Kasumi Goto ... part of it is roleplay which I built pretty much entirely around this Thargoid stuff. And that my (main) character shares the trait of "has no interest in political scenes" [technically both don't]. And the Thargoid PvE interactions (combat or otherwise) also tend to be far more interesting than blowing up aimbotty human ships that also spam chaff every second (or two) and which generally revolves primarily around stacking shield hitpoints.


You have mentioned several times that you have never fought Thargoids. How will this work?

Probably nothing. Although, I have plan to make character history and engage in roleplay. I have concept of the Emperor's fanatically loyal dog. With love to enemy (federal) ships. What's better, system in which i have to commits crimes is system where i give lot of money in charity quest, to make reputation to get ranks in Federal Navy. This is great background for moral dilemmas for writing a page from Capitan's Diary.

You're not worth replying to in length, so I am just going to repeat I have a second account with which I have fought Thargoids, and that I did on my main account for a few initial months of the Thargoid war.

Controller Commanders: how did you map the flight/rotational controls?

Personally, I have one set of controls
- where LS is up/down for pitch, left/right for roll, with yaw as toggled (hold) with a backpaddle
- and RS is up/down for vertical thrusters, left/right for lateral thrusters
My alternative flight controls have yaw bound to RS left/right, so no lateral thrusters there.
FA on/off is LS pressed.

I'm more used to my alternative flight controls, as they are pretty standard for a flight sim. But full thruster control is necessary in combat, so I went with that as my standard. How about you?

yeah, this one just had to raid any settlements looking for power containers in undermining system and thats it. If only they could explain a bit better.

It's all frags with high cap and screening shell. If you want to make it more ridiculous, you could go with overcharged and screening shell.

Surprisingly enough, replacing HiCap with Overcharged changes the sustained DPS very little (and for 2D/G frags it actually decreases them) because the HiCap blueprint increases both the the ROF and clip size (meaning less frequent reloads). If you wanted to make it even more ridiculous, go for the Rapid Fire effect instead; you can then get the sustained DPS of 607.5

(Although I would go for corrosive shell in one of the class 2 frags instead of screening shell, as that effectively doubles the DPS once shields are gone.)

Rapid fire could be interesting, but the reduced ammo is a problem if you focus on staying power. For one-hit assassinations, this might work fine. But I am not sure with corrosive, it's reducing ammo too much without giving necessarily more oomph (especially if you can have screening shell). Frags are fun, right?

Yup, it would be an assassination build, not very useful for scenarios like HazRES or CZ (unless one is willing to spend a lot of materials synthing ammo).

That’s why I’d put corrosive on one class 2 frag cannon only (others would have screening shell). Putting corrosive on more than one weapon is a waste because the effect does not stack, but it does increase the effective DPS for all weapons while it lasts.

They are I haven’t played that much with frags (lacking sufficient interest in pure non-AX combat builds to spend the necessary play time to engineer them properly — although with the recent abundance of high grade materials, I may give it a try), but I have noticed they do pack a good punch.

While the effect is active, incoming damage from all sources is increased by 25%, and all attacks receive a +20 bonus to their armour piercing value .[


Now how is 25% increase DMG on ALL weapons not "giving necessarily more oomph"? And I have absolutely no problem finishing a busy CZ with that reduced load, I do it 5/6 times a day.

Now obviously, if you waste shells, corrosive or not on active shields it's not gonna work for you.

I did not only read the wiki article, I also TESTED it under real combat conditions in an all-Frag build (i.e. only Frags to drop shields) and screening shell is BY FAR the superior mod in ALL CASES, including killing Anacondas, Type-10s, Corvettes, and Cutters. The increased fire rate BY FAR compensates for any other mod you could put on a Frag. Having four large Frags and two mediums, all with screening shell, makes your Python Mk2 a spitball of death. You could put corrosive on one of the mediums, but it will not increase your kill time so significantly that the reduction of ammo is warranted. Now, if you are going for a single assassination mission build, you could do it (and replace High Capacity with Rapid Fire, see the other convo) but again: it is not necessary and does not improve your performance too much. Again, I've tested this, otherwise I would not make that statement.
