Elite roleplay: Off station

OFF STATION

Your ship, deep space, anything that is not happening inside the Citi Gateway or Ingaba...

General Roleplay Etiquette:

1. Control only the actions of your own character(s). (AKA: God Mode)
This doesn't matter how small the action is, even if it is as simple as scratching their nose or a direct reaction to something else that just happened. This applies to everything from casual conversation to full blown fight scenes. If you'd like someone to do something specific, PM that person, however keep in mind they are completely within their rights to say no. Especially if said action is inappropriate to their character and/or circumstance.

2. Don't brute force your way into another persons RP.
Approaching with a conversation starter is fine, or indeed some other small action. However charging in, guns blazing and disrupting the flow of another person/pair/groups conversation/arc is about as rude as doing so in real life. If something is going on that you'd like to participate in, be subtle about it. Put out a gentle hook for someone to take, but again, be aware that said hook may not be taken. If you fear it was simply unnoticed, PM the person or people it concerns. Or even leave a message in the OOC forums.

3. Good grammar and spelling is preferred.
We're not asking you to be perfect, but please at least demonstrate willingness. no1 iz gna tak u srsly usng txt spk. There's a wide variety of people here, many who speak English as a second, or even third language. There are even some with varying degrees of dyslexia and/or likely other issues that affect spelling/grammar. We accept them all here. However, people who aren't accepted, are those unwilling to accept polite correction. Remember that even a small thing like the placement of a comma, or the wrong use of there/their/they're can completely change the definition of an entire sentence.

4. Accept constructive criticism gracefully and politely.
If someone spots an issue with your writings, they may wish to help you improve that writing. They may do this through PM or even publicly air their thoughts on the OOC forum. If they have taken the time to be polite and explain what is wrong with your writing, the best way to behave is to respond in kind, using the same manner they have approached you with. It means they have taken an active interest in what you have written and wish to see more. Basically, you have a fan!

5. Don't take the actions or opinions of things done IN RP, to be directly relevant to the writers thoughts or opinions.
Basically, if some ones character calls your character a jackass, it doesn't mean the writer thinks you are a jackass. It's a ROLE they are PLAYING. Watch a movie. The argument between the characters isn't an argument between the actors involved. The same applies here.

6. It's not a popularity contest.
Your RP might be bustling with participants. You have 3 people off station in a fire fight, while another 2 are infiltrating the darkest areas of the station, meanwhile a group of 4 others are tracking your movements in an effort to stop you. Good for you, I'm sure it will be a thrilling read! But you know what? Sometimes the absolute BEST work, comes from two RP characters having a simple heart to heart. Both are valid, both are great, but NEITHER is categorically better than the other. Period.

Inara RP Etiquette:

1. Respect the setting and rules of the universe.
Inara is an Elite: Dangerous 3rd Party Tool. The RP Forums are set in the Elite: Dangerous universe. Elite: Dangerous has rules, as any fictional universe does from Lord of the Rings to Star Wars, or Game of Thrones to Star Trek. If you intend to RP within the Elite: Dangerous universe you are bound by the history and rules of that universe. Simply put, this RP forum is bound by the same rules as the game, so if it can't be done in the game, it is not permitted here. This applies to things from a 50Ly Jump Range on a normal, unmodified Sidewinder, to the destruction of entire stations.

2. Respect the characters created by others.
We have a wide variety of characters already here. It's expected that some will be similar, just as it's expected that two characters will be vastly different. Opinions of each persons character will naturally be varied, but all are valid provided they follow the rules of the universe. You are allowed to interact with, or avoid interaction with, any character in the RP forums. But you have no right to belittle others for their creation. You are not an authority figure on writing, nor are you directly affected by another persons imagination. You might not like it, but you MUST respect it.

3. Be caught up on current events before joining in.
You need basic things like character descriptions in order to interact with them. You also need to know what's going on in the surrounding areas. This is simply because the people you are hoping to RP with, might be gearing up to something that you might not want to be part of. Or simply that the most recent post, out of context, could leave a different impression on the goings on than if you gather that context. We don't expect you to read every single post from the beginning of the forums, just enough to get that basic understanding.

4. Either subscribe to, or frequently check, the Roleplay: Q&A and OOC forum.
People may be discussing something relevant to you there, or even discussing you directly. Perhaps someone asked what the general consensus on the existence or non-existence of a certain object. Or we're just chatting about random gibberish. Either way, be aware of it and use it. If you're unsure about something, such as how guns would look and or behave, or even the music selection, use the OOC forum to ask. We don't have all of the answers, but the collective knowledge and logic usually allows us to overcome an issue and come to a decision on what should be allowed. Frontier Developments, and even David Braben himself, don't have the answers to every possible question that can be asked.

5. Large Scale events exploding out of nowhere are a complete no go.
We get it. Everyone wants their character to be noticed and for people to be tripping over themselves to interact with them. In some audiences, an introduction involving you blasting in for landing in a fiery wreckage of a ship, before cart wheeling out and sword fighting 35 Ninjas before whisking off with the local celebrity for a glorious night of passion, is in fact, cool. This is not one of those audiences. It is generally considered better to build your character up slowly over time. Eventually, you might even have a legitimate excuse to fight those Ninjas. Maybe even with other RP participants by your side.

6. Perfect characters are boring.
The point of a character arc, is that it is in fact, an arc shape. One who is morally unquestionable, fully kitted out and an infinite fountain of knowledge, cannot go through an arc. Give your character flaws. Be it a tendency towards befriending the wrong people, or a bad knee that frequently gives out at inopportune moments. It gives readers something to latch onto and empathise with. You can give your character exceptional capabilities at something, but it requires balance. She's a damn good pilot with no equal, but can't drive an SRV for peanuts. It can lead to some very interesting moments between characters, be it heartfelt or comedic.

Other Notes:
It should be noted that there can be exceptions to these points. For example, good grammar when a character is speaking is actually rare. Few people in real life actually speak with perfect eloquence after all. Or previously arranged actions during a fight scene, such as someone stumbling back after a punch. What's key to remember is context.

All in all, remember this is purely for fun. We have some seriously talented writers here, and others whose writing history starts and ends at high school. But many are willing to help out in whatever way they can. All it takes is that you ask nicely.

Also keep in mind that many people who RP here, also have logbook stories related to the character, or characters, they portray. If it looks like there's an "in joke" going on that you're unsure of, it's probably in those.

In fact, some users have even gone to the trouble of creating "alts" to RP with. If you read back far enough, it's usually pretty clear who has and hasn't, and which ones are the "alts". It's therefore not unheard of to see the apparent seizing of control of other characters. If you do spot one, point it out in the OOC section. If intervention is needed, it will be sorted quickly and (hopefully) politely.

Most, if not all RP participants here have Logbook stories pertaining to their character(s). These are for the reading pleasure of anyone who wishes to do so. While it can be useful to read them in order to gain a bit of backstory on a character you wish to interact with, it should not be assumed that your character shares that knowledge. Within the E:D Universe, these Logbooks either don't exist, or are private diaries kept by the characters. Either way, without explicit statements to say otherwise from the writer, your interactions should reflect that your character is in the dark about any information you, the writer/reader, have gained from reading the stories.

The Morse code was an archaic communications method and it took both myself and Venus a couple of seconds to realize what was being done. I wasn't familiar with Morse code and Venus was rusty. June however that little well of knowledge came is handy.

"Oh I do love a challenge. Ok give me a second to collect the data."

"OK ready. Pilot says Don't worry. Will try to stop your ship."

"Hmm. Interesting there appears to be a second ship following close behind. I would prepare yourselves be slowed down. This might get a bit rough."

The moment the unknown commander made contact there was a slight jolt as our velocity was abruptly reduced. There was a slight pause then the bright glow of the kraits thrusters firing off to slow both ships to a halt. I knew not who this person was but I would have to buy them a beer the next time we are in more civilized space. Though I would be reluctant to tell whoever this was that it would be some time before we made it back.

Venus being much more synical than myself walked over to the cockpit armory and grabs my rifle from the rack and dons some armor.

'Out here thieves and pirates can operate without fear. Don't be too ready to accept help.'

'What choice do we have? We are defenceless out here.'

'If they are pirates then we kill em and use their ship for parts. It's a krait, so parts are compatible. Look all I'm saying is better to be prepared than to be vulnerable.'

"I must agree with Venus here Silvia. Be prepared for anything. Jules always warned me that deep space was the most dangerous place to meet anyone. Even in the event of an emergency, such as this one. We are prime candidates for piracy."

I pause and look out at the krait that had slowed our ship to a halt. Melli hops up onto the console and stares out at the pilot. She tilts her head and one of her ears flops down. She turns to look at Venus and myself. I let out a long sigh and walk over to the armory and Don my own set of armor a long gash across the back. Venus puts on her helmet claw marks streaking across the face, the visor replaced with a violet iridescent screen. I place Mellis armor on and we prep the cockpit for a potential raid.

When we slowed down to stop, I turn on Flight Assist and edited my position for cockpit-to-cockpit view, as close as possible. Now, I switched communication method, from primitive to even more (probably) primitive-pen and big sheet of paper found somewhere in storage. When I found it, I didnt believe my eyes. So I wrote on the part of that sheet: Rescue is here. I am Adam Štefánik, Anaconda belongs to Hull Seals. Can we help? We have repair limpets, spare parts but mainly no guns. As I wrote last word, I opened comms to Hull Seal: "Let's hope for best. It could work. Prepare repair limpets please" In seconds, there was response from Anaconda: "Wilco, limpets ready, spare parts on steady."
09 Oct 2023, 7:06pm
'Adam? What the hell is he doing out here? I mean I suppose with carriers anyone can go anywhere the want to now.'

Space is much smaller with those things around. Distant worlds aren't so distant anymore. When they released the megaships for private ownership starsystens in the bubble became crowded. Pirates were now capable of going anywhere, so they did. But even then the likelihood of a friend being out here was so small that when I recognized the name I was confused.

'June can you patch yourself into that ships communications system?'

"For that I will need a direct link to the ship, of which we do not currently have. Please switch on our communications I will work on synthesizing some materials for lifesupport systems."

Venus heads out of the cockpit and back down to the engineering bay. She waits for June to let her know when to make the switch. With 10 minutes of life support we should be able to get just to make contact. June calls over the internal comms to Venus once synthesization is completed.

"Make the switch now Venus."

With the press of a few buttons Venus transfers all remaining power to communications.

"Commander Štefánik this is Longshot. We are limited to one main system powered on at a time. Emergency repairs are required. We have no thrusters, no FSD, and our AFMU is destroyed. Please advise your companion to immediately deploy limpet drones."

June's unfamiliar synthetic voice rings over Adam's communications system.

"Venus please switch power back to life support systems."
09 Oct 2023, 8:01pm
OOC: It might be strange, but actualy I never used ANY type of limpets. So my describtion can be little off

While I was waiting for reply in some form, I didn't excepted this-voice comm. Looking like by AI since synthetic voice, but still unexcepted. I truned voice comm to Hull Seal: "Fire limpets now!" He responded: "I have run integrity scan of damaged Phantom and it looks like their thrusters and FSD are gone probably for good, that AFMU could be repairable, but I will try to solve power plant at first" When he finished last word, I added: "Good idea, they are running on some kind of emergency power." He replied: "Roger, firing multiple limpets. Let's wait for outcome."

After while it looked like something which has to do with electric circuits was repaired-lights on Phantom called Longshot came to life. I tried if their comms are working: "Longshot, do you copy me? I think better would be to perform EVA and board my ship as my companion is not sure about flight-worthiness of Longshot. Any ideas or opinions?" I asked and waited for response

'Limpet drone attached. Repair process initiated.'

Verity the onboard COVAS announces the procedure as soon as the powerplant is repaired enough for systems to come back online. Melli leaps off the console and across the cockpit as Adam's voice breaks the silence at an uncomfortable volume.

"Oh sorry let me correct the output volume. I had it amplified during the initial contact."

June lowers the comms volume and opens a secure line to Adam's ship. I walk over to the comms panel and press the talk button.

'Adam? What in the blazes are ye doing out here? You know what don't answer that.'

I pause a moment taking a deep breath.

'We are not ready to return to the bubble. If you can just get our thrusters, FSD, and hull marginally operational we can go planet side and gather the resources we need to synthesize parts. Our AFMU can assist us with repairing modules.'

Venus approaches the comms panel and presses the button.

'No offense to you. We just don't plan on coming home yet. There is much we plan to see and explore. While your assistance is appreciated we would rather keep our ship.'

'We have rebuilt this ship more times than the pilots federation would deem acceptable. Things are set up exactly as we like them and having to modify a new ship is a hassle.'
10 Oct 2023, 5:28am
Finaly, there was human voice from damaged Phantom. I known that they probably need separation from humankind but I didnt want to let them here without help either. So I said to comms: "I am glad to hear you. My presence is mainly coincidence-I am here from Fleet Carrier belogning to PTN which is hosting Discovery Extravaganza event-we are going around whole galaxy, visiting most famous spots. Carrier have problems with FSD so we are kinda stuck here until maintenance crews will repair it."

I paused, to take breath. "So I decided to explore this system since I am there first time. When I was landed on planet, I caught some distress beacon. I have called for help, and this buddy arrived" As I have said it, I slightly rotated my Phantom to Anaconda and continued: "Other do you already know. So back to presence. With your refuse to return to the bubble I am ok, but with that planet landing I am not 100% sure."

I finished and switched to private channel to Anaconda: "Do you think that ship is repairable here enough to withstand planet landing?" Reply was: "Since what I see, I am not sure if they can traverse 0,16 ly and land on planet. Try to offer them repair at your carrier. Repair is there installed, right?" I answered: "Yes, it is and it will put on ship much less stress. So I am going to offer them this option."

I switched back to open channel and I have said: My companion, to be precise Hull Seal, thinks that you can traverse that distance to planet, but safer would be dock on Fleet Carrier which brought me here, they have installed RRR facilities. It will put on your ship much less stress than planetside landing." I finished and waited for reply

'You underestimate the capabilities of a Krait. But if it will put your mind at ease then we can use your facilities. Though only for long enough to repair the main damage.'

Venus turns to look at me and shakes her head.

'I swear if they decide to jump that carrier with us onboard I'll have the captains head.'

Turning back to the Krait out in front of us Venus presses the talk button once more, this time using the open comms.

'Repair us enough to get to a carrier. But don't be getting any crazy ideas.'
10 Oct 2023, 6:33pm
"Before my take off from carrier, next jump was scheduled for next week. And that's without FSD malfunction. And again it is not my carrier. My carrier was blown up with my living family by that scumbag Diaz years ago. Ok, let's finish this repair" I have said.

30 minutes later

"Ship repaired to flight worthy state, I am going back on my carrier. Fly safe, Commanders." Transmission from Hull Seal was quite short after this adventure. I said to him, now in open comms: "Thank you buddy, contact me when you will land. Without you, this rescue would be probably fiasco-I don't have any repair equipment. Even AFMU. Again, big thank you from my side. If you will have time after duty, you are invited for beer which will be on me. You all. On Fleet Carrier Discovery."

I paused to take breath and continued: "Silvia, let's get moving. I have unfunctional long range comms, because I was forced to reroute electricity to sensors. So I didn't give any report of situation. And this electrical thinga is repairable only in dock."
11 Oct 2023, 8:50pm
After spending a few minutes validating the ships systems integrity I target the carrier Adam had mentioned. The tension in the air is thick enough to cut with a knife while the FSD begins charging. Just before it engages and we are supposed to jump to supercruise the FSD malfunctions.

'Well shit. Adam go on ahead. Our FSD is malfunctioning. We will inform once we manage to make it.'

I call over to Adam in his Krait before attempting to jump to supercruise once more. There is a brief pause as we wait for the FSD to engage.

"WARNING! FSD malfunctioning. FSD operating beyond safety limits. 5...4...3...2...1...Engage!"

Before taking off from Duamta 4 following my latest Thargoid adventure, I decided to write a short message to Meowers, in case she was interested in meeting up, now that I'd be available for a night.

Hey,

It's me... Kasumi, you know. I doubt you forgot after that insanity on the Queen Anne's Revenge, anyway. Mind meeting up on the Gateway in Inara? I just had some... questionable fun poking around a Thargoid place. And I need to pull my brain out of that, because hell, it is a goddamn mess.

I also really want to use some stronger words to describe it. And by stronger I mean the kind that generally aren't socially acceptable.

Anyway, interested?

I hit send and began to power up the thrusters. Might only have been about a month and a half, but I kind of missed the place. When it wasn't devolving into a standoff with someone half out of their mind pointing guns at everyone while looking for a person that wasn't even there, at least.
18 Oct 2023, 9:36pm
The higher your rank gets, the more boring your ordinary days become. Can't say the same for shit-hits-the-fan scenario of course... But it wasn't happening right now. So, being an active Flight Leader for a few months already, I was thinking about... This being my last promotion, like, thanks, no, but I refuse to fly a desk even if this desk has an operations map on it. I'm not that old yet. Being an officer of a highest 'field' rank that was supposed to fly (and kick arse) regularly suits me better. And, uh, I don't want my superior to die in order to take his place, as it happened earlier. With our detachment still positioned in a refugee camp that was slowly turning into a town itself, we were becoming somewhat like a local training centre.

So, another day of sending our patrols, like, 100ly away to respond to any distress signals and show those rookies some real moves without dragging them into a middle of a shitstorm. Which weren't that frequent these days after all... And I was floating almost motionlessly looking at two resistance wings picking apart a bunch of Cyclopes that thought a mining ship convoy was a meal. Not on my shift.

And a message appeared on my screen.

"Hi.

A day off in a crazy bar where you could get killed or worse? Count me in. Going to end my shift in a few hours, arrange a leave for a couple of days and head straight there. Heard about those new... Constructions of theirs and I guess you've been there already. And, you know me, anything that isn't quite socially acceptable is where the fun part begins.

I hit the send and looked at the time. Yeah, three more hours and we're off to let another pack of trainees remember what this button on the flight stick was meant for.

"What do you mean, she's no longer here?"

Alba sounded frustrated, and exasperated, when posing that question.

"I'm afraid so, professor.", the therapist replied. "Kira didn't report in for her routine therapy session today, and usually, she isn't late for them, especially not this much. But the security guard I asked to look into her whereabouts didn't find her in her private quarters, nor anywhere else within the facility grounds."

"Surely the security cameras must have seen her?" Alba's response was more a statement of disbelief than a question. "Even if she somehow managed to leave through the primary checkpoint without registering an ID, one of the cameras has to have recorded her leaving."

"I'm afraid not. And from what little she has allowed herself to share with me, she has extensive knowledge of manipulating security systems, making it likely that the cameras were set to display a relatively static picture without her in it, whenever she passed one. That is likely how she bypassed the primary checkpoint without ID registration as well."

“Did you find anything of use in her quarters? A message, maybe?”

The therapist shook her head. “No. But she has left behind some of her personal items, so it seems she is planning to return at some point.”

Alba shook her head, and looked at Seo, who was in the office as well, albeit for entirely different reasons.

“I had nothing to do with this.”, Seo said, sensing the question that was about to be asked. “She didn’t tell me she wanted to leave again, and I can’t sense her through our link. Wherever she is, she doesn’t want to be found.”

Alba sighed. “Kira should know better than this, after what you and her went through. Travelling alone and unmonitored is not safe for her. Especially when we don’t know how much the Thargoids might be influencing her mind.”

“I know. But we both know she has a mind of her own, and she has to have left for a good reason. There isn’t much I can do about it. She hasn’t responded to a message I sent her today either.”

Another sigh escaped Alba. “This had better not be connected to the Titan survivors. Our scans have not shown anything on them, but if there’s something the Thargoids know that we don’t …”

“Are you going to look for her?”, Seo asked, diverting the subject slightly.

“Of course. Kira should not be out there without us knowing where, if she needs help. But not an official search. That would draw too much attention from Azimuth. And if something is wrong with the survivors, she’ll be one of the first to know about it.”

————

Meanwhile, in an uninhabited system, 45 light years from Duamta

I looked at the message again. ‘Signals in Shamash’, sent somewhere around 16:30, Earth time. A strange attack on an otherwise completely unremarkable outpost, with no apparent motives, and no Thargoids. I had no way of knowing if this was connected to the Titan survivors, or if this was something else, and yet …

I sighed. “EDI, record message.”

An audio cue let me know that the recording had started. I took a deep breath before I began talking.

“Hello, Alba.”

I paused for a few seconds, sighing again. Doing what I had still felt a little wrong toward the people at Aegis.

“I’m sorry for just leaving like that, without informing you. I didn’t do it because I felt I was being treated wrong, or badly - I really do appreciate what you and the people at Aegis have been doing for me, and allowing me to have a safe shelter, even with the security risk that having me around poses.”

I paused again.

“There’s something going on out there that is important to me, personally. And I need to look into it, in person. There’s… no other way. If I can, I’ll come back when I’m done. If I don’t return, I just wanted to say… thank you. For everything.”

I hit a button on the - physical - control panel to the right of the pilot’s seat to end the recording, unable to continue. My eyes were already beginning to feel wet, a lack of sleep not helping with it.

“Send the message via standard comm channels, low priority. I want it to reach them in a few hours. Until I’m done with this… I don’t need anyone getting in the way.”

I waited until the transmission was complete, then plugged in a course to Shamash. Whatever was going on there, it felt far too coincidental and close in time to the ongoing study of the abducted from the Titans to be a coincidence. The fact that it was a random outpost nobody seemed to care about only reinforced that feeling. And… it was as if it encouraged the desire to look into this mystery, too.

“Alright, time to see what this is all about …”, I murmured, and hit the jump button. Only two jumps, and I’d know.

Using the heel of her hand, Lambast pushed the frost off the holo-projector clearing up the image somewhat. Three red triangles drifted around the scopes centre point.

“As soon as you twitch that stick we’ll find you” threatened Greywing coming in quiet and flat on the coms.

Uncurling her fingers from a fist, Lambast tightened the communications array's transmission arc, pointing it at the carrier ahead. Even having her fingers out for that half minute numbed them to the knuckles thanks to how cold the smuggling Anaconda was running right now.

The canopy was already thick with beautiful leafs of frost that Lambast appreciated while she made contact with her destination's flight control. Pushing her fingers under her arm pits, Lamb waited for the computer's communications acknowledgment.

Her chattering teeth almost drowned out the low connection established beep. She closed her anti-mist faceplate that misted up immediately, and watched as that mist start to freeze. In her darkening, opaque world, Lambast calmly explained her situation to whoever was listening, hopefully not including the pirates.

“Emerald Dawn, this is CHL-68, forty-five light seconds at normal approach speed outside drop range”
Her teeth were still chattering, and her nose felt like a cold hole full of pain on her face, but she was mostly worried that Emerald Dawn would think she was scared. In truth, she was annoyed.

ERS had made a generous offer for Imperial Slaves that had attracted a few honest people. Unfortunately, the offer had also attracted dishonest people that didn’t like to pay for stock they were going to sell, even if that stock was made up of, people. It was only a twelve jump journey in this smuggling Anaconda, but the last five jumps had been thick with raiders looking for free cargo.

On the last few minutes of flight, Lamb had used the last of her synthesised heat sinks, so now her shieldless ship was in danger of being interdicted and ran-sacked. It was her own fault for underestimating how much resistance she was going to encounter.

“One pirate, Greywing, flying a Python called Carbide.” Continued Lambast, failing to stop her teeth from beating a rapid tattoo “.. and two other unidentified ships are looking for me. Could I trouble you for an escort back to the nest? Thank you”

Emerald Dawn shouldn’t be able to find her ship, Cool Hand Lamb, but it should easily detect three raiders this close to them, and get an escort out to her within a few minutes.. .. Hopefully.
10 Feb 2024, 6:58pm
The initial response from flight control was immediate but short. “Copy, CHL-68. Standby. Over.” The line remained open, but flight control muted their end.

The flight controller that received the transmission initiated a transceiver scan, searching for the CHL-68. Not finding it, he called over the supervisor. “Laura, we have a distress call reporting pirate attack 45ls out from us, but the ship must have gone dark. There is no transceiver response. Nav beacon response shows CHL-68, a cargo vessel with Imperial registry, entering the system a short while ago. Three assailants. Description of one attacker matches the alias of a known criminal, detected at about 40-50ls out..”

The flight supervisor, sitting on an elevated platform, looked up from her console array. The glow from her holographic consoles and those of the eight flight controllers lit the dark room with the same ethereal glow of bioluminescent fish in the deep ocean. “When it rains it pours,” she said. As if an increase in Thargoid interdictions was not bad enough, there had been three raider attacks in the past 48 hours. “Try to get a better fix on the location and alert the nearest patrol. I’ll inform Captain Whitney.”

After nearly a minute of silence, flight control replied. “CHL-68, Emerald Dawn Flight Control. Patrol interceptors have been dispatched to your general location. ETA 62 seconds. Transferring to patrol feed one, channel locked.”

Two Imperial eagles raced to intercept the raiders. Within seconds, their chatter was being relayed through the communications link with the Emerald Dawn.

“Cool Hand Lamb, Jade 1. Don’t believe everything you hear. 30 second ETA. Try to remain dark until we arrive.”
