Elite roleplay: Off station

OFF STATION

Your ship, deep space, anything that is not happening inside the Citi Gateway or Ingaba...

General Roleplay Etiquette:

1. Control only the actions of your own character(s). (AKA: God Mode)
This doesn't matter how small the action is, even if it is as simple as scratching their nose or a direct reaction to something else that just happened. This applies to everything from casual conversation to full blown fight scenes. If you'd like someone to do something specific, PM that person, however keep in mind they are completely within their rights to say no. Especially if said action is inappropriate to their character and/or circumstance.

2. Don't brute force your way into another persons RP.
Approaching with a conversation starter is fine, or indeed some other small action. However charging in, guns blazing and disrupting the flow of another person/pair/groups conversation/arc is about as rude as doing so in real life. If something is going on that you'd like to participate in, be subtle about it. Put out a gentle hook for someone to take, but again, be aware that said hook may not be taken. If you fear it was simply unnoticed, PM the person or people it concerns. Or even leave a message in the OOC forums.

3. Good grammar and spelling is preferred.
We're not asking you to be perfect, but please at least demonstrate willingness. no1 iz gna tak u srsly usng txt spk. There's a wide variety of people here, many who speak English as a second, or even third language. There are even some with varying degrees of dyslexia and/or likely other issues that affect spelling/grammar. We accept them all here. However, people who aren't accepted, are those unwilling to accept polite correction. Remember that even a small thing like the placement of a comma, or the wrong use of there/their/they're can completely change the definition of an entire sentence.

4. Accept constructive criticism gracefully and politely.
If someone spots an issue with your writings, they may wish to help you improve that writing. They may do this through PM or even publicly air their thoughts on the OOC forum. If they have taken the time to be polite and explain what is wrong with your writing, the best way to behave is to respond in kind, using the same manner they have approached you with. It means they have taken an active interest in what you have written and wish to see more. Basically, you have a fan!

5. Don't take the actions or opinions of things done IN RP, to be directly relevant to the writers thoughts or opinions.
Basically, if some ones character calls your character a jackass, it doesn't mean the writer thinks you are a jackass. It's a ROLE they are PLAYING. Watch a movie. The argument between the characters isn't an argument between the actors involved. The same applies here.

6. It's not a popularity contest.
Your RP might be bustling with participants. You have 3 people off station in a fire fight, while another 2 are infiltrating the darkest areas of the station, meanwhile a group of 4 others are tracking your movements in an effort to stop you. Good for you, I'm sure it will be a thrilling read! But you know what? Sometimes the absolute BEST work, comes from two RP characters having a simple heart to heart. Both are valid, both are great, but NEITHER is categorically better than the other. Period.

Inara RP Etiquette:

1. Respect the setting and rules of the universe.
Inara is an Elite: Dangerous 3rd Party Tool. The RP Forums are set in the Elite: Dangerous universe. Elite: Dangerous has rules, as any fictional universe does from Lord of the Rings to Star Wars, or Game of Thrones to Star Trek. If you intend to RP within the Elite: Dangerous universe you are bound by the history and rules of that universe. Simply put, this RP forum is bound by the same rules as the game, so if it can't be done in the game, it is not permitted here. This applies to things from a 50Ly Jump Range on a normal, unmodified Sidewinder, to the destruction of entire stations.

2. Respect the characters created by others.
We have a wide variety of characters already here. It's expected that some will be similar, just as it's expected that two characters will be vastly different. Opinions of each persons character will naturally be varied, but all are valid provided they follow the rules of the universe. You are allowed to interact with, or avoid interaction with, any character in the RP forums. But you have no right to belittle others for their creation. You are not an authority figure on writing, nor are you directly affected by another persons imagination. You might not like it, but you MUST respect it.

3. Be caught up on current events before joining in.
You need basic things like character descriptions in order to interact with them. You also need to know what's going on in the surrounding areas. This is simply because the people you are hoping to RP with, might be gearing up to something that you might not want to be part of. Or simply that the most recent post, out of context, could leave a different impression on the goings on than if you gather that context. We don't expect you to read every single post from the beginning of the forums, just enough to get that basic understanding.

4. Either subscribe to, or frequently check, the Roleplay: Q&A and OOC forum.
People may be discussing something relevant to you there, or even discussing you directly. Perhaps someone asked what the general consensus on the existence or non-existence of a certain object. Or we're just chatting about random gibberish. Either way, be aware of it and use it. If you're unsure about something, such as how guns would look and or behave, or even the music selection, use the OOC forum to ask. We don't have all of the answers, but the collective knowledge and logic usually allows us to overcome an issue and come to a decision on what should be allowed. Frontier Developments, and even David Braben himself, don't have the answers to every possible question that can be asked.

5. Large Scale events exploding out of nowhere are a complete no go.
We get it. Everyone wants their character to be noticed and for people to be tripping over themselves to interact with them. In some audiences, an introduction involving you blasting in for landing in a fiery wreckage of a ship, before cart wheeling out and sword fighting 35 Ninjas before whisking off with the local celebrity for a glorious night of passion, is in fact, cool. This is not one of those audiences. It is generally considered better to build your character up slowly over time. Eventually, you might even have a legitimate excuse to fight those Ninjas. Maybe even with other RP participants by your side.

6. Perfect characters are boring.
The point of a character arc, is that it is in fact, an arc shape. One who is morally unquestionable, fully kitted out and an infinite fountain of knowledge, cannot go through an arc. Give your character flaws. Be it a tendency towards befriending the wrong people, or a bad knee that frequently gives out at inopportune moments. It gives readers something to latch onto and empathise with. You can give your character exceptional capabilities at something, but it requires balance. She's a damn good pilot with no equal, but can't drive an SRV for peanuts. It can lead to some very interesting moments between characters, be it heartfelt or comedic.

Other Notes:
It should be noted that there can be exceptions to these points. For example, good grammar when a character is speaking is actually rare. Few people in real life actually speak with perfect eloquence after all. Or previously arranged actions during a fight scene, such as someone stumbling back after a punch. What's key to remember is context.

All in all, remember this is purely for fun. We have some seriously talented writers here, and others whose writing history starts and ends at high school. But many are willing to help out in whatever way they can. All it takes is that you ask nicely.

Also keep in mind that many people who RP here, also have logbook stories related to the character, or characters, they portray. If it looks like there's an "in joke" going on that you're unsure of, it's probably in those.

In fact, some users have even gone to the trouble of creating "alts" to RP with. If you read back far enough, it's usually pretty clear who has and hasn't, and which ones are the "alts". It's therefore not unheard of to see the apparent seizing of control of other characters. If you do spot one, point it out in the OOC section. If intervention is needed, it will be sorted quickly and (hopefully) politely.

Most, if not all RP participants here have Logbook stories pertaining to their character(s). These are for the reading pleasure of anyone who wishes to do so. While it can be useful to read them in order to gain a bit of backstory on a character you wish to interact with, it should not be assumed that your character shares that knowledge. Within the E:D Universe, these Logbooks either don't exist, or are private diaries kept by the characters. Either way, without explicit statements to say otherwise from the writer, your interactions should reflect that your character is in the dark about any information you, the writer/reader, have gained from reading the stories.

When the boarding ramp descended, Suzi jumped off the crates she was sitting on and wondered over to meet Maul. Lilose followed close behind, her foxelcat clinging onto her shoulder purring sweetly. She stayed close behind her mom eager to see this Maul person her mom and aunty Lamb talk about from time to time.

As Maul waved to her, Suzi returned the greeting.

“Hey Ghoulie good to see you again; it’s been years. This is Lilose” Suzi saw Silas behind Maul and knew something serious must be going down, but they were being casual right now so there was no need for action stations just yet.
“Hey Silas, I had a feeling you would be coming too, but I didn’t know you guys were gonna arrive together”
She warmly shook Silas’ hand, and hugged Maul planting a kiss on his cheek.

Two security guards from Silas' mercenary force wondered into the bay to see who had landed. On seeing their boss, General Silas, the owner of the mercenary fleet, and the Chairwoman of the fleet they were assigned to protect just casually chatting made them shit themselves. They stood so rigidly to attention when they made eye contact with the group of friends chatting by the DBX, they quivered like over tightened guitar strings. Suzi didn't notice them, she was distracted by her daughter holding on to her leg, shuffling impatiently.

“Say hello Li, you know Mr Cousland, and this is Mr Montresor” prompted Suzi

“Hello mister Cowsland. Hello mister Monster” said Lilose in a monotone voice without braking eye contact with Maul.

He was being subjected to soul boring stair that only the young and innocent, as yet uninitiated into social niceties can achieve.

“So” continued Suzi “I don’t know what all this is about, but I had your guys send over some of your personal ships Silas, and we got you both a sh..” Suzi glanced at her daughter “..shed load of amm.. tools and uniforms for your trade ya know? She said to the men with heavily implied winks.

“Your ship ready to go Ghoulie, but didn’t get too intrusive with detailing coz of ya whil-E-booby traps”

That covered everything she had been able to prepare for the guys with no idea what was going on, now she just need to know one thing.

“Ok so, what ass.. .idiot rattled you cages this time”

“Ok so, what ass.. .idiot rattled you cages this time”

"Do you even need to ask?" Silas said with a chuckle.

"We're gonna need... hang on." Silas interrupted himself and turned toward his men.

"You guys clench those cheeks any tighter, the LTDs you're gonna shi... uh, excrete... are gonna fetch well above galactic average. Lighten up fellas."

"Uh... yes sir." they said in unison, looking awkwardly at each other. Now they seemed even more confused how to act.

Just then, Silas felt a tug at the bottom of his jacket, and looked down to see Lilose looking expectantly up at him. They stared at each other for a brief moment, before the man finally broke.

"OK... just one." he said, fishing a small bag of candies out of one of his many inside pockets and offering it to the little girl, who happily chose two and walked back over behind Suzi with a "Thanks, Mr. Cowsland" where she popped one in her mouth and resumed her intense scrutiny of Maul.

Silas turned his attention back to Suzi.

"Anyway... we're gonna need to know where she is." Before she could provide whatever canned response Lamb had had her rehearse, he raised a hand and added: "Where she really is."
04 Jan 2022, 8:02pm
Maul intermittently glanced down at Lilose who had been keeping her eyes locked on him. Just before Suzi could answer Silas, Maul interjected by kneeling down to Lilose's eyelevel.

"Alright, is it the hair, the tattoos, the piercings, or the eyes?" Maul asked, pointing at each thing on him as he listed them off. This wasn't the first time he'd been subjected to a child's curiosity.

Lilose had receded further back behind Suzi's leg, only looking at Maul with one eye from around her mother's thigh.

"Eye." A single word came from Lilose, her voice very quiet and faint.

Maul smiled and nodded.

"Some bad men took them from me to because I saw things they didn't want me to see." Maul tilted his head to better see Lilose. "So, I got these new ones to see all that their secrets even better." He said, finishing with an even bigger smile.

Lilose stepped out from behind her mother ever so slightly and popped the other piece of candy that she had received from Silas in her mouth.

"Oh." She responded, her voice monotone. "Did you get the bad men?"

Lilose was surrounded by mercenaries and despite Suzi's attempt to keep her from being exposed to the darker side of things, she seemed to know there was always some sort of 'bad men' to fight.

Maul glanced up at Suzi before responding. She appeared to be interested in his answer as well, but there was a hint of motherly concern on her face. She probably didn't want Maul to divulge too much graphic detail to her child.

He looked back to Lilose and answered with a simple:

"Yep."

As Maul stood back up, Lilose stepped out from behind Suzi while still clenching on to her leg.

"Lamb's in trouble, Suz, and we don't have a lot of time, otherwise we'd give you the entire rundown on the situation. But if you can give us her flight plans and her current location right now, I'll shoot you the deets once we're aboard The Ghoul."

Maul poked a few times on the screen attached to the forearm of his Maverick suit.

"And if you do have questions, you can contact us here. It's my personal com, so it's secure line. It'll lower the chances of any sort of interception."

Lilose took her foxelcat from around her neck and cradled it so she could tickle its belly. The thing cooed a purr that even the most emotionless sociopath would recognise as sweet. Now she was confident that Mister Montresor was not in face a monster at all, Lilose had questions.

“Why are you called a monster when you’re not a monster? And mommy said you got a big nose. Did you get a new nose too? Auntie Lamb said you can’t keep your nose out of other people computers and that’s why she had to kill all of mister Ortigas’ friends and that’s why he’s so mean and has robot legs now. So..”

“Darling, could you ask those nice men to take you to the vending machine and get mommy a wrap, and you can have what every you want to” interrupted Suzi pushing her daughter towards the guards that were doing their best to look relaxed and casual around their two bosses.

Smiling and trying not to let her embarrassment show, Suzi got back to business.

“Umm, if you guys have kids, never trick Lamb into babysitting them. Trust me” she said in way of explanation. “So Lambs on a Cartel job somewhere out beyond Colonia. We know some of the guys on board are wanted or dangerous, but that’s kind of what Cartel jobs are all about”

Tapping away on her wrist computer, Suzi brought up the projected flight plan, not the one registered with the Pilots Federation.

“Ok, that’s as far as she knew flight plan wise, all we know about the job, and the specs of the Conda Lamb is using. Lamb was gonna make a stop at a carrier or two around here..“ Suzi highlighted a system between the bubble and Colonia “..to pick up some supplies because the people hiring the ship will be making modifications to it about now, and it’ll be offline for hours at a time.

She sent the job specs to Maul and Silas so they could follow along.

“The followers of the Unseen Eye want to make their custom cargo bay deployable, like the Conda can drop it once they make land fall. That’s gonna be a lot of work; the ship will only get powered up to recharge batteries and recycle the air for a while until the work is finished”

Tapping along to the next page, Suzi brought up the report on the destinations moon the followers wanted to land on.

“As you can see, the journeys end is a hell-scape of molten glass tornadoes encasing an inferno of constant dust storms carried in noxious gas. Lovely place that needs an experienced hand to land on. Unfortunately, the leader of the followers will only let Lamb know just how far beyond Colonia the place is once the modifications are completed”

Once the data was sent to the guys slates, Suzi gave them a shrug.

“Err, the Followers came to the Reach from Sothis five, and that’s all I got for you. Emerson of the Cartel may know more, but he’s not gonna be talkative. Anyway, he’d luuuve to see you again Ghoulie”

She patted the hard cases she had been using as a seat while she waited for the guys to arrive.

“Now I know what ya want, I don’t think this lot will be any use to you, but I can have it loaded on ya ship if ya need weapons ammo and armour. We are on our way to aid the rescue on the other side of the bubble, so I wanna jump this carrier ASAP, unless you guys need anything else?”
05 Jan 2022, 7:10pm
"Umm...Emerson is...here?" Asked Maul, between gritting teeth.

The event's that took place on Hauser's Reach in Robigo years ago still haunted Maul's memories. He had no intention on ever seeing the man who captured him ever again.

He cleared his throat and snapped out of his memories and back into the moment.

"...I should...uh...probably go give The Ghoul a good once over and get it prepped."

He then began to turn and walk toward the hangar lifts without saying another word but stopped and stepped back towards Suzi and Silas.

"Sorry. It really was nice seeing you again Suzi, please keep my diamondback safe. I'll be back for it soon."

"Silas, you're the expert here. If you think we'll need all this gear, just have them load it on The Ghoul. I'll see you in a bit."

Maul then hastily made his way towards the lifts.
05 Jan 2022, 10:01pm
Maul definitely seemed shaken, and Silas took note. He began going through a few of the crates on the pile that Suzi was previously using as a chair in awkward silence for a minute or so until the lift doors had closed behind Maul.

Silas looked around before seeing what he was looking for, and walked over to a toolbox on a workbench next to the crates, where he retrieved a paint marker.

"So... this Ortega here? What can you tell me about him? Maul's not a special forces veteran or anything, but he tends to keep his head under fire. Why's he so shaken by this guy?" Silas asked, marking a container with the paint marker.
05 Jan 2022, 11:14pm
“Oh damn it, I didn’t even think, just blurted it out” Suzi held her brow and shook her head. “He’s the face of the cartel back on Robigo. Why would Ghoulie even think he’d be on my damn carrier? I only mentioned it coz other than playing detective in Sothis, that dick-wads got a chance of knowing something about the crazies Lambs carrying”

Suzi got out of Silas way while he marked the containers he wanted.

“He’s the dude that the real leaders work through, you know, lieutenant or like, right hand man kind of ass hole. His file was in your companies’ initial brief, and he’s always in the weekly updates we send your office. Anyway, years ago when we were setting up the first routs, Maul was here and he poked around systems that he shouldn’t; naturally the cartel nabbed him”

“They had him for almost two days before Lamb got him out and as well as the torture, Maul had a kill or be killed situation for the first time ever I think. And ya know, Lamb was fresh out of the services at the time; still hench as any god damn body builder, and ‘kick your balls out ya ears in front of the kids’ violent. So after a harrowing experience, he gets a roid-rage Lamb drag him out of there through a sword and board blood bath”

Suzi paused and reflected on the bad old days for a moment. She remembered her job interview as a pilot for the fledgling liner company. It started with her hearing a fist-fight, and ended with Suzi pointing a gun at goons from the local crime syndicate. It was an all-in, or get the fuck out moment. Knowing Lamb was good for the bank account, but unusually dangerous.

“Yeah, so all that’s gonna have an effect on a young impressionable tech-geek from the farm. Look, apologise to him for me yeah? We like Ghoulie here; he’s always in the computers somewhere keeping an eye on things”

"Yeah, he does that" Silas said with an approving look, marking the last container and replacing the cap on the paint marker.

He turned around and leaned back on the crates where Suzi had been previously.

"That's how we ended up here to begin with, actually. Got a message out of the blue from him that he had some concerns about her passengers. He's a little bit like God, but with less tact and more piercings." He paused to chuckle sensibly at his own analogy.

"Don't worry, I'll calm him down." he added, already pulling up Vigilia records on his slate. If Ortega was in the brief, then there was probably a detail assigned to him, which meant surveillance. He figured that ought to help with Maul's nerves.

"Speaking of calming him down..." Silas said, turning back and reading crates, finally opening a specific one marked 'medical'. He rifled through it until he found what he was looking for... a small silver pouch discreetly marked 'OH-β'.
"...this'll do nicely."

Maul sat on the dash of the Krait where the scanner would be displayed when the ship was powered on. His feet dangling over a rats nest of cables running through various crevasses and holes around the cockpit. He smiled as he scrolled through old pictures he'd taken on his data slate when suddenly the ships security system alerted him to someone using the lift outside of the ship. A holo display appeared in front of him, from where Maul was the orientation wasn't correct for viewing. Reluctantly scooching off the dash and walking through the display, he lazily flopped down into the pilots seat to see a live feed of Silas coming up the lift. In the background a few men could be seen carrying some of the crates Suzi had offered them.

Maul pressed a button to power up the ship. The ships HUD and internal lights blinked to life. After a few moments Maul opened the cargo hatch to allow the men to load the cargo on board.

He looked at his slate again, on screen was a picture that Vega had taken of herself on one of the rare occasions that she'd find Maul too distracted to notice his data slate missing. With a sigh, he pocketed the slate and awaited Silas' arrival to the cockpit.
08 Jan 2022, 10:25am
Standing on the obviation platform with Lilose sitting on her hip, Suzi watched Mauls’ ship truck forward, ready to launch. Lilose was holding her mommys’ state, strobe light flashing so Mr Cowslad the sweeties man, and Mr Monster that's not a monster, could see her waving them bomb voyage. Aunty Lamb was teaching Lilose French; it wasn’t going well.

Suzi activated her ear-stud and called Naomi Chizimu, the head liaison officer between Silas’ Vigilia Defence Force, and her own Lambaconda Cruise. The young woman was the best PA ever, and an invaluable member of both companies.

“Naomi, have Ortigas whereabouts tracked and find out what you can about the Followers addresses, you know the freaks Lamb is transporting? Yeah, well find out all the last addresses, family and all that, will you? Headquarters on Sothis five, ok?”

There was a short pause.

“You’re a gem Naomi. Have it readied for Silas and Ghoulie if they ask”

“Is Aunty Lamb in trouble mommy?” asked Lilose still waving.

“No darling; her passengers are if Mr Cousland and Mr Montresor find out they have been naughty”
10 Jan 2022, 6:06pm
The lift arrived at its destination, and Silas could see that the ship had already been powered on and the cargo bay was open. The men with him immediately began moving crates over to the ship.

"Hey," Silas said, stopping one of the men. "Make sure this one is accessible, put it on top or something would you please?" he asked, pointing at one of the crates. The man nodded and went to talk to his colleagues.

From there Silas made his way onto the ship, slate in one hand, small silver pouch in the other. He reached the cockpit and pressed the button, the cockpit door opened with a clunk, as if it had tried to open just a little further or with more force than it was supposed to. Silas' instinct was to try to fix it, and he stood for a second looking at it before finally reminding his brain that they had more important things to do. Maul didn't react, he just stayed where he was, looking a a video feed of the lift where Suzi's men were moving the last couple crates to the ship. The man really wasn't himself.

Silas walked over in front of Maul, and leaned on the dash opposite the seat he was sitting in

"Hey man, Suzi wanted me to give you her apologies. She didn't mean to rattle you. Ortega is not on the carrier, man. Here..." he said, handing Maul his slate that still had the Vigilia dossier and surveillance info up.
"That link on the left there is a live feed, if one is available. Obviously we can't record him everywhere 24/7."

He gave Maul a second to look at the slate before making his next offering.

"...I also grabbed this for you, if you want me to fly the first shift." Silas held out his hand with the silver pouch, offering it to Maul.
11 Jan 2022, 6:01pm
Maul hadn't heard a word Silas' had said after handing him the slate with Ortega's dossier. He skimmed the details and clicked the link to the live feed. His eyes widened and his grip tightened on the slate. Ortega was alive and well and that was enough to piss Maul off. His brow furrowed, his teeth grinding. Anyone who knew Maul well enough could tell by the look on his face that he was planning something. But then at that moment, it finally registered that Silas was offering Maul something else in a silver pouch.

"Oh, sorry." He said, rejoining reality and taking the pouch.

Maul opened it and peeked inside.

"Whoa...is this Beta strain?" He asked, checking the markings on the pouch.

He pulled the string on the pouch to close it again and looked up at Silas.

"Thanks. This shit usually sets me straight." He pocketed the pouch and stood up.

"If you really don't mind taking first shift, I would appreciate it. I reckon I'm just going to go back to my cabin and try to clear my head a bit."

He patted Silas' shoulder and turned towards the cockpit exit.

"Oh, this ship is much safer than my diamondback, by the way." He said stopping just short of leaving. "No makeshift traps on this one. This is kinda my home away from home, so if you need to hit the head or check out the cargo those guys loaded up or something, it's mostly safe. Just mind the wires." Maul grinned as he turned back towards the exit.

Continued from

‘That was an odd meeting’ went through Lambs mind after Mister Vandeman left so abruptly. She had put aside another ten minutes or so for the discussion. Now, at a loose end, Lamb dumbed a tattoo on the desk with her fingers.

Orwell Vandeman was an interesting fellow she mused. He led a cult, so he had to have some amazing charisma, even though Lambast couldn’t see it. The mask did make him enigmatic she supposed, but it was a heavy-handed tool to use simply to maintain an air of mystery. There had to be more to the mask than that.

His accent was remarkable, and the way he pronounced some words was a treat to behold. He talked utter nonsense all the time, but Lamb found herself enjoying it. She’d met a man with an accent just like it as a young girl. A Federal diplomat that was visiting the embassy where her father worked. Her dad had described the accent as ‘Southern Dandy’ a title Lamb rather liked. The handsome young aid to the ambassador with luxurious dark hair snorted and said “Carpet-bagger is a better fit” causing everyone to quietly laugh behind the ambassadors’ back. She never learned the etymology of the term Carpet-Bagger, but it seemed to fit mister Vanderman very well indeed.

She couldn’t shake the feeling she had unwittingly been playing a game, or taken part in a test or some sort. Lamb was a little surprised to find she was slightly annoyed that she couldn't know if she had passed.

Jobs that came from the Cartel usually had more going on than they let Lamb know, but the families never over stepped the bounds of the deal. To run a liner company out of Robigo, you paid the Sirius Corporation a stupidly high tax, and you transported whatever the Cartel wanted moving. Lambs special arrangement with the head family didn’t change that version of taxation all that much, but after that chat with Vandeman, Lamb was curious.
12 Jan 2022, 7:33pm
Silas watched Maul leave, and after a few seconds found the motivation to get himself moving. He put some coffee on for himself before walking back to the Captain's seat where his slate was sitting, open to the surveillance live feed.

He picked the slate up, and returned to Ortega's dossier. He was about to send Maul an invitation to access, before realizing that it's Maul. Instead, he checked his access audit log to find that his own account had accessed the information not 30 seconds ago from a device named "You got haxxed, lol".

It was either Maul politely leaving a breadcrumb he could easily have hidden, or an amateur hacker so idiotic that Maul would delete them from the internet. Either way, Silas wasn't concerned.

Silas walked back over to the coffee maker, and set the slate down, noticing as he did so a fresh crack in the bottom corner of the screen where Maul had been white-knuckling it earlier. He shrugged it off and poured himself a coffee, subsequently downed it, and then poured another, before safely stowing the slate for the journey and settling himself into the captains chair and going through his pre-flight checklist. Just like the Arbiter, he felt right at home.

"MA-50K, The Ghoul, requesting takeoff path from pad 7" he said into the ship comms.

'And into the black we go' he said to himself, sipping his coffee and settling in for the long flight toward Colonia.
15 Jan 2022, 6:57am
A while later Maul reemerged through the cockpit door. His mag boots making an unsteady beat across the floor as he made his way to the pilot seat. He stood still as a statue with a confused look on his face and stared at Silas. His eyes began to glaze over.

"Pfft!" Maul suddenly broke over into a laugh.

"Silas!" He exclaimed, pointing at Silas.

"I couldn't remember your name for a second! I was all like 'Sam...no...Seal...Cooper?"

Maul turned and rested his bum near the sensor panel, waving his hand through the holo projection of the star they were currently using to refuel.

"I was sitting back there trying to relax think about stuff. Then I started thinking about you. Then I realized 'Wait a sec, I don't actually know much about this guy'. Then I walked out here and forgot your name. Then I started....talking.....but you probably already knew that part."

Maul briefly glanced over at Silas before continuing to play with the holo projection.

"So, lemme-ask you somthin', space cowboy..." His accent suddenly resembling that of an old timey cowboy.

"How'd you get into..." He took a deep breath and looked at Silas as he waved his arms around for dramatic effect "Ya know...all of this?"

"Now, I've seen your criminal record. Impressive by the way. Big fan. Autograph later?"

Maul began to laugh at himself but shook his head and tried to concentrate.

"No, but there's a lot to be said about what happened before and between all of those things."
