Mr Sloppy...if all else fails you could buy the gold, should be able to get it for about 10 million still giving you a good profit. The trade route search on here works well for this sort of thing.

I wonder if it's possible to simply buy the required commodities for other mining missions and still make a profit

It is not only possible, it is profitable to do so granted you have gained enough reputation to get the best paying missions. Obviously, not with all commodities as some missions are for commodities that can only be obtained via mining. But, many others are easily purchased. Gold, Silver, Tritium, Palladium are some that spring to mind.

Eternal_KommunarI decided to play miner- I took the wing mission for 226 tons of gold. Somehow I don’t really want to mess around for a whole week, and even alone. Anyone want to join? 48kk or Exquisite Focus Crystals & 46kk

Are you mining for fun or profit? If you are just about the credits before you accept the mission check INARA Data and see where the commodity is sold nearby. You can usually buy the goods, transport them back to the issuing station and still make a profit. Have you shared Wing (Team, now,) mining missions?

Returning player from a year off, need some info / help please.

Does anyone know where's the best place to get bounty vouchers for this weeks CG? There doesn't seem to be any haz res sites in the sytem, so should I go to the nav beacon?

When docked in the station after I signed up I saw some info displaying 'Missions accepted (or completed) 0/20' so do I need to accept bounty combat missions to contribute to the CG?

EpisparhYou can collect bounty vouchers in any system controlled by the same minor faction.

https://inara.cz/elite/minorfaction/77805/

You just need to sell them to the CG location after choosing to participate.

Great, thanks.

Shg56 How would you read this one? I needed 3 units of Selenium (Se) and 3 units of Tungsten (W) so I landed on the planet with composition for the above mention: Se 3.1% and W 1.1%. It took me almost no time 5 min to find 3 of W but almost an hour to find 3 of Se which should be almost 3 times more frequent than W and while I was searching for Se. I came across another 4 units of W., and you are saying that there are no scripts.

Sorry for the late reply, Shg56 I sometimes don't look here for a while.

So, the information I would need to give you an answer would be 1) the system and body you were visiting. 2) what kind of deposit/meteor/geo you were getting your Tungsten from. If I had those I could give you the answer, but even without, I'd guess you were on a body where, sure Se was 3.1% and W was 1.1% but they aren't in competition with each other. It may have been that of the 2 G3 mats, Tungsten had a very high proportion. Say the other was Hg with a 0.5% chance. Then Tungsten will drop 50% more often than Hg. But that has nothing to do with Selenium. Selenium only competes with G2 mats, so maybe there was Chromium at 6% and Zinc at 3%. If this was the case, Selenium has only a 25% chance of dropping.

What you look for makes a lot of difference as well. G3 (like Tungsten) drop in Metallic Meteors, Metallic Outcrops, Crystalline Clusters, Crystalline Fragments, Needle Crystals and Mussidaen Seed Pods. Selenium meanwhile, as is the case with all G2s, only drops in Metallic Outcrops, Crystalline Fragments and Polyporous Growth, so you need to be careful where to look. No magic, no scripts.

Does that help?

I was referring specifically to raw collection on the surface only, not mining asteroids or geo. In the end I think I went to regular school where 2+2=2x2=4, but you and other went to the advance schools where the answer depends on how convincing your argument is. So no script for you, but it is there for me which lows mineral spawn frequency based on what you are looking for.

I don't know if it works the same for planets, but for settlements, each individual settlement favors certain specific drops within a given drop table. You can go to the same extraction settlement every day for a month and it will have certain materials/data that it favors, even though each extraction settlement theoretically pulls from the same pool of possibilities which should each have a relatively equal chance of being acquired. That's why many have trouble with Smear Campaign Plans. They farm the tourism settlements, but only certain specific settlements are much more prone to have them than other "identical" tourism settlements. I bet if you went to 10 different planets with similar composition, and mined in comparable locations, each planet would have its "favorite" material that it gives you regardless of what the percentage in the planetary description says. That's why I just farm crashed anacondas and use the material trader nowadays... and why I didn't play for about 2 years shortly after engineering became a thing until the material trader came into existence.

As was I.

Well, that shows an admirable degree of stubbornness in the face of fact, but good luck finding Selenium your way.

o7 Commanders,

SO i am thinking of building the coldest ship I can as I feel that this will help in gathering Thargoid data and mission running in Thargoid controlled systems.

So DBS or DBX seem to be the coldest ships,

what engineering would I need to do to get the ship as cold as possible, shieldless, light weight hull and efficiatent internal modules?

What would you guys suggest?

Even DBS that is the coldest ship will be detected by Thargoids if using thrusters. So the solution is to use silent running and for this you need to lower energy consumption (no Shield, No FSD booster) and adding as much heatsinks as possible.

P.S. Actually with DBS you can do less than 20 thermals even with dirty drag driver. If you choose clean drives with thermal spread it is going down to 12 but you loose around 60m/s speed(values without boosting with all 4 pips to eng).

I tried that with a DBX in HIP 22460 and got my first rebuy on this save.

Fast survives better than cool.

thanks all, helpful, I think that then I will up my courier for the spped, but will still build a cold ship for other things. Thanks for the feed back
