Of course you will. That's the law of the grind: you will lose. Lol.

In Frontier, they know only grind design.

Phrozty2281If you change modification on engineered module do you lose all the mats? Pretty sure the answer is YES, but thought I'd just ask before jumping off to a Mats Trader.

Question. If I change the modifications on an engineered module will I lose all the mats used? Pretty sure the answer is YES, but thought I'd just check before jumping off to the Mats Trader once again. Thanks.

You will loose the mats, buy a replacement module and store the one you have alrady engineered, you may want it later for a dirrerent build.

Good morning, I have a question, my google-fu doesnt reveal... I am 'bout 3K outside the bubble and want to find some tritium hotspots. I know that they occur in pristine ice rings. And since I am in unchartered areas, 3rd party tools dont help.

Are these ice rings related to a star class?

o7 cmdrs,
Do orthrus thargoids have lighting weapons? Xeno wiki says that they don't except special EMP and caustics but yesterday I encountered the first orthrus in HIP 2422 and it had Lighting weapon but it had green pattern instead of yellow like ordinary interceptors. That lighting rendered Gurading MRPs and Gauss Cannons to 0 on my xeno chief in no time. Could anybody else confirm that? Thanks

Shg56 Do orthrus thargoids have lighting weapons?

Hello CMDR.

No, Orthrus variants do not use offensive weapons themselves.
So further, they do not use the "lightning attack" (sometimes called "Palpatine Lightning", as a reference to Star Wars)
It does have almost the same scanner like the other Interceptors.
But the scan does not deal any damage.

Still, the Orthrus does have some defensive mechanics.
Likewise the mentioned EMP / shutdown field, to fully turn off your ship and make your guardian modules useless.
Secondary, their "exhaust trail" does apply a heavy caustic effect.
And they do call in a lot of annoying scouts.

So the Orthrus itself will not attack you.
It will try to enter hyperspace as soon as possible to evade you.

When did you last time deal with orthrus? Mine yesterday used lighting attack with green beams, maybe that's what FD calls thargoid war rebalancing. Unless I am BSing again like I was blamed to do several times in the past.

Probly not worth changing your filters over but a recent investigation showed that G class gave a 2x average return for icy rings, K gave 1.75x return and F gave 1.4x.

You could be right. The last bastion of balance and skill-based gameplay has been... FDev'ed. 'Stabilisers' were the largest nail in the coffin.

Like two weeks ago...
I don't think there was any update since then, but I'm not sure.
So I'd still say, things that fight back are not an Orthrus...
But who knows?!? Might even be a new bug... ahem... sorry, I mean "feature"

Your assistance needed! I have been away from ED for a bit because of life but my wife and I are back playing again. Unless something has changed since we have been away, you always start where you last landed (or quit) no matter how many ships you own. This being the case, I would like to create a seperate account for exploration. These leads me to a bunch of questions that I know you know the answer for:
I assume I have to purchase the game a second time just to get the log in.
I play the game on Steam and it automatically logs me in as my current commander - how would I stop it from doing that?
Assuming that I will actually be launching the same game and not having two installs (I certainly hope not!) will my binds and my HCS custom voice attacks work as normal?
I assume that the only way to pass myself money would be to have my wife buy something of value and then eject it into space and then I retrieve it and sell it? Any recommended items that would make this easier?
I am playing the Odyssey build but we dont actually own Odyssey - no space legs for us yet.
Am I forgetting something?
Thanks in advance!

Correct.

You cold buy a copy from another sources (FDEV directly, or Epic) so the launcher is different. Also, when in the FDEV launcher, you can go to Options -> log out, and log back in under the alt CMDR name and login.

I've never mixed Steam a installation with the one I got from FDEV, so I'm not sure on that. However, I have been able to operate separate accounts on the same PC without a second installation.

Short of having a fleet carrier, no way that I know of. Honestly though, it's pretty easy to earn pretty good credits on a new account. Trying to transfer credits might be more trouble than it's worth.

If you and your wife sign into a private group session, then join as a team thru the communication panel, she can transfer goods to you.

I have done this numerous times with rares required for unlocking engineers between my alt accounts because the stations limit how many rares a ship can buy at once. Just engage nav lock between both ships, and then drop out of supercruise in the same area, somewhere outside of the station no fire zone. You deploy collector limpets first but do not target, then she abondands the cargo, your limpets collect, done.

I have bought the game through Steam and Epic. There are two separate installations, one under steamapps and another under epic games on my pc. Journals and cmdr specific logs etc are updated separately. However, both use the same user settings within the folder Frontier Developments for bindings, graphics shader options and other settings, so yes you can set the same binding file even if your alt-account is Horizons and your main is Odyssey as they both run 4.0 binds. I would imagine the HCS settings will also be stored here, but I can't state that as a fact as I don't use Voice Attack.
