Princess Eggplant's life began as an imperial slave on a small agricultural settlement on a small moon near the edge of the bubble. She never knew her real family, as they'd been freed soon after she'd been born. Her primary job in the settlement was caring for the eggplants, and so amongst her owners she was simply called Eggplant girl, though her fellow slaves called her Princess Eggplant, in reference to her beauty and the fact that she was quickly put in charge of the eggplants she cared for. Her owners treated her well, promising her and the rest of them their freedom and real jobs if they so choose once they turned 21 and could fly a ship. Princess Eggplant enjoyed it, even if she was a slave, knowing that her freedom would come one day and there were countless "free" people with lives far worse than hers.

Things in her life got rather dramatic the year she turned 19. A minor faction with backing from the Federation started making moves to take control of the small settlement, as it was out preforming their own agriculture stations and settlements in the area and taking their business. They demanded that taxes be paid to them, and Princess Eggplant's owners refused time and again. One day, this group showed up with a small fleet of warships, led by a Federal corvette and issued an ultimatum. Join the federation and pay federal taxes, as well as taxes to this faction, or they wouldn't let any ships land or leave the moon. Her owners refused, and after a week of blockade, the federal faction grew impatient. They launched an attack against the supposedly poorly defended settlement.

The settlement, however, was not quite as defenseless as they had assumed. It had always possessed some ground to air defenses, and when the blockade was initiated there were a decent number of traders that had been trapped and were itching to get out. With a makeshift fleet far larger than had been anticipated, as well as a decent number of combat ships which had been escorting the traders, the fight was long and bloody. By the end of it there weren't any ships with a working FSD left on the moon, multiple ships (including the corvette) had crashed into the settlement, destroying farms and homes, and there were almost no survivors other than about half the slaves that had lived there. The owner survived the fight only to die soon after, but not before putting in his will that any survivors found there be given freedom and what money and assets he had left be given to them. It was 3 long and hungry weeks before another trader came by, saw the wreckage, and decided to help. Multiple commanders from the Pilots Federation came to rescue the surviving slaves, and many of the survivors used their new found freedom and relative wealth to become pilots. Princess Eggplant was one of them, and on that day she made two vows.

First, she would explore the stars she'd always loved to look at from her youth

And second, that she would make the federation pay for what it had done to her home.
