Woody Bernstein

It will come as no surprise to many in the Silverbacks that Cmdr Don Uggie is in fact an alter-ego for myself, Woody Bernstein. I, on the other hand, am constantly surprised to find myself a member of The Silverbacks.

Back in September of 3303 I was a freelance reporter in Janes Horizons eking out a living by submitting copy to, primarily, the Arexe Sun. Having heard a rumour that Arexe Jet State Company was being supported by an out-of-system group of pilots I was intrigued by the speculation. Rumour claimed the group was one long believed to be disbanded - none other than The Silverbacks.
My investigations convinced me that the rumours were true, but outright proof was difficult to obtain.
It seemed that my investigations presented a threat to Arexe Jet State Company, who didn’t want the fact they relied so heavily on independent Pilots to be common knowledge so, as my journals have recorded, circumstances forced me to leave Arexe and re-train as a Pilot. My plan was to access the Squadron records available to pilots and discover proof that The Silverbacks existed and were operating in Arexe. Even then the idea that I may end up as a member of this legendary Squadron seemed ludicrous.
