CMDR Silas "Evil Creamsicle" Cousland was born OCT 22 3275 to a smuggler Caius Cousland and his mechanic Virana Coran, on the planet Lusardi in the Artume system.

Caius had a very strong personal moral code, which he aspired to instill into his young son. It was this moral code which lead him to a job running weapons to an escaped Slave rebel group to help them win their independence.

Unfortunately, on this run they were interdicted by pirates, and delivered to the Ehecatl system where they were made slaves themselves.
Upon arrival and processing in Ehecatl, the family was to be transported to auction.

During this flight, one of the captors decided he would have his way with Virana. This led Caius into a blind rage, and his adrenaline rush enabled him to rip his chains free from the ship floor and charge into the room after her. Young Silas, at the time 16, only heard the disastrous symphony that took place as the pilot rushed in after him.

Once the noises ceased, Caius emerged, holding Virana in his arms. Blood covering his shirt and his chains.

From there, Caius took control of the Sidewinder they were being transported in and fled Imperial space, all the way to the Chana system.
Upon arrival, and spending a few months establishing themselves on Chana 3, Virana discovered she had become pregnant from the assault.

After Silas was born, Caius and Virana had wanted to have another child, but had been made sterile from radiation after a Frame Shift Drive malfunction during one of his smuggling runs required him to act quickly to keep the ship and the mother of his child from erupting into a fireball. Because of this, they decided to keep the child, Silas' half sister, Kira.

After this, Silas went through a confusing emotional period, but decided that he wanted to join the Federal Navy. Not to stay, but to take advantage of their flight training program and then branch off, carry on his father's legacy by helping those who could not help themselves, and making money to support his parents and his new sister.

He shipped out that week for training. He returned home a year later, on leave between training and deployment, but with the intention of going AWOL to seek out his own destiny.

In the Sidewinder that they had stolen from the Imperial slavers, Silas made his way to Trevithick Dock to restock and refuel before departing to make his name.

Silas eventually met up with a few like-minded CMDRs and formed Vigilia, a traveling band of mercenaries whose motivation is helping those in need, and making a dime at it.
