Did you notice this about in game tools?

https://youtu.be/5MSJZoHTCZE

No. Build your own market and then browse a 3d map counts as wasting my time. We know why FDev do it although few will accept it.

And having to manually search a galactic map for data in year 3309 is a big regression of what we had in 21st century

P.S. If you like it - enjoy!

Sorry, couldn't watch all the way through, but my take is that you have discovered a very complicated and less useful version of Inara's commodity data search. I can confirm it works in Odyssey with a few tweaks, but personally I find it much quicker to list by highest value and distance in Inara or Eddb.

AguilarTrying to follow CMDR Exigeous tutorial but I keep losing my sense of direction on the site and I keep running out of time getting the columns powered up and knocking out the sentinels.

IMO, Exigeous' tutorial does things in completely the wrong order for newbies, leading to time pressure, confusion and panic.

Do things in this order, and hopefully you'll find it easier:

1) Find and collect an Ancient Relic
2) Drive around the site, finding all the pylons, but do not power them up yet. Kill the sentinels when they appear.
3) Once all the pylons have risen from the ground, and you've killed any sentinels that are hanging around, start powering them up. This will start the timer. I'm not sure if any more sentinels appear at this stage, but you'll have a lot less to deal with while the timer is going.
4) Once you're all powered up, go and jettison the relic to bring up the orb, switch to turret and scan it to get the blueprint. Some more sentinels may spawn here, but focus on the blueprint first, then you can run back to your ship or fight. Either way, you've got the blueprint

Brilliant got it thank you so much. It also helps when the site is in daylight

Were you using night vision?

EddieG. how do you identify where to look for materials now?

You use your DSS as usual.
Then you'll get a new "heatmap" with given "possibile spawn chance"
(If more then one type of signal, you can filter with Q + E by default)

In the "blue area" of the heatmap, you have some chance, to find the selected signal

But it's not as clustered as it was in Horizon, but way more natural, scattered with different denseties across the planet

Jees - I'm glad I stumbled across this post. This sounds much harder than it used to me. :-( Oh well.

Scubadog....

THAT would be the one way to avoid constant eyerolling of this "new tech".

if you use guardian hull reinfocements x3-4 and a big repair limpet(size 7) on an anaconda, the caustic cloud has no effect on the hull. Basically a size 7 repair limpet with 3 or 4 guardian hull reinforcements for the resits. This kinda even the things out where you find yourself repairing just enough to keep you from melting.Basically with 1 size 7 repair limpet you can keep up with the cloud so the new tech is actually pointless.

imagine this...in the 21st century humanity could pinpoint with accuracy the positions of water geysers on Saturn's moon, Europa, then in the 33rd century we get a "heat map" and generalized location. Makes no sense.

Works pretty well.
I prefer it.

Hallo,

Say it ain't so!

Just spent a week grinding out a community goal just to come up a couple hundred tons short of reward.
Only for the privilege to grind out some more impossible materials, so I can unlock the caustic sink launcher at a tech broker?
That's a joke, right?

These grinds are sucking the life out of me!
I think it's time to find a new game. It's been a slice Elite.

So... just to recap:

1) You chose to enter into a competition with other players to win a reward
2) You failed to win that reward, because other players performed better in the competition
3) You think it's unfair that you didn't get a reward

Did I miss anything?

Yes, yes you did. You missed the point completely.

It's not about the reward.
I didn't care I didn't make the top 25%. I was happy helping the cause.
I was going to purchase one once they became available. But that would apparently be too easy.
One grind to get an item is not enough, we need two.
I'm actually surprised it's a one time unlock, as I heard. Shocking they don't want us to grind out some more, should you want a second one.

Well, you've got a long way to go before you exhaust the list of things in this game that don't make sense.

Example: You have a broken canopy and are running out of oxygen for your ship's life support. To extend your supply, you:
A) Plug in an air bottle like a scuba tank from 20th century Earth.
B) Find a way to funnel the roughly 1 ton of liquid oxygen you recently mined from an asteroid into the O2 tank.
C) Screw it, Imma just cram some iron and nickel scrap in there and hope it becomes O2.

...and your suit is able to produce breathable air out of energy, via recycling and filtering, or any other process. It also has a temperature regulation system that can keep you ok in a wide range of hostile environments, from 1K to roughly 1200K. But, for some unexplainable reason, in case of emergency, you can't connect the suit with the functioning ship power circuit. You have to squeeze the oxygen from iron and nickel, lol.

So illogical that it never even occurred to me earlier today as I expired 100m from settlement thargoid CZ.
28m rebuy for the sake of a bit of iron & nickel.
