Elite roleplay: Off station

OFF STATION

Your ship, deep space, anything that is not happening inside the Citi Gateway or Ingaba...

General Roleplay Etiquette:

1. Control only the actions of your own character(s). (AKA: God Mode)
This doesn't matter how small the action is, even if it is as simple as scratching their nose or a direct reaction to something else that just happened. This applies to everything from casual conversation to full blown fight scenes. If you'd like someone to do something specific, PM that person, however keep in mind they are completely within their rights to say no. Especially if said action is inappropriate to their character and/or circumstance.

2. Don't brute force your way into another persons RP.
Approaching with a conversation starter is fine, or indeed some other small action. However charging in, guns blazing and disrupting the flow of another person/pair/groups conversation/arc is about as rude as doing so in real life. If something is going on that you'd like to participate in, be subtle about it. Put out a gentle hook for someone to take, but again, be aware that said hook may not be taken. If you fear it was simply unnoticed, PM the person or people it concerns. Or even leave a message in the OOC forums.

3. Good grammar and spelling is preferred.
We're not asking you to be perfect, but please at least demonstrate willingness. no1 iz gna tak u srsly usng txt spk. There's a wide variety of people here, many who speak English as a second, or even third language. There are even some with varying degrees of dyslexia and/or likely other issues that affect spelling/grammar. We accept them all here. However, people who aren't accepted, are those unwilling to accept polite correction. Remember that even a small thing like the placement of a comma, or the wrong use of there/their/they're can completely change the definition of an entire sentence.

4. Accept constructive criticism gracefully and politely.
If someone spots an issue with your writings, they may wish to help you improve that writing. They may do this through PM or even publicly air their thoughts on the OOC forum. If they have taken the time to be polite and explain what is wrong with your writing, the best way to behave is to respond in kind, using the same manner they have approached you with. It means they have taken an active interest in what you have written and wish to see more. Basically, you have a fan!

5. Don't take the actions or opinions of things done IN RP, to be directly relevant to the writers thoughts or opinions.
Basically, if some ones character calls your character a jackass, it doesn't mean the writer thinks you are a jackass. It's a ROLE they are PLAYING. Watch a movie. The argument between the characters isn't an argument between the actors involved. The same applies here.

6. It's not a popularity contest.
Your RP might be bustling with participants. You have 3 people off station in a fire fight, while another 2 are infiltrating the darkest areas of the station, meanwhile a group of 4 others are tracking your movements in an effort to stop you. Good for you, I'm sure it will be a thrilling read! But you know what? Sometimes the absolute BEST work, comes from two RP characters having a simple heart to heart. Both are valid, both are great, but NEITHER is categorically better than the other. Period.

Inara RP Etiquette:

1. Respect the setting and rules of the universe.
Inara is an Elite: Dangerous 3rd Party Tool. The RP Forums are set in the Elite: Dangerous universe. Elite: Dangerous has rules, as any fictional universe does from Lord of the Rings to Star Wars, or Game of Thrones to Star Trek. If you intend to RP within the Elite: Dangerous universe you are bound by the history and rules of that universe. Simply put, this RP forum is bound by the same rules as the game, so if it can't be done in the game, it is not permitted here. This applies to things from a 50Ly Jump Range on a normal, unmodified Sidewinder, to the destruction of entire stations.

2. Respect the characters created by others.
We have a wide variety of characters already here. It's expected that some will be similar, just as it's expected that two characters will be vastly different. Opinions of each persons character will naturally be varied, but all are valid provided they follow the rules of the universe. You are allowed to interact with, or avoid interaction with, any character in the RP forums. But you have no right to belittle others for their creation. You are not an authority figure on writing, nor are you directly affected by another persons imagination. You might not like it, but you MUST respect it.

3. Be caught up on current events before joining in.
You need basic things like character descriptions in order to interact with them. You also need to know what's going on in the surrounding areas. This is simply because the people you are hoping to RP with, might be gearing up to something that you might not want to be part of. Or simply that the most recent post, out of context, could leave a different impression on the goings on than if you gather that context. We don't expect you to read every single post from the beginning of the forums, just enough to get that basic understanding.

4. Either subscribe to, or frequently check, the Roleplay: Q&A and OOC forum.
People may be discussing something relevant to you there, or even discussing you directly. Perhaps someone asked what the general consensus on the existence or non-existence of a certain object. Or we're just chatting about random gibberish. Either way, be aware of it and use it. If you're unsure about something, such as how guns would look and or behave, or even the music selection, use the OOC forum to ask. We don't have all of the answers, but the collective knowledge and logic usually allows us to overcome an issue and come to a decision on what should be allowed. Frontier Developments, and even David Braben himself, don't have the answers to every possible question that can be asked.

5. Large Scale events exploding out of nowhere are a complete no go.
We get it. Everyone wants their character to be noticed and for people to be tripping over themselves to interact with them. In some audiences, an introduction involving you blasting in for landing in a fiery wreckage of a ship, before cart wheeling out and sword fighting 35 Ninjas before whisking off with the local celebrity for a glorious night of passion, is in fact, cool. This is not one of those audiences. It is generally considered better to build your character up slowly over time. Eventually, you might even have a legitimate excuse to fight those Ninjas. Maybe even with other RP participants by your side.

6. Perfect characters are boring.
The point of a character arc, is that it is in fact, an arc shape. One who is morally unquestionable, fully kitted out and an infinite fountain of knowledge, cannot go through an arc. Give your character flaws. Be it a tendency towards befriending the wrong people, or a bad knee that frequently gives out at inopportune moments. It gives readers something to latch onto and empathise with. You can give your character exceptional capabilities at something, but it requires balance. She's a damn good pilot with no equal, but can't drive an SRV for peanuts. It can lead to some very interesting moments between characters, be it heartfelt or comedic.

Other Notes:
It should be noted that there can be exceptions to these points. For example, good grammar when a character is speaking is actually rare. Few people in real life actually speak with perfect eloquence after all. Or previously arranged actions during a fight scene, such as someone stumbling back after a punch. What's key to remember is context.

All in all, remember this is purely for fun. We have some seriously talented writers here, and others whose writing history starts and ends at high school. But many are willing to help out in whatever way they can. All it takes is that you ask nicely.

Also keep in mind that many people who RP here, also have logbook stories related to the character, or characters, they portray. If it looks like there's an "in joke" going on that you're unsure of, it's probably in those.

In fact, some users have even gone to the trouble of creating "alts" to RP with. If you read back far enough, it's usually pretty clear who has and hasn't, and which ones are the "alts". It's therefore not unheard of to see the apparent seizing of control of other characters. If you do spot one, point it out in the OOC section. If intervention is needed, it will be sorted quickly and (hopefully) politely.

Most, if not all RP participants here have Logbook stories pertaining to their character(s). These are for the reading pleasure of anyone who wishes to do so. While it can be useful to read them in order to gain a bit of backstory on a character you wish to interact with, it should not be assumed that your character shares that knowledge. Within the E:D Universe, these Logbooks either don't exist, or are private diaries kept by the characters. Either way, without explicit statements to say otherwise from the writer, your interactions should reflect that your character is in the dark about any information you, the writer/reader, have gained from reading the stories.

"Okay, keep prodding them with a laser and... Oh, here you go you little bastard", I commented on Cyclops' explosion while explaining the details to Silvia, and another portion of Thargoid insides, discarded from the cracked carapace, decorated the void.

"Now the Basilisk, it will be a pain in the arse when we start running... So, our lovely couple should be on their way here already, and remember: don't contact that ship, no transmissions open or private, whatever moron brigade will be after them, should've no idea about us working together. For an observer, we're just two AX fighters giving hell to the green buggers, and they're doing their own stuff."

Boosting straightly to the Basilisk, leaving remaining Medusa and Cyclops with nothing, I opened fire and lit up a heart in an attacking run, before inertia forces dragged me out of its sights. Cannons and boosters went to recharge and I made a turn, targeting the beast and keeping my eye on... Pretty much everything, like distance to it, distance to Silvia, distance to and movement vectors of other Thargoids... Just like the old times.

"So essentially we're not to kill them, but to shove a middle finger into their daddy's face, diverting attention. Once our guys are here, we'll get out of this combat and go harrassing the fattest and meaniest Hydra close to the Maelstrom, and the real butchery begin... Oh, now how do you like that?"

Wounded Basilisk roared as a dense stream of greenish liquid gushed out of the breach, and its limb turned into dozens of little pieces. The Thargoid, shocked and angered, helplessly tried to catch me into its sights, but when it turned at me, I was already too far away. I glanced at my tech panel. Marshmallow was just a bit scratched, with a couple of impact marks here and there, one malfunctioning heatsink and a minor breach with a slight damage to non-essential modules.

"And as soon as the music starts to fade and distort, it will mean that they're in the cloud and we may retreat to safety. I doubt we should return to Inara though, those bandit carriers could be there right now."

And, another attack... I felt like I warmed up enough for the main part of the show.

It was a bumpy ride and there seemed to be a lot of shots hitting, but V.. Va.. What ever his name was must know what he was doing. He was a raider after all, and it was raiders they were escaping. There had been a coms exchanged, and Creamy imagined that was giving Vengerfields' people enough time to confirm that Creamy was indeed on board the ship. Now they were in Witch Space planning on using the Thargoids as a trap.

To most people, that would be a terrible idea that had no chance of working, but to Creamy, it sounded like a bit of a lark . . and a damn sight better then going to see Vengerfield himself.

"Ninette, Mrs Muri seemed to enjoy that first artist. Do we have anything else by him that would be fitting to the situation by chance?" asked Creamy.

Meowers had said she'd leave her channel open so when she could hear music, she'd know Creamy was here.

"Yes sir, and its a them, not him. I have a good number songs from this group. I suggest, Of Wolf and Man, given the events likely to transpire" informed Ninette.

Hearing the PA program use English wasn't very nice, but it was still Ninette and they were about to drop into the maelstrom, so Creamy needed to get playing.

"Well put it up for me, and lets give it a little strum shall we?"

By the time Knight of Goodness had dropped in by the star, the cymbal heavy dumbs had joined the angary guitar, and Creamy was in full head-banger mode eager to sing the first line. Ninette knew how to pick um.

The Basilisk that was violently bombarded by both of us had three of its limbs missing already and roared in anger, frenzily dashing left and right. Thanks to its top speed, it was quite easy to separate it from the rest of Interceptors... And even from those who tried to join the party as well, causing even more ripples to show up in the distance. But, no, not today.

Classic heavy metal music was a treat to my ears and soul, and even if sometimes I listened to something more modern, or even those fancy synthetic beats, or whatever else... Old-school metal will always remain a backbone of my music tastes, a genre that makes me feel alive when I need it the most.

"Here we go, Silvia. The Basilisk might be faster than you, but I'm faster than it, and it's going to chase me. So, full power to the drives, boost away, enter the in-system hyperspace and wait for my signal. Make sure to catch your breath, the real shit is about to breach the dam. Kick the previous system into your nav to retreat quickly, and I will follow your marker."

Hitting my boosters, I tracked the Basilisk on the target lock screen. The presence, and the mass lock factor of a Thargoid Interceptor, interfered with my drive charge, slowing it down dramatically, but, in the end, I got away from it far enough.

Time to start the scanner and find myself a big nasty Hydra...

'Hydra? You mean to tell me we are going to try and poke a rabid grizzly? Damn it! I don't like it but a buddy is always useful.'

I had never seen a hydra, but I had heard stories about them. More ferocious and dangerous than a Medusa. Stronger, faster and more terrifying. I was going to need a scan of this thing so I could analyze it later.

I watched as Ina dealt with the Cyclops with relative ease and followed her to the next target. I lit it up with beams doing my best to keep in a tight orbit trying to distract it so Ina could go to work. I kept and ear out on the comms waiting for the signal.

I kept the heat on as Ina ran run after run dropping shrapnel into the beast. Prodding it and posing it off in an attempt to draw out the baddest Thargoid in the system.

Then the moment we had been waiting for arrived. I knew it the moment I heard it. That's them finally! I looked back to Melli who was still unconscious. I was concerned but if all went to plan I'd be able to check on her in a short while.

'Right. Show time. Hang in there Melli just a little while longer.'

Instead of what Ina had said to do I had input the Coordinates for Kira's fleet carrier. I sent a brief message to her trying to keep things simple in case anyone intercepted the message.

Hey thanks for the support. 2 AX ships needing safe harbor. Will need resupply, medical prefferably of the veterenary kind, and a beer. Shit hit the fan and it's about to get worse. Expect us shortly.

Silv

I hit send and blinked into supercruise. I let out a sight of relief and input Cephei Sector ZZ-Y b3 and locked the system.

Scanning, scanning, scanning... Oh, there you are. Big, green, ugly and totally confident in own superiority, being that close to the nest. I guess you need some punching to get you back to the cold brutal reality...

"Hey, Silv, look... This might be a bit too much, and you should know I'm already totally grateful for your support. If you're concerned, or afraid, or whatever else, you may retreat now and I'm not going to think a single bad thing about you."

The signal I'm locked on to was just a few hundred light seconds from the Maelstrom itself. Recharging my maintenance module whilst I'm on my way, I checked the ammo and heatsinks. Should be enough to fight it effectively, but without spending anything on other possible targets.

"Here's my coordinates, dropping in, going hot."

Disengaging the FSD and dropping in a few kilometres away, I finally saw the unmistakable menacing profile of the largest Thargoid Interceptor, covered in shielding layers. The beast emitted a short bark, attracted by my hyperdrive flash, but at this moment, my weapons were already deployed, and the first barrage hit the carapace of the Hydra. Damn that arsehole is tough. Stabilising the sustainable trajectory of sorts, helping myself with boosters, I made a quick second follow-up attack, and only after unloading all my cannons once again, its first heart began to glow.

I thought... I should really grab that bastard by the throat. More of them is coming, and weakening it whilst it's still alone should be crucial.
12 Jun 2023, 2:57pm
'You aren't going in alone. This system is their hive. You attack their major ant the whole damn colony is going to swarm you. I'll do my best in there we only need to hold out a little longer our resupply should be ready any moment.'

I did my best to keep the comms clear of anything that would hint at our plan so using the FC provided a decent alternative. My wing drop activates and the sight I am presented with sends a chill down my spine. There it was. The largest and meanest Thargoid I had seen to this day. Ina begins the attack run and it lets out a God awful roar. Keeping an ear on the music I rush in and light the beast up doing my absolute best to piss it off.

I watch as the first heart explodes and it lets out an angered roar calling out to the colony. I keep the pressure on as best I can with the lasers occasionally offering aide with volleys of gauss rounds.

'Remeber Silv not here to kill it. We are here to piss it off and draw in the colony.'

The second heart gets exposed and Ina rushes in with a level of grace that just baffles me. With a few well placed shots and an assist from the gauss rounds the beasts second heart pops. Another deafening roar then the warning I was waiting for.

"WARNING! Multiple fameshift anomalies detected!"

I looked at the targeting panel and saw several unknown signal sources pop up. I look around the conflict zone but only see ripples nothing dropping in yet. Its like they are sitting there waiting for their own signal to attack. The hydra turns its sight on me and launches an attack. I look down at my heat levels and see I am sitting a bit too hot.

'Shit!'

I deploy a heat sync and try and get behind the beast to shield myself from its gaze. Ina fires more rounds striking it square in the front knocking off chunks of its carapace. I fire a volley into is back and another. It's probably the only chance I'll have to fire on it.

Jump to the system and head for the maelstrom. That's was the plan, so Vodan found the thing in the nav list, highlighted it, and got on the way. What ever Creamy was singing, it was pretty good, and Vodan found himself nodding along with the music.

While looking for the maelstrom, a Python and Vulture appeared on the scope. That would be the capture wing they just escaped from, Vodan was shocked that they actually followed.

"Damn it Cream, the master REALLY wants to know where your ex is. Fuck me!"

More ships came in behind them, the fleet was not going to give up on Creamy just because he had dropped into a Thargoid system. As soon as someone invented supercruise speed booster, Vodan would strap as many as he could to his ship. Running or chasing, a supercruis booster would really help.

Suddenly the ship started sliding sideways, it was an interdiction, but no ship on the contacts panel had got close enough. It had to be the Thargoids.

"Crreammmyy. What the fuck is do I do? I can't get away from this arse hole. Help!"
12 Jun 2023, 3:21pm
Ah, the goddamn cannon fodder is here. Thankfully, those two hearts are gone already and the beast had shown its first signs of weakening. Keeping my trajectory tight, I rained down another barrage, making the Hydra roar in fury, trying to get either me or Silvia. Looking at Silvia's moves, I tried my best to stay on the opposite side, in order to confuse the mighty beast.

That damn heatsink though. One that was malfunctioning. Apparently, the disposable heat absorber got stuck in a damaged ejection barrel, and, during that second when it melted through the metal barrel, my heat signature peaked and the Hydra reacted, sending a few shots at me. Impacts ringed and echoed in the cockpit, and I shouted to the comms before pulling off a risky move. That was still an option, whilst the reinforcements were too far away to actually threaten me.

"Ah, crap... Okay, don't try this at home."

Giving more power to my engines, I slipped into the lightning attack range, provoking the Hydra to zap me. A bit harmful for the modules, but... It stops firing when it does that, and being struck by that discharge is way less painful than absorbing its main cannon burst. With my engines almost disabled, I equalised the speed carefully and the Hydra was a sitting duck.

"In your face, you piece of shit!"

Deadly shrapnel from my first pair of cannons finally exerted the heart, and destroying it from almost point-blank range felt... Inspiring. Whatever they have for eyes, I hoped they saw me, my face and my wild grin as I pressed my triggers again and again, sending my hypervelocity hate to right where it hurts. Shocked Hydra roared in pain and ceased its attack, giving me some time to boost away and assess the damage.

Some nasty holes in the hull, but I've seen worse, and that oil leak in the atmosphere circulation fans wasn't critical, they were doubled anyway and even with my heat jumping, I've had an hour before switching to the emergency life support. Air pressure loss in some tech compartment... Just lock it off and it will be fine.

Their reinforcements looked more unsettling, my sensors were already covered in those pesky red markers and I knew that, at some point, I should go fully defensive. Still some time to make that huge bastard feel more pain though. Lining up for an attacking run and enjoying the music on the open channel, I notified Silvia of my status.

"Nothing serious, just a nasty scratch. Going in for the fourth."
12 Jun 2023, 3:40pm
I keep a close eye on the targeting panel seeing more and more red pop up. They were staging for an assault. I watched Ina charge head first into the hydra. She broke away and began another onslaught. With the beams locked on firmly I adjust trajectory slightly keeping Ina in a safe space away from the laser.

I fire a volley of gauss rounds, but see only a single violet tracer leave and impact the beast. I look at my modules and see my ammo is fine.

'Celeste status report on 2 gauss cannons.'

"Gauss cannons have failed. Rounds stuck in barrels seems the magrails failed and jammed them."

'Damn it! Ok. Ina heavy damage is going to have to be all you. I've got 2 jammed cannons. Rounds are fused to the barrel liners. I can keep the heat on with the beams but outside of that I've only got one cannon left.'

I circle around the hydra as the fourth heart explodes. I fire off my lasers and single cannon in an attempt to break the thing. It lets out a roar as it's shield fall.

'I think it's proper angry now. I just hope the others are not ready to join in now.'

Vodan
"Crreammmyy. What the fuck is do I do? I can't get away from this arse hole. Help!"

Damn it, this tune was a banger and Creamy didn't want to stop playing, but Thargoids were quite tough to avoid if you didn't know their tactics. Leaving the guitar floating by the mic, Creamy jumped to the door for the cockpit.

"Pass me control Ninette" said Creamy as he floated to his seat pulling him self down and strapping in.

Soon as he had control, he killed the speed and waited patiently to crash out of supercruise. To forestall his companions complaint, Creamy help up a finger.

"Tut tut, I'm concentrating old boy"

He looked for the target and for what had pulled them out of supercruise. Gently he moved the stick to get his facing right before he gave it some speed. For some reason, they were stationary. The ship wasn't responding the way it should, and Creamy was having a lot of trouble getting the ship out of the Thargoids firing line.

Bolts from the interceptor chewed up the shields and Creamy failed to get out of its line of fire no matter what he did.

"Bloody hell Ninette! Is there damage to the thrusters? She's handling like a dropped hammer" Called Creamy doing his best to get out the way, dropping a heat sink.

"No sir, flight assist has been engaged" informed the computer.

"Wha.." There was no time for reprimands, so Creamy just gave Vodan a dirty look when he flipped FA off.

Now the Knight was moving the way it should, Creamy expertly avoided the incoming shots as he got the ship on track and boosted away. They had lost a lot of escape time, and the interceptor had caught up; a second one was closing the gap too. Fortunately, everthing on this ship was upgraded as far as it could be, and the Knight was pretty close to the magic number when it came to escaping Thargoids.

As he was waiting to get out of masslock, ducking and weaving between the yellow bolts coming from the interceptors, more blips popped up on the scope. They were human ships. Unfortunately for them, they had dropped in very close to the interceptors Creamy was leaving behind.

"I say" said creamy to himself as much as his co-pilot. "I've got an idea"
12 Jun 2023, 4:16pm
"Got it Silv. Keep it calm and cool, avoid anything that moves, and drill the thing with your lasers. It's breaking already. At temps lower than 20 you're safe from anyone of them."

Of course we're getting surrounded. But those metal riffs were... Invigorating. And I perfectly knew that, even with dozens of them lurking around, keeping your temperature under control is the key. A few stray shots hitting the ship won't make any significant difference.

And I gladly noticed the beast weakening, it roared, spinned wildly, dashed from one side to another, showering me with hundreds of poorly-aimed shots, sending them too far away to make me actually worry. Fifth heart lit up after another barrage, and I dropped a heatsink, vanishing from the sights of the enraged Thargoid once again, to recharge my weapons and boosters.

What I didn't like to hear is the change in the music. The guitar stopped playing and the whole melody sounded flat and distant, and some unintelligible mumblings added to the background. No, it wasn't like the signal distortion... Carefully, trying not to break the disguise, pretending not to know whose Thargoid Slapping Party Boat it is, I spoke to the open channel.

Open: "Hey, rockstar, what's going on there? You were starting to get some fans!"

Boosting and keeping the glowing heart in the sights preemptively, equalising the rotation, I stared at the distance meter under the targeting reticle. 2.2...1.8...1.5. Fire. First pair of my cannons thundered, sending a wave of shrapnel into the exposed heart and damaging it, tearing off chunks and pieces, piercing holes through a shielding layer. Aggressively rotating and keeping the target in my sights, I discharged my second pair of cannons, paying little to no attention to a few stray projectiles hitting my hull. Screw those little shitty lackeys. Fifth Hydra's heart exploded, sending the beast into a spin whilst streams of greenish acid blood gushed from the open wound, and the Thargoid emitted a desperate roar full of pain.

"Damn it, Silvia. I hope they're okay there. We can't help them now since once we drop nearby, all that steaming pile of shit will attack them."

'Ok I'll keep the beams on.'

I throw all pips to weapons and shut off the AFMU for my guardian weapons. Now all I can do is fly support. Which is fine by me. No need to worry about boosting around.

I hear the music go dull and my heat drops a bit. Ina calls over opens in an attempt to check on them whilst remaining anonymous. Some muffled chatter can be heard by nothing decipherable.

Ina and I chip away at the beast causing it to exert its 6th heart. Not having anything other than beams and flak left I try to concentrate fire on the heart soaking it with heat. The heart erupts and the thing lets out another roar. This time those signal sources join the fray not all at once though. Only a few.

'OK Silv, keep it cool. Keep the heat on and piss them off. We have to give those guys cover. The only way to do that is to bring the swarm to us.'

Rounds pelt Ranger, her shields taking the brunt of the damage. Another swarm rushes me and I fire off the flak cannon and my first shot misses. I line up a second shot and fire. This time it's a direct hit and the swarm vanishes. I redirect my attention to the hydra and pop another heat sync.

'Come on you bastard. Call in the swarm.'

As Ina runs in dropping more shrapnel into the thing it lets out an even angrier and more desperate roar. This time everything in stand by drops in to aid their general. I count 8 targets on my scanner and an addition 4 in my line of sight. Several smaller scouts drop in and zip around the battlefield.

'Looks like we pissed it off. Those two better be ok and get there quick. We are entering the point of no return. The longer this drags on the more threats are gong to show up.'

At this point in trembling. I felt isolated alone and helpless. I couldn't leave though. Ina may have countless kills under her belt, but this swarm could easily catch her off guard. I pressed on and kept the beams lit. Several small ships pad into my line of sight then disappear. I drop another heat sync and try to avoid the mass of enemies that had appeared.

Vodan found them thanks to Meowers message, and logged their marker for Creamy. After dodging a couple more Goid interdictions, the Knight dropped in to Meowers combat zone.

"Oh, they've netted quite the menagerie. That's going to be a nasty surprise for your old friends" said Creamy popping a heat sink as the Goids turned to face the Knight.

"Put your helmet on that man" Creamy advised Vodan "Ninette, let's use Creeping Frost and fix up my friend.. Oh friends. Wonder who's with her?"

All the lights went out along with life-support as Ninette turned off everything that wasn't needed for a fight. Letting momentum carry the Knight on, Creamy used minimum thrust to weave between the interceptors, and launched a limpet at the Marshmallow, and then picked a path to the other ship. Creamy knew it was one of the alliance things, but they all looked the same to him. What ever it was, the limpet would patch up the hull a bit.

"Attention pilots, raiders incoming. I suggest you retreat to a safe system at once" Said Creamy wishing he could tell them thank you, but now was not the time.

With a tail of Thargoids following him, Creamy flipped the ship one-eighty and drifted backwards, skirting incoming fire while he waited for Vengerfields sniffer-dogs to catch up, and drop into a nest of vipers.
12 Jun 2023, 6:19pm
Evading their shots was becoming more and more difficult. 'Accuracy through volume', firing a shitload of shots somewhere at my direction, they made those open windows between bursts awfully small, and, from time to time, I heard some hits hammering against my hull. Right rear manoeuvring thruster let out a shower of sparks and stopped working at all, limiting my agility, and a couple of reserve coolant tanks were already activated to compensate the leak.

Lining up my shots, exerting the seventh heart, I got that goddamn frameshift anomaly message again... And more of them appeared soon, emerging from the ripples. And, in one of those silhouettes, I recognised the same huge, menacing monstrosity. The second Hydra.

"Ah, come on... Give me all you got you sorry pathetic bastards! Show me how many of you losers it takes for the two of us!"

Watching another reinforcement wave appearing made me think... No, it wasn't kind of fear, or concern. Quite the opposite. What should I be afraid of, if I'm doing what I supposed to do? What should I be concerned about, if I'm doing it well? No, it was... A compliment, of sorts. A statement, that I'm dangerous enough for them to send so many ships to take me down.

Seventh heart disappeared in a disgusting acidic cloud and the Hydra roared in desperation. And, just a few moments after that, I saw hyperspace flashes. And heard Creamy's transmission, along with a sound of repair drone attaching to the ship.

"Come on, Silvia, hit the boosters! I'll shake them off your six and follow you."

And, goddamn, hate to admit... I really wanted to gut that Hydra now. So... A little trick that I hope I'd be forgiven for. I turned 180 to move backwards, still following Silvia, and fired a few shots at the beast, making it focus its attention on me again, instead of chasing Creamy's Krait. We should drag it away for a couple of minutes, effectively disappearing from everybody's sensors, and... It's mine.

"Keep those boosters hot, Silv, a few more seconds and we'll be too far from the entry coordinates!"

'Engaging FSD. Time to get the hell out of here.'

I fire the beams once more then stow my weapons. I fire off a heat sync and disappear from the sights of the swarm. I aim for the jump point and refrain from calling over to creamy. As I turn to jump I get a message from Celeste.

"Incoming limpet drone."

'Thank you.' I say to myself as I watch the hull percentage increase.

My FSD engages and I disappear from the battle field. I drop into Cephei Sector ZZ-Y b3. I search for Yke Normandy (T9K-13T) Kira's Fleet Carrier. I locate it on the comms panel and drop into the airspace around it.

'Greetings Yke Normandy this is commander Silvia Sharpe, designation Sierra India Lima, Lakon Spaceways of the Ranger. I should have 1 additional AXDF Fer-De-Lance designation Marshmallow following close behind.'

I kill the thrusters and run back to check on Melli who was finally coming to and struggling to her feet. I pick her up gently and place her on the bed. I return to my seat and keep an eye on the contacts panel.

'Come on Ina where are you?'
