CMDR Namita Pear does not use her name as an identifier for her ship's systems. It is instead an alliterative pseudonym drawn from obscure parts of a millenium-gone history, applied just in case someone actually reads her Gal-Blog posts.

Writing about thoughts and events in her far-reaching career as a CMDR of the Pilot's Federation, Pear flies with a copilot under contract with her. His presence during the woman's exploration has earned him a license and rating with the Pilot's federation as well. CMDR Wade Alexander is a blonde, aged man who nonetheless remains very handsome despite his wrinkles, tagging along for the paycheck as well as for the need to fulfill his mother's wish to see the stars.
