I understand your preference, Thinder. My thought, purely opinion, is finding the right fit. So, for you, for example: What types of ships do you prefer? What style of piloting? If your idea is to fly big ships and take on single targets, then you're already experimenting with potential concerns like heat management, threat management, and hardpoint convergence. If you want to get in, shred targets, and get out, then you'll need to adjust your builds and piloting.
This is what I'm doing, getting within Scanner range, seeing the target heart, hit it and bug out.
For the Scouts I have little issue taking them down.

- I flew my favored AX build (Chieftain), killed an Interceptor (Cyclops) and about 3 Scouts 1v1. (That's one style. My preferred AX playstyle; floating in the cold, sniping one target for a long long time. Sniping nice and slow.)
[li]I flew my Anaconda AX build (recent addition), killed a dozen or so Scouts and an Interceptor (Cyclops) in an AXCZ on Solo. .
I'm not at this level yet, An interceptor in a 1 vs 1 is still a bit much for me but I kill dozen of Scouts on my own, last, during an interception on my way back to the station, we cleaned the CZ and I opted for repair and reload.
IndyEach ship has a different "feel" and a different intention. My Chieftain can stay out (whether 1v1 or AXCZ) for a long time. The other two are there for the kills.
I have a Pre-built Chieftain but I just finished the Anaconda build and engineering, I still have to take care of the Chieftain.
I treated the Anaconda with some little extras: Pre-Engineered 0I HEAT SINK LAUNCHER and 2B AUTO FIELD-MAINTENANCE UNIT Shielded ︎︎︎, 6D FRAME SHIFT DRIVE (SCO) Faster boot sequence ︎︎︎︎︎ Thermal Spread.
If this war goes on long enough, I should be able to use the experience I have with previous build for the other ships, my Corvette needs completing as well as the Chieftain, it takes time and resources.
