WaioraUpdated to 4.0 client and now running at literally 30fps with everything on lowest. Even the hud looks like atari gfx and pixelated to where its unreadable.

On old client I can run about 90fps on ultra preset.


My condolences! It is as this for most of the players in last 16 months.

Do you want some help as how to make things a little bit better or you just share your experience.

If former, please give us basic information about your hardware. Cpu, GPU, Ram is enough.

But I need to clarify one thing:
You will never have the same performance as in 3.8 until Frontier development do not fix their mess.


All good thanks, Im quite familiar with GFX settings, just blown away with how piss poorly it is optimized.
Uninstalled 4.0 and back on old client.

What I miss the most about 3.8 is (apart from its buttery smoothness) the stellar lighting on planetary surfaces, or even within the ship's cockpit (eg. the excessive bright white/blue light that white dwarves emit - in 4.0 it's just plain old standard white, as for everything else apart from brown stars).

Unless of course you visit an atmo world, and there, lighting depends on the atmospheric make-up/skybox colour rather than the sun (which always happens to be light yellow regardless of star type when planetside).

Taygeta and Y Canum Veraticorum are prime examples where the lighting adds immensely to the general vibe of the system, all completely lost in 4.0 where they look bland and dull.

If this was addressed I would probably become a full time explorer. Given this has been a problem since launch I don't expect it to ever be fixed though, sadly.

Any ideas how long it will take to update the permits after the last CG?
I'm in 75% of contributors and I need to get to Mbooni, but I've got no permit yet.

Has anyone tried to use multi-barrel for CAS through the multi-crew mode? It seems to me that improving the rate of fire would be a good idea

You can't. All the 3rd level personal engineers have what looks like a link to a 4th level of engineer that has yet to be implemented.

Or the developers are just lazy and forgot to end the chain cleanly. It's a coin toss between the two, time will tell.

You can't. All the 3rd level personal engineers have what looks like a link to a 4th level of engineer that has yet to be implemented.

Or the developers are just lazy and forgot to end the chain cleanly. It's a coin toss between the two, time will tell.


Probably the latter, because people who got access to Uma via a CG have all three boxes checked.

The cargo haulers CG rewarded top 75% of players and up with the Mbooni permit, as well as a megaship will now be parked in T Tauri for good that will always make the permit obtainable for new players going forward, is how I read the event info

QuillmonkeyI don’t think that’s true. The issue is not one of scripting, but of reading the data right. I find raws drop as expected so long as you have the correct geo/bios and a decent proportion (separate from the percentage).

How would you read this one? I needed 3 units of Selenium (Se) and 3 units of Tungsten (W) so I landed on the planet with composition for the above mention: Se 3.1% and W 1.1%. It took me almost no time 5 min to find 3 of W but almost an hour to find 3 of Se which should be almost 3 times more frequent than W and while I was searching for Se. I came across another 4 units of W., and you are saying that there are no scripts.

You have not said what search method you used (geo sites or random meteorites/outcrops), and without full composition data it’s guesswork anyway, but here’s what I guess was happening:
For each type of meteorite/outcrop, there is a table of spawn probabilities for raw materials, and those probabilities are then weighted by the overall planetary composition. Tungsten likely has a high relative spawn probability in metallic meteorites, so if you find one on a planet with non-zero tungsten composition, there is a pretty high chance it will spawn some tungsten. Selenium, on the other hand, may have a low spawn probability in metallic meteorites and a higher spawn probability in mesosiderites, but so do several other raw materials, including those ranking higher in the overall planetary composition. (At least this is definitely the case for arsenic, which AFAIR does not spawn from metallic meteorites at all, and that is why it is such a pain to find.)
If you used geo sites instead, each raw material can spawn from only one type of geo contact (piceous cobble, crystalline fragments, crystalline clusters, needle crystals), and it is possible that on that particular planet tungsten has little competition from other materials for its geo contact type, while selenium competes with other materials with higher overall planetary composition ranks.

I, too, do not think there are any scripts of the kind you are implying, because implementing them would be a major PITA (just see how many bugs there have been with missions, which have to be scripted), so developers surely took the easy way out, i.e. a purely random system (although there may be some weighting based on past encounters; that is much easier to implement). Keep in mind that we humans are very prone to see patterns in what is actually completely random noise.

Discussion is about raw only, not geo. My experiences tell me that there is script in play because the randomness in raw collection is not that random.
