Kari Kerenski was a former political activist from the Buricasses system. Previously she was an officer in the Imperial paramilitary squadron Loren's Legion; she was exiled for attempting to instigate a secessionist plot against the Empire. She was last based in the Carcosa system, pursuing a libertarian agenda through Loren's Reapers, the Colonia-based offshoot of the Legion she once served.

She was a capable leader and pilot who pursued her goals ruthlessly. A meticulous planner and highly secretive, she had an outwardly cold and dour personality. With the few who she allowed close to her, she revealed a grim sense of humour.

Her inspiration came from the late Kahina Loren; a strong-willed woman who had the determination to challenge the machinations of The Club; the heart to shine a beacon of hope for humanity; and the courage to make the ultimate sacrifice in its name.
