindings for Horizons and Odyssey, but if not - know they use the same bind file.

ScubadogSo, there I was, taking a leisurely jaunt over to the station in the Union system out in the Colonia bubble, when I noticed an odd signal pop up as I approached the planet. A nonhuman signal source. I landed nearby, jumped in my SRV and scooted over to take a look. And, to my shock, there they were....a handful of Thargoid Sensor Fragments. I took pictures just in case. So, either it was a glitch or the improbable has happened.
Ive never been to the Colonia region, am I to be understanding that Thargoid sensor fragments have not been in that area before now??
