Some call it the loop of shame. Others prefer to qualify it as a tactical braking maneuver to throw off pursuers trying to interdict.
... and the cinematic appears to indicate it smoothly looped around in a close orbit anyway.
May I suggest not letting Duamta fall just in case that has any negative consequences. You know, with the Aegis headquarters there and whatnot. I should also mention there is only a week in which to defend those systems.

(I continue to be annoyed with the whole 100% and "thargoids disappear" invasion mechanic. I want a little more video game in my video game; sacrifice the story a little for the sake of gameplay.)
And it seems there's no Community Goal? So... my reward is just wracking up Thargoid kills as if it's a regular invasion on the fringes?

Drop into any system with the Thargoid icon on it in the GalMap, select a CZ in the Nav panel, fly to it, pew-pew.
Also, on the flight there or before you even leave your station: turn off "Report Crimes" in your right panel "Ship" tab.
Focus on survivability for your first AXCZs. Don't worry about kills; practice heat management and damage control.

I would suspect there's a CG coming after Cocijo explodes? Relief efforts for Sol or something. But I do agree that a CG around this invasion would've been nice, something that you can participate for the next two weeks. Otherwise it's all FOMO. I only think that Sol will take two weeks, clearing all invasions and making Cocijo vulnerable.
