Elite roleplay: Off station

OFF STATION

Your ship, deep space, anything that is not happening inside the Citi Gateway or Ingaba...

General Roleplay Etiquette:

1. Control only the actions of your own character(s). (AKA: God Mode)
This doesn't matter how small the action is, even if it is as simple as scratching their nose or a direct reaction to something else that just happened. This applies to everything from casual conversation to full blown fight scenes. If you'd like someone to do something specific, PM that person, however keep in mind they are completely within their rights to say no. Especially if said action is inappropriate to their character and/or circumstance.

2. Don't brute force your way into another persons RP.
Approaching with a conversation starter is fine, or indeed some other small action. However charging in, guns blazing and disrupting the flow of another person/pair/groups conversation/arc is about as rude as doing so in real life. If something is going on that you'd like to participate in, be subtle about it. Put out a gentle hook for someone to take, but again, be aware that said hook may not be taken. If you fear it was simply unnoticed, PM the person or people it concerns. Or even leave a message in the OOC forums.

3. Good grammar and spelling is preferred.
We're not asking you to be perfect, but please at least demonstrate willingness. no1 iz gna tak u srsly usng txt spk. There's a wide variety of people here, many who speak English as a second, or even third language. There are even some with varying degrees of dyslexia and/or likely other issues that affect spelling/grammar. We accept them all here. However, people who aren't accepted, are those unwilling to accept polite correction. Remember that even a small thing like the placement of a comma, or the wrong use of there/their/they're can completely change the definition of an entire sentence.

4. Accept constructive criticism gracefully and politely.
If someone spots an issue with your writings, they may wish to help you improve that writing. They may do this through PM or even publicly air their thoughts on the OOC forum. If they have taken the time to be polite and explain what is wrong with your writing, the best way to behave is to respond in kind, using the same manner they have approached you with. It means they have taken an active interest in what you have written and wish to see more. Basically, you have a fan!

5. Don't take the actions or opinions of things done IN RP, to be directly relevant to the writers thoughts or opinions.
Basically, if some ones character calls your character a jackass, it doesn't mean the writer thinks you are a jackass. It's a ROLE they are PLAYING. Watch a movie. The argument between the characters isn't an argument between the actors involved. The same applies here.

6. It's not a popularity contest.
Your RP might be bustling with participants. You have 3 people off station in a fire fight, while another 2 are infiltrating the darkest areas of the station, meanwhile a group of 4 others are tracking your movements in an effort to stop you. Good for you, I'm sure it will be a thrilling read! But you know what? Sometimes the absolute BEST work, comes from two RP characters having a simple heart to heart. Both are valid, both are great, but NEITHER is categorically better than the other. Period.

Inara RP Etiquette:

1. Respect the setting and rules of the universe.
Inara is an Elite: Dangerous 3rd Party Tool. The RP Forums are set in the Elite: Dangerous universe. Elite: Dangerous has rules, as any fictional universe does from Lord of the Rings to Star Wars, or Game of Thrones to Star Trek. If you intend to RP within the Elite: Dangerous universe you are bound by the history and rules of that universe. Simply put, this RP forum is bound by the same rules as the game, so if it can't be done in the game, it is not permitted here. This applies to things from a 50Ly Jump Range on a normal, unmodified Sidewinder, to the destruction of entire stations.

2. Respect the characters created by others.
We have a wide variety of characters already here. It's expected that some will be similar, just as it's expected that two characters will be vastly different. Opinions of each persons character will naturally be varied, but all are valid provided they follow the rules of the universe. You are allowed to interact with, or avoid interaction with, any character in the RP forums. But you have no right to belittle others for their creation. You are not an authority figure on writing, nor are you directly affected by another persons imagination. You might not like it, but you MUST respect it.

3. Be caught up on current events before joining in.
You need basic things like character descriptions in order to interact with them. You also need to know what's going on in the surrounding areas. This is simply because the people you are hoping to RP with, might be gearing up to something that you might not want to be part of. Or simply that the most recent post, out of context, could leave a different impression on the goings on than if you gather that context. We don't expect you to read every single post from the beginning of the forums, just enough to get that basic understanding.

4. Either subscribe to, or frequently check, the Roleplay: Q&A and OOC forum.
People may be discussing something relevant to you there, or even discussing you directly. Perhaps someone asked what the general consensus on the existence or non-existence of a certain object. Or we're just chatting about random gibberish. Either way, be aware of it and use it. If you're unsure about something, such as how guns would look and or behave, or even the music selection, use the OOC forum to ask. We don't have all of the answers, but the collective knowledge and logic usually allows us to overcome an issue and come to a decision on what should be allowed. Frontier Developments, and even David Braben himself, don't have the answers to every possible question that can be asked.

5. Large Scale events exploding out of nowhere are a complete no go.
We get it. Everyone wants their character to be noticed and for people to be tripping over themselves to interact with them. In some audiences, an introduction involving you blasting in for landing in a fiery wreckage of a ship, before cart wheeling out and sword fighting 35 Ninjas before whisking off with the local celebrity for a glorious night of passion, is in fact, cool. This is not one of those audiences. It is generally considered better to build your character up slowly over time. Eventually, you might even have a legitimate excuse to fight those Ninjas. Maybe even with other RP participants by your side.

6. Perfect characters are boring.
The point of a character arc, is that it is in fact, an arc shape. One who is morally unquestionable, fully kitted out and an infinite fountain of knowledge, cannot go through an arc. Give your character flaws. Be it a tendency towards befriending the wrong people, or a bad knee that frequently gives out at inopportune moments. It gives readers something to latch onto and empathise with. You can give your character exceptional capabilities at something, but it requires balance. She's a damn good pilot with no equal, but can't drive an SRV for peanuts. It can lead to some very interesting moments between characters, be it heartfelt or comedic.

Other Notes:
It should be noted that there can be exceptions to these points. For example, good grammar when a character is speaking is actually rare. Few people in real life actually speak with perfect eloquence after all. Or previously arranged actions during a fight scene, such as someone stumbling back after a punch. What's key to remember is context.

All in all, remember this is purely for fun. We have some seriously talented writers here, and others whose writing history starts and ends at high school. But many are willing to help out in whatever way they can. All it takes is that you ask nicely.

Also keep in mind that many people who RP here, also have logbook stories related to the character, or characters, they portray. If it looks like there's an "in joke" going on that you're unsure of, it's probably in those.

In fact, some users have even gone to the trouble of creating "alts" to RP with. If you read back far enough, it's usually pretty clear who has and hasn't, and which ones are the "alts". It's therefore not unheard of to see the apparent seizing of control of other characters. If you do spot one, point it out in the OOC section. If intervention is needed, it will be sorted quickly and (hopefully) politely.

Most, if not all RP participants here have Logbook stories pertaining to their character(s). These are for the reading pleasure of anyone who wishes to do so. While it can be useful to read them in order to gain a bit of backstory on a character you wish to interact with, it should not be assumed that your character shares that knowledge. Within the E:D Universe, these Logbooks either don't exist, or are private diaries kept by the characters. Either way, without explicit statements to say otherwise from the writer, your interactions should reflect that your character is in the dark about any information you, the writer/reader, have gained from reading the stories.

"Strike beam Beta here, we're away. Seeing some bodies - 'our' guys are dead. No sign of the vehicle you picked up on approach. Going to check the production building first, then the power complex. Check if anyone left any traces. Over."

"Understood - wait, I'm seeing activity. Someone just initiated a download in the hydroponics structure. And - "

I couldn't help but smirk slightly as the console readout shifted to show successful hits from the defense turret on the escort craft, quickly depleting its shields. Given that it was a Krait, those wouldn't hold up for too long, but I still had to worry about the dropship overhead. That was a matter for EDI, but the slow and cumbersome Anaconda would be easy pickings.

"EDI, now is a good moment. I'm going to 'meet' my company, down here."

Meet meant little more than 'Put a lot of bullets into them. I swapped out the mag from my assault rifle and walked over to the nearby entrance, where it appeared the ground team was going to come from. And... sure enough, they did. Because they'd likely be looking to shut down the defenses. On guard, they were also clearly looking for me, but hadn't seen me behind cover... yet. Which would cost them, as I discreetly let a shield disruptor roll out in front of their feet before they could react.

"Shit!"

The electric zap signalled my moment to strike. I poked out, and targeted the closest of the soldiers... who was not exactly expecting my proportions, and apparently not quite disciplined enough to avoid freezing. So he ended up dying, and the second one dropped only moments afterward too, only grazing my shield. The other three had scrambled for cover before I could shoot them. Less ideal than I'd wanted, given my relative lack of mobility. But I could still run, for a short moment.

So instead of continuing to fight in the confined interior, I pulled out a shield projector. Only for a shield disruptor of theirs to land at my feet. It also took too long for my brain to register its presence.

'Well, that is not fun.', and following that thought, my hand moved and managed to throw it just far enough to get it out of immediate shield dropping distance.

it would have to be good enough. I threw the projector into the doorway and quickly lifted myself over the crates I used for cover, kicking off them with my feet to float through the air and get outside, the door barely sliding open quick enough for none of my mass to get stuck on it - which would have been rather embarrassing. The download had already completed, so I needn't go back in there.

"S- someone tell me I've lost it.", one of the three remaining soldiers said. "Was that really something I just saw?"

"Yes, it was, dimwit. Now get after her. She's got the data!"

But they saw nothing upon exiting the building.

"Where the fuck... how do you even manage to hide so quickly when you've got an ass that fat?"

I tapped on my earpiece, my amusement hidden behind the helmet.

"Over here, idiots."

And I came right out of the darkness, where no lights shone, slamming right into one of the team, hard enough to pull them off the ground despite mag boot contact. The trajectory ended in an area with a terminal under an overhead, and a knife in the woman's gut, watching consciousness fade from her already. I yanked it back out and fired a few shots from my pistol in the other direction, then ducked behind another crate. Right in that moment, EDI dropped in with my Phantom, and began to harass the Anaconda, which had been getting into a position to try taking out the AA turret. Which forced it to put its attention elsewhere.

A precisely targeted, guided missile suddenly came out of nowhere and struck the two remaining of the Azimuth team, putting them out of their misery, and indecision.

"Thanks for the help, EDI."

Free from other 'distractions', I put the idling turret to work on the Anaconda, which slipped away, rather than take its chances.

"Ground team is down. I've got to disengage. Escort, report in! Over."

"Can't do shit to cover your escape! That damn turret nearly chewed up my thrusters. They're just barely good enough to not drop down like a rock at any moment."

Well, that covers this.

And Azimuth are still just as incompetent. Couldn't even manage to put up a slight fight against an idiot with fat body features.

Hey, they're fun!

And also really impractical.

I put on a slightly annoyed expression and came away from the overhang, to see my Scorpion nearby. Then I remembered to check the body of the woman - not quite dead yet. Suit emergency medical systems had prevented the stomach injury from being fatal. I ran a quick ID scan - turned out to be the leader of the strike team. Would be good to bring her in... so I brought her with me. And left her to just lie on the floor of the SRV, since I had the second seat removed in order to be able to fit my enlarged self inside.

"EDI. Pickup, please. And arrange for some... medical assistance for our visitor. A cell, too. With signal jammers... maybe forget the key."

"I will arrive shortly. The Anaconda has escaped."

"Let it. They can report their failure. And get shouted at."

A minute or so later, I was onboard the Phantom and with the Azimuth soldier in a stasis pod, where she could stay for now. And I prepared a message on the way back to the carrier.

Hey, Harald(you don't mind me shortening your name, right?)

I found some data. Shipping logs and manifests for somewhere outside this system. Wasn't yet able to find where, some of the folder's corrupted. If you'd like, meet me on my carrier, near the central server room. It seems like I set myself a little data lab up there. All confined, so some of the stuff I mess with does not risk compromising any systems.

There was trouble, too, of course. If I had to guess, Azimuth team. I think they were too shocked at my big body to fight properly, and the only thing that prevented one from getting full chest contact was my armor.

I sent that off, and... thinking back, slightly, I was glad that those additions to my body were quite soft and malleable, such that I could... kind of... crouch behind cover. It just needed to be wide enough to accommodate for my extra size. I triggered the overcharge of the FSD so I could arrive quickly, and not risk being caught out by any more Azimuth ships potentially waiting.

Slipping back to my Scout without a soul catching a whiff, I was on the final stretch to my carrier when Kasumi’s message buzzed in. I listened, and replied.

"Can’t say I’m sold on the name snip, not much shorter, is it? Should’ve called me ‘H’, like the sigh of a ghost… 'cause that’s what I was, a damn specter. In and out, not a trace left behind. Barely any crew there, but all Azimuth cronies, probably daydreaming about their getaway – bags were packed and all. But guess what? I found something, though I can’t make heads or tails of it yet. Let's see what we've got. See you soon on your carrier.”

I changed course and headed straight for the 'Abode'.
01 May 2024, 9:42pm
I was already on my carrier and well underway to my little lab when I received the response to my message. Procedures of providing at least basic medical aid to my captive were already being performed too, so she at least wouldn't die... yet. If I felt generous, I'd potentially let her go afterward.

I decided that, seeing how I'd said where I would be found, I didn't need to reply again, and just went on to start working on data recovery. The relevant docking permissions had already been granted, too, so that wasn't a thing I needed to worry for either. I'd mention the captive once we were both here, since that seemed more appropriate than over a comms channel.

"And I say nobody wants to have that idiot be basically an AI. Like a brain in a jar but worse because you can't just dump it somewhere and be rid of it. But the worst part is probably that he'd be even more insane and no longer limited to what the human body can do. Bastard was already as emotionless, unempathetic and... what's the word... like, he basically already didn't have that thing we half-working humans call ethics anywhere in his brain. Just imagine how much worse all of that would be with him in a machine mind. Or... don't, because that#s the kind of shit which keeps you awake at night."

I breathed deeply, as if to signify a departure from the topic, at least on my end.

"But, really, as much as I get that she - Kasumi - isn't the most social, I think this time it was more just that se didn't want to be anywhere near the Buble in that moment. So I didn't insist on wanting to meet her. Plenty of other days to do it at."

"... and I really might just end up doing that funny thing with these."

Because it'd entered my head randomly again, thinking of Kasumi and her extremely oversized, yet so attractive, features. And my right hand pointed at the lower end of my body while saying that.

(previous)

My ship was barreling towards ‘Abode’ at a breakneck pace, the Drake-class carrier looming ahead, its silhouette already visible to the naked eye despite its dark hue. I kept her steady, initiating the landing sequence with a devil-may-care flick of the wrist. The carrier’s bridge crew buzzed in my ear, granting me a landing pad with a tone that suggested they knew better than to keep a lady waiting.

A few moments later, I touched down with such finesse that my small and light ship didn't even vibrate. I lingered just long enough to feel my ship being pulled into the belly of the landing dock before I strutted out in my Maverick suit, still locked tight, ready to meet up with Kasumi.
01 May 2024, 10:53pm
"Your guest has arrived.", EDI informed me, in that usual factual tone.

"Oh. ... good." I wasn't really too sure what to say to that. Partly because it'd taken me out of my focus on the work. "If she needs help finding the way... point her here. But I said I would be, in this room."

It really wasn't much more than a single room, holding a few displays of data streams or files. I returned my focus to the console in front of me, slightly leaned over it - which presented my back half already due to its quite big size - and began to work it again, to keep an eye on what data my programs could recover... while attempting to not have my breast get in the way too much. At least, it was still somewhat contained within the armor, which I hadn't yet taken off, bar the helmet.
02 May 2024, 9:50am
It took a while, but I finally swaggered into the room where I was supposed to meet Kasumi. And let me tell you, I couldn’t help but think that the jokers who designed these carriers probably never had to work or live in one. How else could you explain these ridiculously long corridors that you gotta trek on foot? On foot!

Blimey, we’re in space, you’d think they’d come up with something better by now. I thought of the old sci-fi films I watch for entertainment, where the spaceships had conveyor belts for people to zip around on, or even proper railway systems. But nope, here we are with our fancy drive systems, zipping across the stars wherever we fancy, but like some big shot probably said once, every journey still starts with the first step. Literally.

My mood perked up a bit when I saw Kasumi was already hard at work, her back to the door.

“Hey Kasumi!” I hollered. But she didn’t even twitch, and it dawned on me that I still had my helmet on with the comms off. Deciding to ditch the now unnecessary headgear, I pulled it off and repeated my greeting.

“Hey Kasumi!”
02 May 2024, 11:44am
I turned my head to look back, the upper body slightly twisting to facilitate the movement as well.

“Oh. Hi.”

Kind of unaware that I still wore armor minus helmet, on top of my suit, which unintentionally highlighted the hip curve a bit more - on top of being leaned over a console - I turned my attention back to the work, waving forward with my left hand.

“Come look here. I have not been able to get much out yet. Only the site name, and a part of a system designation. Shipping logs, for food… maybe for food.”

“I have also found other corrupted data clusters. May not be related, to Azimuth. But, if it is ‘dirty’ corporate info, it could interest you. And I brought back a… ‘guest’, too, if we need something else.”
02 May 2024, 12:43pm
“Interesting, ain’t it? I’m itching to see what you can dig up from those data bits. Sometimes it’s the tiniest details that spill the beans, and every outpost used for a longer period of time requires a lifeline of supplies.”

I approached Kasumi and stood next to her.

"Speaking of outposts… there wasn't much going on at the outpost I was at. I reckon those who ditched it don’t plan on a homecoming - left the whole ops center in ruins. Blasted it to smithereens with explosives. But the place was still under watch, and interestingly, the newest generation of drones were in on the action. Probably for all those crates waiting to hitch a ride out... Mostly Guardian tech, all wrapped up pretty, with shipping logs for the Musashi. Whether that’s the original destination or just a hub because of them abandoning that outpost, I can't say. Oh, and some of it made for an interesting light show when I inspected the content of a crate."

With that, I took out my Profile Analyser and placed it on the table next to us so that Kasumi could read out the stored data.

"You beat me by bringing a guest, but there’s this cloned profile I snagged, belonging to a scientist named Dr. Voss. Doubt he’s mixed up in the project we’re after, but you never know. Can’t hurt to snoop a bit more about the guy, especially since he had the run of the whole complex I was in which granted me access to every room. I suspect that he's coordinating the moving party."

"And here’s the kicker about those crates lined up for pickup - I found one that didn’t match the usual Azimuth stock. It was marked ‘Pharmasapien’. A bit worn, but readable as clear as day. Judging by the packaging foam inside, this crate is ancient compared to the rest. And brace yourself - brimming with AI Relics. Snagged a little something for you to fiddle with."

With a swift move, I plucked one of the data chips I’d pocketed from my suit’s backpack and presented it to Kasumi.
02 May 2024, 1:06pm
“An AI relic?” I took the chip, contemplating it. “I didn’t think Pharmasapien made anything like that.”

Plugging it into the console, I looked up at a camera.

“EDI, analyze, please. But no turning on. We don’t know what is in it. Or if it is friendly.”

An audio cue signalled the acknowledgement of the request. I looked at the other woman again.

“This space is safe, for this kind of thing. Hopefully. Anyway… Guardian stuff reacting to humans by glowing, seems normal. All their things do, even to me.”

“And my guest is a soldier. Not sure what we could get out of her, but she was the only one not riddled with bullets. Only a knife, there.” I pointed at my stomach. “Suit systems kept her alive. So, I thought… why not bring her in. Even if we just get comms or basic access to a facility.”

I switched the console to display mode, and took a generous step or two to the side. So that there was, actually, enough space for us two in front of it.

“But look at this data. The site which shipping logs point to is mentioned by name here. But the exact planet is scrambled, still. And the system name is only partial. Maybe we could also get those out of that soldier I caught.”
02 May 2024, 1:37pm
"I don’t reckon ‘Pharmasapien’ cooked up this batch themselves. My bet is, they scavenged it. This stuff’s rare, but you could stumble upon it, say in Maia - well, at least before those Thargoids showed up. And Azimuth probably inherited the stash from their parent company, a little souvenir from the takeover. But the real kicker is, what in the galaxy does Azimuth need it for?”

“And about that Guardian tech, sure, I get that it reacts this way. Just caught me off guard that it did its dance without any power supply, especially since it’s been yanked from its cozy home and boxed up since god-knows-when…” I clearly didn't expect that, and it surprised me a lot.

I glanced at the display, the one Kasumi was kind enough to share with me.

“Encryption within encryption, concerning the name of the place? Smells like top-tier secrecy to me, and I found a similar double encryption in the crashed Type-10's computer, hiding its destination. But this could also be a wild goose chase, something other than what we’re hunting for. Anyway, if that soldier knows a thing or two, it’d be mighty useful to dig deeper. Since you’ve gone and spared her life and all.”

And here they label us pirates as savage beasts. In truth, we’re more about the mind games, avoiding a bloody tussle whenever we can. After all, the plan is to stay alive and be able to enjoy your loot.

"What do you know about the Musashi, by the way?"
02 May 2024, 1:57pm
“I think the data is actually partially corrupted. Attempts to erase it, completely, but sloppy work. Not done fully, so it can be recovered. And it was hidden in the system quite well, while disguised as a normal operations log.”

I paused, thinking on whether to add more details.

“The team were there to try getting it off the system, I think. At first, it was just pirates, trying to hide their involvement. But those, of course, failed. Then they sent a proper ground team after me. Referring to an ‘Alpha’ and ‘Beta’ site, maybe the two settlements we searched. So that makes me think …” I pointed at the display. “… this is important.”

I thought again.

“The Musashi… not… much. It has been near here for many months, since the announcement of a modified anti-Thargoid weapon. The… multicannon. Further back, history, I read up on… it was originally an Aegis ship. Before they were taken apart because the idiot Salvation, ruined it. It was captured by Azimuth when a Federal Admiral decided to try taking the asteroid station in… what was it… the station is called Hind Mine. But failed, because nobody yet knew it was Azimuth. Or what they would do. And have done.”

“And the soldier will be in a holding cell. After she will no longer die in the next few minutes.”
02 May 2024, 3:06pm
“Oh, didn’t realize you’d run into such fierce resistance... I don't suppose there's anything left of the team...? And all because of some measly data."

I tapped my fingers on the console, eyes narrowing as I considered the situation. "Thing is," I continued, "they never expected to lose control of this system. Caught 'em off guard, it did. But the jackpot, that’s tucked away somewhere else entirely. Everything here is still too new."

I leaned forward, my gaze fixed on the display in front of us. "What we know about this Dawnbreaker project," I said, my tone thoughtful, "is that it’s being pushed to the brink under Hothis. Endgame stuff, you see. And that means one thing: they need more resources. That's where the alpha and beta sites come in. But where’s the personnel and equipment for these sites coming from? And how are they going to replace these sites they just lost? Maybe there will be some increase in communication now that we can monitor."

"And then there’s the question of coordination," I mused. "Those labs Hothis oversees, they’re like the black hole of the operation - sucking in all the goods, researching the hell out of 'em, maybe even building something big. But someone’s pulling the strings so all those sites and efforts add up. And that’s where we will find about the location of the labs themselves."

"What do you actually think about Hothis and her little speech? I'm assuming the worst anyway, but do you think it's possible to blow away entire planets with a beam?"
02 May 2024, 3:49pm
“I think the ‘Blowing planets up’ is just marketing stuff, nonsense. It is ridiculous to think, the energy needed would just be… too much. But it could probably make a big hole into a planet, where a city used to be. Or Thargoid spires. Or maybe a Titan, depending on just how much it can do.”

I left a break between this and my next sentence, to let my thoughts group together more coherently.

“Either way, it is not a good thing. This is not the kind of weapon we would use responsibly. You heard what the idiot said about ‘Taking the fight to Thargoids’. But it would be misused, even outside of that. As for their team… all dead. Except for the soldier I ‘brought back’. And so were the pirates… I don’t think their missing heads, and torn apart chests from the railgun, would count as ‘alive’, at least. But I did recover this, to patch into the comms feed. Maybe you could find something else interesting, in there, if the data was not remotely purged.”

I took the comms device I recovered from one of the pirates and let it float in the air, thanks to the absence of gravity.

“If not, we might find more use out of the suit computer of the Azimuth soldier. I think it is one, anyway, but …” I scratched my head. “I forgot if I checked for any tags suggesting this. Or she could just lead us to a lab if we let her live.”

I looked at my counterpart in this endeavor directly.

“Or you could get convincing. I don’t really like to be violent, and maybe it would not achieve much if I just sat on her. And she already nearly got these into her own body …”

I pointed at my chest.

“Because I slammed her. And, if I didn’t say it already… sorry for still wearing the armor. But, I didn’t remember to take it off before leaving my ship to work here. Except for the helmet. It only has two view ports for both eyes.”
02 May 2024, 8:02pm
“Frankly, I reckon we don’t use any weapon responsibly, as a species in general. But I’ve got a knack for marketing. Sometimes, a fearsome reputation is all you need, and you won’t even have to throw a punch,” I retorted to Kasumi’s observation, with a sly grin.

“However, I doubt this speech is just big talk. Azimuth may seem incompetent at times, but they’re dangerous fools if they are fools at all. They’ve got the means to cause harm… which they’ve already proven plenty,” I said, my voice dripping with disdain.

Then I looked at her, utterly astonished. “Why are you apologizing? I don’t see why it should bother me that you’re still in your armor… I haven’t shed my Maverick suit either.” I even forgot to take off my helmet before I first greeted you, I added in my head..

I reached for the comms device floating between us. “Thanks, I’ll take a look. And the prisoner, I can… take a look at her too, if that’s what you really want,” I said, my tone suggesting I was up for the challenge.

Locking eyes with Kasumi, I asked, “But do you realize what consequences this could have for her?” My gaze was intense, the question hanging heavily in the air between us.
