SquirtyI hope you find a fix.

o7, I decided to keep it upscaling, text features are not the most important ones after all. Well, there is no problem like that in 3.8 and EDO have been live at least 1.5 years, common that should be fixed long time ago. I am running AMD Ryzen 9 5900X with MSI 3060TI they seems have no problem with temp. Thanks

TimjtDoes anyone knows where to buy the pre-engineer heatsink?

I just visited The Witness Odysseus, there is no pre-engineered heatsinks in there.

Well so much trying to assist in rescues I can’t even get in to a system to help. I don’t think the bugs like me, I’ve died 6 times now

EpisparhIt is good but all old bugs still standing, performance is still BS and instancing is garbage(I had so many broken instances today)

I’m not having any problems with it and I’m not running a high end PC.

Same here (i7 4770, 16Gb mid level ram, GTX 1660Ti) - until I try to run it in VR. At that point it is a complete balls-up, no improvement on previous updates

EpisparhIt was said on the fdevs' stream today that that attack can completely blackout the Bubble and those who are thinking that Colonia is a safe heaven are up for a surprise

Ah, it's official then they want to go caustic all over the galaxy. I think I'm going to see the Thargoids riding a Hauler and be done with it. See you in the Legacy mode.

Way out the black, no goids out here but was wondering if manifest scanners were providing any info on Thargoid vulnerabilities?

No. There is Xeno scanner and research limpet controllers. Data link and comp. scanner do give some basic codex information too.

Do you need help or advise? I would gladly look at your build and provide suggestions but please include your engineers' access if so.

The truth is that Thargoids now are like gankers (minus the salty talking). They will stop you and will open fire immediately.

They have additional advantages though:
1. Can find you in Solo/PG.
2. Can hyperdict you.
3. Can interdict you (you cannot beat that - Do NOT fight it and just submit ASAP if it is not the lame human NPC interdiction).
4. They can also disable your ship with a shutdown field - for now this is not common practice after interdiction/hyperdiction.

The stations that provide rescue and support missions for thargoid invasion are now active AX CZs. This means that you will need to dock under thargoid aggression. (Auto dock do not work)

So, in order to survive you need to think about defense and speed. Those are known Thargoid specifications.

Scouts are slower but they are usually large in numbers. Just beware of their caustic seeker missiles (point defense and ECM are useless). Still the lowest threat.

Interceptors are other thing - if you cannot outrun 450m/s (530m/s for Basilisk) you will be in their range. They have 30 mass lock factor - no low wake if you cannot clear the FSD inhibition state. The only disadvantage is that they hardly recover their speed momentum after U-turn.

Shields are effective vs main weapon but some damage bleeds through them and will damage modules, so get at least one MRP, better two. In additions Interceptor will release lightning attack if you are 800- m from them - that will rapidly degrade shield and have a holding and breaking effect on all systems.

Tried to (a very short time) find some cargo racks capable of carrying thargoid stuff and the caustic sink?s that could be of use flying regular ships near or in the tharg territory. Did not find any on sale. It is as if the superpowers do not want volunteers in the thargoid fight.

Found the shut down field neutralizer, though.
Got bored by the pirates attempting to raid an empty cargo ship, shouted at comms to them "go fight the Thargoids. Asshole."

Bought a Hauler. Equipped it with a-rated parts and all the slots with hull/module reinforcements. Railgun and the shut down field neutralizer. Currently trying to depress one poor sod so much he will do a mission and hit one thargoid once. At least this might be interesting.

size 4 - 16t capacity is technology broker unlock
size 1 - 1t capacity you can buy from engineers Ishmael Palin and Chloe Sedesi

Caustic sink is probably future content that FDev leaked during U14 deployment and was disabled on the following day.

for caustic problems (during battle) just bring your ship over 120-130 degrees and they are gone.. silent running or firing some weapons with high thermal charge is a fast way to heat up.. at the new thargoid hotspots i tested a clipper yesterday, works fine speed is around 500 and boost 600 so it´s easy to outrun dangerous situations.. even after interdiction u can simply boost away.. with strong hull reinforcement it´s a nice ship. killed a cyclops and some scouts with that build at wolf station, was funny.. scouts are easy to take out. used some ax multicannons and modified guardian fragment cannons for the job. tested also class 3 lasers (efficent pimped and thermal relief) on scouts.. works fine. with a fast ship like a clipper or mamba it´s not so hard to reach the goal (yeah many interdictions) and have some fun with goids.. the npc´s also fighting on your side if they are in reach. next i will test some normal class 2 multicannons on the scouts.. the class 4 multicannons on my corvette worked also fine on them in earlier battles

Did a fair bit of testing various weapons yesterday on my shieldless AX FdL against Interceptors (so all are size 2):

4x AX Missiles - rubbish as before (and likely not enough ammo but didn't spend much time on them), sold them again already
4x AX MC Turrets - meh - couldn't quite tell much of a difference between the buffed ones and previously, I guess they're ok if you don't fancy unlocking things
4x AX MC fixed - didn't get a chance yet, assume mildly better than turrets though requires constant steady aim which I don't consider much fun unless you play with M&K. Might try later though I'm not that eager on the experience
4x Modified Plasma Charger - fun, the faster projectiles help a lot with aiming, even though I still found it tricky to hit the Tharg Hearts reliably without being able to sub-target them (I wish scanning a moving Interceptor would be easier). These can one-shot kill scouts so I was mopping up CZs with these last night
4x Modified Shard Cannon - god mode, creates lots of heat (but I carry 4 heat sinks and a Thermal Vent Beam so not a biggie). Fun as well due to the ridiculous projectile velocity very easy to aim, including Hearts. My favourite especially when trying to be quick and lazy.

Playing the Thargoid war in Open really shows this game should've really been a single player one - so many bugged instances, pad hoggers, lag... when it works it's really enjoyable but in my experience it's about a 2 in 10 chance of that happening. Haven't seen so many players around in ages though, so that was nice.

Yeah, modshards are kind of fun, yet still require a skill to use them properly. Unlike bugged Hammergauss. But, it's been 'fixed' now by rendering Gauss stuff useless...
02 Dec 2022, 10:23am
I genuinely laughed out loud the first time I tried them - unlike Gauss (regular) which were my meta and were the only weapons I had unlocked on my current CMDR (pre-reset I had all of them unlocked, didn't bother with that this time) you get instant shots without having to charge them.

Makes especially Interceptors super easy. I bet the AX anoraks probably don't like it but it makes sense to widen the appeal to more players, and trying to snipe Hearts with Gauss's playing on an Xbox pad can be hard work depending on your haptic skills.

If someone was new to AX and doesn't want to grind all the gear, I'd recommend doing at least the Modded Shards ... the unlock requirement isn't too bad all in all.

Hammer gauss bugged/fixed? How? IMO, they work as intended - same as rails/imperial hammer. Same damage but split in smaller burst during short period of time. With rails/gauss if you miss you miss. With hammer variant you are given a chance to do same damage if you stay on target but less damage if correcting or breaking your initial aim during firing sequence.

Rail shards are OP especially considering the materials needed for synth.

Ugh, ammo synthing. One thing I will never ever get into, that's for sure. Which pretty much rules out soloing Medusa/Hydra but I'm ok with that. Those were designed for MP engagements and trying to solo them isn't my idea of fun. (usual YMMV disclaimer)
