Elite roleplay: Off station

OFF STATION

Your ship, deep space, anything that is not happening inside the Citi Gateway or Ingaba...

General Roleplay Etiquette:

1. Control only the actions of your own character(s). (AKA: God Mode)
This doesn't matter how small the action is, even if it is as simple as scratching their nose or a direct reaction to something else that just happened. This applies to everything from casual conversation to full blown fight scenes. If you'd like someone to do something specific, PM that person, however keep in mind they are completely within their rights to say no. Especially if said action is inappropriate to their character and/or circumstance.

2. Don't brute force your way into another persons RP.
Approaching with a conversation starter is fine, or indeed some other small action. However charging in, guns blazing and disrupting the flow of another person/pair/groups conversation/arc is about as rude as doing so in real life. If something is going on that you'd like to participate in, be subtle about it. Put out a gentle hook for someone to take, but again, be aware that said hook may not be taken. If you fear it was simply unnoticed, PM the person or people it concerns. Or even leave a message in the OOC forums.

3. Good grammar and spelling is preferred.
We're not asking you to be perfect, but please at least demonstrate willingness. no1 iz gna tak u srsly usng txt spk. There's a wide variety of people here, many who speak English as a second, or even third language. There are even some with varying degrees of dyslexia and/or likely other issues that affect spelling/grammar. We accept them all here. However, people who aren't accepted, are those unwilling to accept polite correction. Remember that even a small thing like the placement of a comma, or the wrong use of there/their/they're can completely change the definition of an entire sentence.

4. Accept constructive criticism gracefully and politely.
If someone spots an issue with your writings, they may wish to help you improve that writing. They may do this through PM or even publicly air their thoughts on the OOC forum. If they have taken the time to be polite and explain what is wrong with your writing, the best way to behave is to respond in kind, using the same manner they have approached you with. It means they have taken an active interest in what you have written and wish to see more. Basically, you have a fan!

5. Don't take the actions or opinions of things done IN RP, to be directly relevant to the writers thoughts or opinions.
Basically, if some ones character calls your character a jackass, it doesn't mean the writer thinks you are a jackass. It's a ROLE they are PLAYING. Watch a movie. The argument between the characters isn't an argument between the actors involved. The same applies here.

6. It's not a popularity contest.
Your RP might be bustling with participants. You have 3 people off station in a fire fight, while another 2 are infiltrating the darkest areas of the station, meanwhile a group of 4 others are tracking your movements in an effort to stop you. Good for you, I'm sure it will be a thrilling read! But you know what? Sometimes the absolute BEST work, comes from two RP characters having a simple heart to heart. Both are valid, both are great, but NEITHER is categorically better than the other. Period.

Inara RP Etiquette:

1. Respect the setting and rules of the universe.
Inara is an Elite: Dangerous 3rd Party Tool. The RP Forums are set in the Elite: Dangerous universe. Elite: Dangerous has rules, as any fictional universe does from Lord of the Rings to Star Wars, or Game of Thrones to Star Trek. If you intend to RP within the Elite: Dangerous universe you are bound by the history and rules of that universe. Simply put, this RP forum is bound by the same rules as the game, so if it can't be done in the game, it is not permitted here. This applies to things from a 50Ly Jump Range on a normal, unmodified Sidewinder, to the destruction of entire stations.

2. Respect the characters created by others.
We have a wide variety of characters already here. It's expected that some will be similar, just as it's expected that two characters will be vastly different. Opinions of each persons character will naturally be varied, but all are valid provided they follow the rules of the universe. You are allowed to interact with, or avoid interaction with, any character in the RP forums. But you have no right to belittle others for their creation. You are not an authority figure on writing, nor are you directly affected by another persons imagination. You might not like it, but you MUST respect it.

3. Be caught up on current events before joining in.
You need basic things like character descriptions in order to interact with them. You also need to know what's going on in the surrounding areas. This is simply because the people you are hoping to RP with, might be gearing up to something that you might not want to be part of. Or simply that the most recent post, out of context, could leave a different impression on the goings on than if you gather that context. We don't expect you to read every single post from the beginning of the forums, just enough to get that basic understanding.

4. Either subscribe to, or frequently check, the Roleplay: Q&A and OOC forum.
People may be discussing something relevant to you there, or even discussing you directly. Perhaps someone asked what the general consensus on the existence or non-existence of a certain object. Or we're just chatting about random gibberish. Either way, be aware of it and use it. If you're unsure about something, such as how guns would look and or behave, or even the music selection, use the OOC forum to ask. We don't have all of the answers, but the collective knowledge and logic usually allows us to overcome an issue and come to a decision on what should be allowed. Frontier Developments, and even David Braben himself, don't have the answers to every possible question that can be asked.

5. Large Scale events exploding out of nowhere are a complete no go.
We get it. Everyone wants their character to be noticed and for people to be tripping over themselves to interact with them. In some audiences, an introduction involving you blasting in for landing in a fiery wreckage of a ship, before cart wheeling out and sword fighting 35 Ninjas before whisking off with the local celebrity for a glorious night of passion, is in fact, cool. This is not one of those audiences. It is generally considered better to build your character up slowly over time. Eventually, you might even have a legitimate excuse to fight those Ninjas. Maybe even with other RP participants by your side.

6. Perfect characters are boring.
The point of a character arc, is that it is in fact, an arc shape. One who is morally unquestionable, fully kitted out and an infinite fountain of knowledge, cannot go through an arc. Give your character flaws. Be it a tendency towards befriending the wrong people, or a bad knee that frequently gives out at inopportune moments. It gives readers something to latch onto and empathise with. You can give your character exceptional capabilities at something, but it requires balance. She's a damn good pilot with no equal, but can't drive an SRV for peanuts. It can lead to some very interesting moments between characters, be it heartfelt or comedic.

Other Notes:
It should be noted that there can be exceptions to these points. For example, good grammar when a character is speaking is actually rare. Few people in real life actually speak with perfect eloquence after all. Or previously arranged actions during a fight scene, such as someone stumbling back after a punch. What's key to remember is context.

All in all, remember this is purely for fun. We have some seriously talented writers here, and others whose writing history starts and ends at high school. But many are willing to help out in whatever way they can. All it takes is that you ask nicely.

Also keep in mind that many people who RP here, also have logbook stories related to the character, or characters, they portray. If it looks like there's an "in joke" going on that you're unsure of, it's probably in those.

In fact, some users have even gone to the trouble of creating "alts" to RP with. If you read back far enough, it's usually pretty clear who has and hasn't, and which ones are the "alts". It's therefore not unheard of to see the apparent seizing of control of other characters. If you do spot one, point it out in the OOC section. If intervention is needed, it will be sorted quickly and (hopefully) politely.

Most, if not all RP participants here have Logbook stories pertaining to their character(s). These are for the reading pleasure of anyone who wishes to do so. While it can be useful to read them in order to gain a bit of backstory on a character you wish to interact with, it should not be assumed that your character shares that knowledge. Within the E:D Universe, these Logbooks either don't exist, or are private diaries kept by the characters. Either way, without explicit statements to say otherwise from the writer, your interactions should reflect that your character is in the dark about any information you, the writer/reader, have gained from reading the stories.

'Come here little wench. I want to play with your corpse.'

Diaz's tone comes across as vile and unhinged. His entire operation had been derailed and destroyed by a group of mercenaries and some random ass pilots. He raises his plasma shotgun and aims it at Kasumi a disturbing smile on his face as he fires at the shock mine on Kira. The blast glances off the mine just enough to not detonate the charge.

He lunges at Kira throwing his shotgun at her as hard as he can. As he closes the gap he slashes at her with the electrified blade and unsheathes his tri blade dagger jabbing it forward with murderous intent. He plants his boot firmly on the ground and delivers a lighting quick round kick impacting with the force of a gorrila fist slam, as his blades glance off the osmium armor Kira is wearing.

He looks for a soft spot in the plating of her armor noticing a less than armored spot under both arms and a section around her waist allowing for mobility.

'Come now I hope you can love up to your words. You won't leave here alive if you don't kill me.'
04 Sep 2023, 10:35pm
“You think a kick and some knives are going to do the trick?”, I threw at Diaz, hardly phased, as the armor took most of the hit. “I’ve had to kill creatures ten times your size, in close quarters, and survived. You’ll have to try a lot harder than this.”

I used my own knife to deflect another stabbing attempt, aimed at the lower reaches of my waist where I wore no armor this time, and retaliated by firing at the hand holding the gnarly-looking dagger. Diaz’s shield flickered as three quick shots hit exactly where they were aimed, but only weakened it. Had to be stronger than the standard generator, but it was a start. He didn’t immediately engage again and instead moved in a rough circle with me, like two predators eyeing each other up.

“That outpost of yours was just the beginning. The last man that called me a wench is now dead, thinking he was dealing with a weak, pitiful woman. And you will soon be too. If I don’t kill you, you’re going to die with this ship. Every escape pod is disabled, and those Thargoids are going to tear you to pieces before you could even escape mass lock. All because you thought you hadn’t ruined Silvia’s life enough yet.”

He lunged forward, seemingly becoming more enraged by the second, but I expected the move and dodged it, plunging my knife into the already damaged shoulder. A mixture of electronics, fake flesh and hydraulic oil spilled out as I pulled it out in a downward motion, letting the teeth of the knife rip away. Then I fired at that same spot with my pistol, breaking through the shield with the first shot, causing minor additional damage. But he managed to dodge the second and third.

‘He’s rather agile for someone of that size’, I thought to myself.

“Yes, I’m talking about your blonde-haired friend down there. He’s rotting away in the hangars right now, just like your troops. You’re all alone, and you’re going to die alone.”

My final sentence had a cold, damning finality to it. I heard loud thuds behind me, expecting whoever of Diaz’s raiders remained - certainly not the one who’d lost their head to Meowers just before - to try running into me, but the bulky figure instead ignored me, in favor of tackling Diaz again. Something that I welcomed, as I could certainly use support against him. I went at it again, looking for any weakpoints I could find in Diaz’s armor, or to get a shot at the damaged sections of his body.

Aventus looks around for anything he can use to take Diaz out and a few meters away notices Kiras railgun.

'Good as anything I suppose' he thinks to himself. He rushes over to it and grabs the thing the mag locks releasing softly. It had more mass to it than he would have expected it to. It took some effort to manipulate it even in Zero-G but that easily more likely to having to fight with a damaged shoulder. He looks the weapon over the engineer who designed this weapon did an excellent job at making sure it was user friendly. Aventus pulls the trigger, the capacitors charge up the soft whine growing ever louder until finally it reaches a pinnacle.

'Everyone lookout!'

Aventus lines up his shot and in a moment finds a point where both James and Kira are out of the line of fire. He pulls the trigger and the round in the chamber is sent at hypersonic speed through the corridor and impacts Diaz square in the upper thigh. In a blink both his legs are separated from his body crippling him indefinitely. Diaz let's out a horrified and pain growl as the realization that his life is over sinks in. He looks over at Aventus and snarls.

'Fuck You! AVENTUS! I WILL HAUNT YOU AND YOUR KIN TO THE ENDS OF TIME!'

'Shut the fuck up Diaz! This is your end!'

Melli rushes around biting and clawing at everything still moving that isn't a friend. Her once brilliant armor now a solid coat of red. Gore and viscera cover every square inch of her body. Her screams and chatter could be classified as excited and victorious as she leaps onto Aventus' shoulder staring at Diaz and watching his demise unfold.
05 Sep 2023, 2:09am
The hypersonic boom of the projectile cut a clear line through the action, ripping both of Diaz’s legs off, and separated their contact from the floor too. I walked up to the man that was now just hips, arms and a torso, floating haplessly through the air as he looked for an object to grab on to.

“Shut up. You’ve lost.”

The statement contained both my total disrespect and lack of patience for this slaver, torturer and asshole, all three in one, as I attached the shock mine to his back and slammed him into a wall, then pulled him away slightly. In his blind rage, the gestures trying to reach for something completely missed my hand.

The mine’s trigger had been rendered inoperable, so I just fired a shot at it, and watched the electricity, capable of killing a person of my size outright, arc through his body, and what remained of his cybernetics. I’d removed my hand just before pulling the trigger, so none of it hit me. Then I took the battered man solidly, and presented him to the remaining heavy gunner.

“Hold this for me.”

I marched off after handing the - currently harmless, if occasionally twitching - Diaz to him, and picked up the heavy plasma gun. As I had left it, with enough shots left to really make things hurt. I took Diaz again and slammed him into the ground, keeping him pinned by the chest with my right foot.

“Now look at yourself. Who’s so strong and mighty now? It sure isn’t you, fuckhead.”

I paused for a long moment, everyone still alive gathering up to witness the demise of a most dangerous man, completely helpless to prevent his fate.

“Your ship is falling apart, your troops and fleet gone. All you’d have needed to do to prevent that was not take a deal with those nutjobs over at Azimuth, and leave Silvia alone. Instead, you’re going to die, and nobody will remember you for anything, except for a small group of commandos destroying your empire. All it took was a few seconds, and then, you’d signed your own demise.”

I removed my foot from Diaz’s chest and pushed the barrel into it. It was still somewhat hot, and quickly began to sear the clothes and flesh that remained.

“You feel that? That’s the pain you caused to people by kidnapping or killing the people that they cared about. And you’re going to pay for it. Right here, no later than now.”

Diaz still had hatred left in him when I removed the hot barrel, and instead let more of the weapon’s internal coolant spill out, scorching his chest and face. I paid care to leave enough for the weapon to fire reliably, and pointed it at his chest again.

“Remember the name. Kasumi Goto. Because it is the last name you, will, ever, hear.”

Four deliberate pauses were between the last four words, then I pulled the trigger, symbolizing me letting all my rage out. The superheated plasma rounds tore through the chest, ravaging organic and cybernetic components alike, causing as much pain as possible. Not bothering to control the recoil, I purposely let the gun kick up to Diaz’s face, where the result was as devastating as was to be expected. Then clicking. No ammo left, but I wasn’t done yet.

I flipped the weapon around, avoiding contact with the barrel, and slammed its stock down on what remained on Diaz’s head, hard enough to be felt through the deck, turning the ravaged body completely headless as a finishing touch. I handed it over to the gunner after that.

“Bring that back to your brother, and remember to tell him that it bears Diaz’s blood. A small consolation for not getting to kill him himself. And if he ever cleans that off, he can beat himself for it.”

I looked back at Diaz’s dead, mutilated, and scorched body.

“Have fun in hell with the rest of the pirate assholes that we killed.”

I turned back around to the group.

“I think it’s about time we get to Silvia and pull her out of this shithole. Preferably before it blows. And can I have my weapon back?”

My gaze fell on Aventus, who held my railgun, then on Melli, who might as well have fallen into a bucket of red paint.

“Oh, Silvia is going to murder someone for how you look.”

The gory show of Diaz's demise played in the corner of my scope, and I waited for a signal to join. Didn't receive it though, and that was... Somewhat, for the better, I think: the remaining group of four or five raiders holed up in a corner, refusing to show their faces and, finally, die. Surrounded by dead bodies, jagged debris, shrapnel, they were making what might've been looking like a last stand for them. For me... It was a pimple that refused to be popped out. If only I had a luxury of having a couple more mags to turn that metal chicken coop into mush along with the pumped up morons inside. Aventus' troops got them surrounded, but many switched to their sidearms already, some were totally shieldless or wounded, not to mention... There were too few of them.

"Okay, folks... My final order," I addressed to the commandos behind me. "Grab anything that shoots and give me a good cover. Don't try to be accurate, just dump the ammo at the shithole over there. I need only a few seconds."

"On my mark... Three, two, one... Fire!"

I dashed to the corner as fast as I could, covered by the massive barrage from behind: this couldn't last long and I knew it. Approaching the barricade with my rifle already pointed at it, I shouted:

"Ready or not, you shits, here I come!"

Nobody replied. No surprise though. Slowing down to walking, I fired a ten rounds long burst at the covers, from fifteen metres or so, to stir them up a little. Plasma rounds pierced the makeshift barricade, maybe even hitting someone behind it, but I wasn't going for the kill with it. Passing by the soldiers, I waved my hand, signalling them to follow me.

"After me. Let's end this."

One of the raiders raised his head to have a quick look... And he got more than just a look. It took two rounds to drain his shields, however, the sheer kinetic force was enough to throw the head back, breaking the spine, and send the agonising, convulsing body flying back to the wall. Third round landed at his stomach, ripping through the armour, and fourth followed up, exploding inside the body, shattering the spine and scattering his burnt, torn intestines around. A pirate next to him twitched, much likely shocked, and exposed their back long enough for me to take aim and shoot, and the soldiers behind me got the rest of the job done.

Reaching the barricades, I inhaled sharply and landed a heavy kick on the piece of sheet metal in front. The whole structure shaked violently, and a part of it moved backwards enough to expose two remaining pirates who hid behind... A death sentence. Executed instantly, in a blink of an eye, by me and the soldiers behind me. A few shots sent at us in return were no match to the rain of fire.

. . .

"Shit, that's gotta hurt," I looked at Aventus' shoulder. "And, well..." nodding to the soldiers gathered behind me, I added, "Those folks certainly earned a good pay rise."

It was... A relief to see. Still battered and bruised, in damaged, blood-stained armour, with empty magazine belts, those soldiers yet looked... A bit more lively. A bit more human. And less than selfless, soulless machines they were a few minutes ago.

I reached Kasumi and looked at her. And then at the disfigured, mutilated, disgusting techno-biological mess on the floor that was once named Marcus Diaz. And then at her again.

"That suits him better."
05 Sep 2023, 12:58pm
“He was decent enough to not get his blood on me.”, I jokingly remarked. “And for good measure …”

I fired a shot from my pistol between the dead body’s legs.

“I’m going to pay a visit to that idiot’s personal space once we have Silvia. Or on the way there, if we can reach it before then. If you’d like to join me …” A hinting glance went toward Aventus and Meowers. “Make sure he’s got no more clones laying around, or some kind of contingency protocol to throw them out if the carrier is destroyed. And I really don’t want to see multiple of him running around as Thargoid-hybridized things.”

I looked at the mutilated body for one final time, then took a long, relieved breath.

“I’ll also recover whatever Venus needs to prove that, well, this shitstorm wasn’t exactly her fault. If any of you need anything else from on there, let me know. Until then …”

I pulled up camera feeds from the bridge for everyone to see. Silvia held at gunpoint, obviously.

“Well, figures he wouldn’t make it easy on us.”

I used my wrist computer to locate and turn off any cameras around the room we were in, to avoid being listened to.

“I might have an idea for how we’ll handle that and the bridge crew. I’ll turn off the lights just before we get there, and send a certain something in.”

My gaze fell on Melli, and I coaxed the fox-hybrid over, going on a knee.

“Come here, little thing. You see Silvia? Those two people next to her need to die so they don’t shoot her. After I turn off the lights, go in there and do your thing.”

I stood back up.

“Any objections? We go in after Melli rips those bastards a new hole and light up anything that isn’t Silvia, or the murder fox. Plenty of raider weapons to go around if you need one.”
05 Sep 2023, 1:11pm
"Sounds like a plan," I nodded. "Yep. I'd like to have some evidence of Azimuth cooperating with slavers. Files, transmission records, whatever. Not that we don't have enough of it already... But every little bit should add to the shit pile nicely. And also, I'm going to answer some questions, like, why the hells I was seen with my gun still smoking, surrounded by dead bodies of those... Errrm... Humanoids. It's great to help your friends get out, but 'thwarting a sick Azimuth experiment' on top of that could be a nice line in my service record. Enough to justify my presence here, since I should've been back in our camp now."

I reached out for my cigarettes to find my pocket treacherously empty.

"Hey...", I turned to the soldiers, "Do you folks remember I told to leave me some smokes? Ah... Yeah. Thank you. That'll do fine too."

Of course, they didn't. Phah. But a few of them had some of their own tobacco sticks left.

“I think we should get going. Spent enough time in this place already.”

I moved up to Aventus.

“Do you mind?”

I took my railgun back, and began to walk toward the stairs leading further up, mindful to avoid contact with any of the vile gore floating around. It was almost as disgusting as Diaz himself - even before I’d turned his body into an unrecognizable pulp - and didn’t do great things to my mind.

“This shit’s gonna be giving nightmares for a few years.”, I caught one of the commandos muttering behind me.

“I wish I could say this is what I’m going to be seeing in my dreams.”, I replied back.

“What do you see in your dreams that could possibly be worse than this?”

“You don’t want to know. All I’ll say is that it’s way worse.”

I turned my gaze forward again.

“Keep an eye out for any more traps. Can’t count them out. I think Diaz has his quarters somewhere between here and the bridge, so we’ll stop there for a second when we reach it. And I’ll get everyone the data they want.”
05 Sep 2023, 4:02pm
I finished my cigarette and looked at the smouldering stub. An idea crossed my mind.

Diaz's remains silently floated in zero gravity: mutilated torso with cracked ribcage, abdominal area ripped open, pieces of exploded head still attached to the neck, all that surrounded by fragments of internal organs, bones, skin, personal armour. I came closer and looked at the red bloody rags that were his face once. Diaz's skull was completely shattered by the point-blank headshot, yet I managed to find a particularly large piece of eye socket, hanging on a skin, presumably his former left cheek.

I chuckled and put the cigarette butt in it.

"Hells. Why don't I have a camera with me when I need one?.." I turned to Kasumi. "Ah. Nevermind. Let's go. Lead the way."
05 Sep 2023, 5:30pm
“Already moving.”, I replied, only turning my head. “And you can take pictures on the way back. Maybe Diaz has a camera in his cabin.”

I highly doubted he did. While it was technically me leading, Melli was furiously sniffing the ground ahead, either on Silvia’s trail, or to discern any presence of more mines around. Luckily, it didn’t seem like Diaz had left any presents for us when he’d come down.

I branched off from the stairs when on the correct floor, keeping my pistol raised, just in case. But no more raiders showed their faces until I was stood on front of Diaz’s quarters. Door had an encrypted lock, but I was through it quickly, and avoided triggering the safeguards.

It opened up into a whole collection of trophies. Some were clearly animal heads, a few of which had to be exotic creatures from worlds other than Earth. Others looked more like they came from past human opponents Diaz had likely faced. At least one of these likely had some relation to Venus, but it was beyond me to know which one, if so.

‘Not adding my helmet to that collection, bastard’, I thought to myself, and turned to a terminal. The only one that I could see.

“Time to see what other dirty shit you’ve been hiding.”

Getting into it was quite easy. For my standards, anyway, getting far too invested in hacking into places I wasn’t meant to get access to from a young age, purely because I was curious. Bunch of folders about slave operations, stuff I didn’t care much for but could be useful to Meowers. I presumed she was behind me, but was too absorbed to actually check.

It didn’t take me long to find the damning evidence connecting it all to Azimuth. Then there was that folder containing the whole plan to set Venus up because Diaz got pissed about her refusing to take part in illegal slave operations, rigging devices to corrupt data from the helmet recorder, pretty much everything required to prove innocence.

“Jackpot. Venus is going to want to see that.”

It surprised me how little safeguards the terminal appeared to have. As if Diaz hadn’t expected anyone to ever reach this room. Well, he’d been proven wrong.

There was one other folder left, but it only seemed to contain a directory to execute a code prompt. After verifying that it was not going to delete everything on the terminal, I tapped on it twice to run it. That opened a hidden door in the walls.

“Well, what’s in there, I wonder?”

I moved away from the terminal.

“Grab whatever you need from that thing. Diaz didn’t seem to care about making it too safe, so you can just download it to a drive or something. I’ll go look at what’s in that other room.”

I followed through and stepped into the hidden chamber, fully expecting to find a bunch of tanks with clones inside.
05 Sep 2023, 8:44pm
"Hmmmm-mmhmmhmmm-mmhmm..."

I hummed an improvised random melody, copying Diaz's files on my suit computer data storage. Already saw something on Azimuth directly; however, I didn't want to be picky and simply set everything on download. I was going to have a chance to look into it later anyway: maybe there were files on other large companies, their dirty secrets to expose, or financial account passwords or whatever else.

"Yeah, found it. Thank you," I said to Kasumi loudly, hoping she'd hear it being in another room. "And what did you find there?"
05 Sep 2023, 9:09pm
As expected, the room, when it lit up upon entering, revealed clones of Diaz. Two, to be precise. It also appeared to serve as one treasure trove of weaponry. If I'd been capable of whistling, which I never was, for one reason or another, I certainly would have.

"Kept a little private stash, didn't we, Diaz?", I murmured, and looked around. Probably was going to leave all this here anyway, but it didn't hurt to take a look. Had there been a plasma rifle similar to Meowers', or the heavy gun I used to practically dismember Diaz from the inside, I might have considered dragging one along. If just to tear it apart and build my own, since I'd have felt dirty using something from this scumbag.

I had the idea of grabbing one of the kinetic weapons and putting a bullet into the head of both Diaz clones, but didn't yet, instead going to a terminal. More heavily encrypted, but still hardly a challenge for me to break into. I didn't much care about the data on its vital signs that it presented, instead looking to disable any contingency measures for the tanks, so that they wouldn't jettison if the reactor went into meltdown.

"And... done. Now you're gonna blow up with this ship, and you'll never have known it."

I heard Meowers call out to me, and answered.

"Just two clones of that bastard, and a bunch of weapons. Heads up, going to make some noise."

I grabbed one of the kinetic rifles and fired several shots into the heads of both clones. One would probably have sufficed, but I wanted to be doubly sure no more Diaz's would roam the world. Then, strange scratching drew my attention. Melli was clawing away at a wall of some kind.

"What's behind there, little thing?", I asked, walking closer, getting confused chittering as a response.

First, it revealed a set of armor that quite obviously belonged to a female wearer, likely Venus. Then, another tank appeared.

"Oh, fuck me ...", I said in a low voice, then raised it to be heard in the other room. "You're gonna want to come look at this shit."

In front of me was nothing other than, quite clearly, a clone of Venus. And I had no clue what to do about it.
05 Sep 2023, 9:33pm
"Oh. Impressive," I entered the room and took a look around. A massive collection of personal weapons has been a 'guilty pleasure' idea for me for a long time already, though, you need a home to start making one, and that was... A bit more problematic than buying a heckload of pew-pew sticks. "And what's this... Ow."

One ammo box amongst several others attracted my attention, specifically. "Federal Ordnance, M4014, Plasma Rounds, 11mm/18g". Surplus stuff, mediocre quality, but... You simply can't be picky when your ammo counter is orange, showing sixteen rounds left, and you're quite far away from your cosy fireplace rocking chair and tea. More correctly, on the wrecked carrier in a middle of godsdamned nowhere, and this carrier was full of angry people who just recently tried to shoot you. And may still have more. I took the ammo box and opened it. Yep. Usable.

"Found some ammo that I can use. Nice. And what's... wha... what the heck?" Clones of Diaz. Precisely decapitated. "Hm. So this is what he looked like before. Except the face of course."

I followed Kasumi and raised an eyebrow, looking at the female set of armour. Then, I saw the clone too.

"Ow. Hm. I guess we shouldn't shoot that one and put it into the waste processor. The crap Venus deals with now, those Diaz's schemes and whatever... This might be a good piece of evidence. Or even a scapegoat for her... More eccentric behaviour moments," I wanted to scratch the back of my head, but it was difficult to do having a helmet on it. "Maybe we should ask her personally. Or transport it to the ship to deal with it later."

“I have no clue what we should do with this thing, honestly. Doubt Venus will want to see it, though. I’d sure as hell find it weird to find a clone of myself that I didn’t make. Or just generally.”

I sighed.

“Shooting it in the head doesn’t feel right either, though. Bastard probably used this to live out whatever fucked-up fantasies lived in his head. I mean, why else would he have a clone of her?”

I looked over to the open entryway, but Aventus was not to be seen.

“Maybe we should ask someone who knows better… hey, Av… Av…” It refused to come off my tongue properly. “Whatever your name is again. Can you come over for a moment and tell us what the hell we’re gonna do about this?”

"Imperial names, phah," I chuckled quietly. "Luckily, he doesn't have a following line of titles we, khm... definitely shouldn't forget to name too. Or maybe he has. But we don't know."

Meanwhile, I've opened the ammo box and detached the magazine to fill it up. Fifty rounds... Still couldn't make it a full one, but thrice more than I've had left. Having an almost full last mag is certainly a more pleasant option than having it almost empty.
