James WolfheartI'm trying to learn how Inara works. Where do I find this file?

"EliteOCR/MarketConnector prices import
Drop *.csv file here or click to select"

Would be better if I could improve all the prices I come across in my trading travels than just manually update the few items I trade.

EliteOCR - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=68771
Elite Market Connector - https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteTraders/comments/38o255/elite_dangerous_market_connector/

FYI: Market Connector is the best option, but for now is not working since Horizons because Frontier has the API server down, no known ETA about it.

That's great info. I'll try to keep myself updated about when the API server comes back online so that I can use the Market Connector.
Thank you for the assistance.

there are sooooooo many factions/powers etc in elite.. i get so confused..

so there are major powers (10 right?) and they are either empire, independent or feds.. then there are minor factions that are all over the place? then there are system factions? is that right?

and player groups can officially become in game factions... and they could potentially become powers? how does that work? if a player group gets set up they get a home system right? but how do they expand? if they go to an adjacent system and start killing stuff you will get bounties etc and negative influence in the empire/fed etc?

soo many factions, soo many changes with every action i take.. brain... melting...

Here's the breakdown:

3 = Number of major factions. These are Alliance, Empire, Federation. Rank with these determines naval rank, which unlocks access to certain ships. (Alliance does not have naval rank.) Affection determines if a system controlled by a minor faction allied with one of the three major factions likes you or not. (Not sure if this has any benefit yet.)

10 = Number of Powerplay factions. I don't remember their names off the top of my head. Rank with these determines access to Powerplay-exclusive modules for your ship.

Unknown = Number of minor NPC factions. Rank and affection with minor factions appears to determine what kind of missions you get from bulletin boards where these minor factions have influence. Doing missions for factions is a core part of switching control of systems from one faction to another. A faction in charge of a station influences its marketplace (if present) and security protocol - if an Anarchy-aligned faction is in charge of a High Tech station, it will produce Narcotics, but if a Corporate-aligned faction is in charge it will not. No idea if it affects anything else.

Unknown, but a much smaller unknown than the previous unknown = Number of player-driven minor factions. Same deal with NPC minor factions except these are inspired by player groups who have followed a protocol to have their group added to the game as a minor faction. (No idea what that protocol is.)

And that's the breakdown of factions in Elite: Dangerous. Coming up next - which shampoo is right for you?

To get a player controlled faction you must have a registered group then you email zac with the details of tbe faction you want to create and he will submit the request and hopefully after that you should have your own faction

so when the player faction is set up, do you have to give a member list so that you are all in that faction?

Only when you Register a group you cant officially join your faction, the only thing different about the player controlled factions is u get to chose the name, allegiance, government etc

yeah

i was bountyhunting in a system and went back to a station to reload, and there were ~10 players there all belonging to the minor faction based in that system. all of them had [factiontag] after their commander names..
