Would anyone be able to help out and pick me up from where I am right now or am I basically screwed and have to self-destruct?

Fleet carriers owners club(FCOC) discord server usually has fairly regular trips to Colonia or the core(and some surrounding points of interest), so if you use discord you could check there.

Alternatively, I’m sure you can probably find someone kind enough to come fetch you. Both of those options might not always be particularly timely/quick, though.

Third alternative is to ‘suicidewinder’, as I hear it called, back to the Bubble by not taking a rebuy option after self-destructing. But I assume you don’t want to lose your Python, so…

(And remember the lesson - don’t log out parked on someone else’s fleet carrier.)

Looking at the commander scores at Holvandalla, why does transporting cowards away from an Alert system count more than the noble effort to hump desperately needed supplies to stations under threat? Anyone know the formulas?

Because you can haul less people than deliver the supplies (per ship, per hour). It's 0.2-0.3 per refugee transported, 0.05 per unit of supplies delivered, so should be somewhat equal.

wickedwisdom66I hope I picked the right forum for this question, I apologize if not. But where would I go to advertise/recruit for a newly formed squadron?

Please use Bulletin board for that.

Hi Cmdrs, how do people move up the Trade ranks nowadays, I see a lot of the new Elite I to V. I got to Elite from mining, but I really don't want to mine 5bn worth of ore.

I recently got a few cutters including a 500t 12 limpet miner and a 700t hauler. Filling the miner takes forever and I although I enjoy the first couple of hours it does start to become a chore. And I haven't cracked the hauler game loop yet, I don't like flying a hauler with an empty hold, this should always be full. I'm only making small amounts of profit, not that credits matter anymore but I'm assuming it's the profit that counts not the total value of the haul.

I think I already know the answer but I thought I would ask to see if there is something I'm missing.

P.S. I won't be grinding this, I will just add this game loop into my existing loops and casually rank up.

You could load and unload carriers advertised by FCOC.

SkrzetuskiHey guys, I'm in a bit of a pickle. Last time that I played the game, I docked into a random player's carrier and left the game. I logged back in today and found that he essentially carried me a huge distance closer to the galactic core from where I was before. I was originally doing some mining in an area that was more dense in star systems and I didn't require long distance jump capabilities, so my Python is now too heavy to make the journey back to where I was because the distance between star systems is much too large for me to be able to make those jumps myself. I also have a cargo hold full of expensive minerals but dumping the cargo didn't help much, as I still cannot make jumps that are larger than 16 light years.

I already checked the player who owns the carrier but he didn't check into the game for almost 2 months now so I'm not sure if he'll even respond if I approach him about dropping me off at some space station.

What would you guys suggest that I do? Would anyone be able to help out and pick me up from where I am right now or am I basically screwed and have to self-destruct? Will that even return me to an actual space station or am I just gonna respawn back at the same carrier?

If all else fails: Carriers have escape pods that return you to the previous non-carrier station you were docked at. From there, you could initiate a ship transfer.

Super short version
Take mining contracts for purchasable commodities, buy the commodities, complete mining contract. Fill out cargo with other items you can sell for a profit at the destination starports so you always have a full cargo hold.

Long, rambling version:
I made most of my credits either mining high value minerals, (selling 600tons at 750K per ton adds up fast if you can stand the monotony of mining and getting jumped by pirates) or taking high paying (50mil credits) mining missions and just buying the commodities at another nearby station. Of the two, I preferred buying the minable commodity rather than mining it. Plus, I think it is a better profit per hour to do this compared to straight up mining.

So what if I have to pay 15mil to buy 300 tons of gold. If a gold mining mission is paying me 50mil for those 300tons, that is still a profit of 35mil for a few minutes of work. It is still a bit grindy, but it is decent profit for almost no work other than hunting down honey pots to exploit. It has been my experience that it is easier to get the high value (50 mil each) mining missions if you are allied with the issuing faction and have a large cargo capacity. I used a dual purpose (mining/transport) Type 9 with 640 tons of cargo.

The trick is to find a small area where this can be exploited on a consistent basis. FWIW, I made almost all of my 9.6 billion in Colonia and never had to travel more than 30LY from Colonia. Of course, there were times where I depleted the minable commodities in several stations while doing this

I like this approach, I'll see if I can find material rewards, sooo short on encoded data. Could even do this in Imp/Fed space (not that I need the rank), this could be a win win win.

Mine the double platinum Hotspot and sell your ore for 200k+ at the station. Don't bother using inara to find better prices in surrounding systems it's almost always outdated or incorrect.

Both stations have 0 demand so it's a flat price. Load yourself up with a python or an anaconda. For laser mining, don't even bother with core mining. Go in, bring 100-150 limpets, mine to your hearts content for 30min-1hr. Pretty much every other asteroid has platinum and osmium, keep only those ores and ignore the rest. Even painite, they nerfed the prices to the ground despite how rare it is.

When you're full go to Brunel City (for medium landing pads and below, sells around 270k/T), or Martin Enterprise for anything you're using that requires a large landing pad. The ore sells cheaper around 200k/T but you make the difference up by the quantity you're bringing. I almost maked out my rank in a few days just building up my cash because I wiped my main file to start fresh as a newbie. Worked really well for me.

Edit* I did not bother reading the posts after yours, and im 2d late so I'm assuming someone already mentioned the above. It's pretty popular. Regardless I hope the info helps someone in the same or similar money making/trade rank predicament.

o7. Perhaps dumb questions, but: is there now, or has there ever been, a serious discussion about allowing Cmdrs to buy and sell ships from each other? A brief summary of the pros and cons would be appreciated.

Heck - while I'm at it -- same questions re: exchanging mats.....

Thanks!

My thoughts on the subject are that while it may be nice to trade items between players, it would just lead to problems. Unless you go with a barter-only system (kind of what already exists when you are trading at a tech broker), you would need to introduce the exchange of in-game currency for items. Once you introduce the ability of players to buy/sell with one another using in-game currency you open the door for money farmers to start selling game currency online.

Greetings CMDRs,

I unlocked Broo Tarquin and got the upgrades to energy weapons pinned. I wanted to outfit my Anaconda for running trade routes in case of pirate attacks with energy weapons. I when to engineer to find the pinned blueprints, but they aren't there. I check to make sure I had pinned them from the engineers page and I had, but i cannot modify my anaconda lasers at all. Why not?? Why isn't my engineering tab at starports showing the pinned blueprints??

Silly questions but...

1) Is the correct energy weapon loaded on the ship? For example, you engineered beam lasers but put pulse lasers on the ship.
2) Do you you have the necessary components to perform the engineering?
3) have you logged out and then back in since pinning the blueprints?
