I'm not going to grind AX combat though unlike some others seem to already do - we'll hit the usual glass ceiling and progress will only be made when Frontier decide to unlock the next batch of content.

Yes, true - I meant more in terms of actual new content in the form of revealing what's inside the Maelstrom cloud. I reckon that's gated off until the next update next year whenever that will be. I'm not into the BGS so if the entire bubble burns, 'no skin off my nose' to quote my friendly FC barmaid.

(by the way, I check my Odyssey install size, unless it was 47GB before it didn't increase by 5GB as it sits at around 51GB - could be misremembering it though as I didn't check how much it was pre-U14)

Another interesting aspect is how the new situation will affect ganking. Protecting AX fighters from ganker interference isn't just a hobby any more but may become a necessity . Good news for the leftovers of SPEAR or lawful gankers like Webgear, I guess.

And good for gankers too, as the potential to whack unsuspecting/distracted players has increased. It's actually quite exciting again because things have gone very stale of late... I didn't even bother flying Open-proof ships half the time because the risk of getting pulled was already so slim outside the usual hotspots. It seems we're getting a lot more of those hotspots now

PS - I say this as a traditional 'mouse' player when playing cat & mouse with gankers. PvP with the goal of winning over the other player is a bit too dull and drawn out to me but trying to escape was always pretty fun.

It is not only AX fighters, but rescuers and traders as well. The attacked stations are actually an active AX CZs

AX ships are usually though nuts and cat-piss do not make difference between someone who attacks it and one who attacks their attackers. So if a ganker is around and no immediate threat for goid from other players guess what will happen. It is not same BS as sitting and waiting for someone to drop in the instance.

But definitely, there is some new interesting conditions for the PvP players too.

Btw, rescue missions are no longer 5s SC away. You need to jump few systems away.

If I was a ganker, I would rather wait near rescue ships than in AX CZ. It is safer and maximizing salt potential.

How about creating a rescue squadron then? Or merge into an already existing similar...

This only makes those rescue missions more interesting. The old ones became boring very quick.

Question - has anybody met and fought the new Interceptor variant (or any other new Thargoid kind that may have appeared) already? I would like to check your journal for the respective idents/bounties, so I can incorporate it for Inara properly (Thargoid war and medal counts).

Quick question, is it still possible to acquire the Mbooni system permit? I didn't bother with the CGs so don't have it. Reading up on it suggested the whole thing was bugged but those reports are several months old now.

Second option is no longer available. I do not think 1st is valid too as that megaship went kaboom.

My advice is to get allied with the Azimuth Biotech and then travel to T Tauri as this is their only controlled station out of the permit lock
