Born in 3279 on Eravate 2, Katya is short and slender with a fiery temper and a sarcastic sense of humor that has gotten her into trouble a few times.

Orphaned as a teenager, Katya was taken in by a retired bounty hunter named Old Bill who made his living as a trader.  Old Bill taught her everything he knew about being a pilot and helped her get her license with the Pilots Federation.

Things were going well for the two of them and Katya even managed to start saving up a few credits here and there.  Then one day Katya stayed behind at the station while Old Bill went out on what he said would be "a quick and easy run".  Old Bill never made it back.  The authorities told Katya that he'd been intercepted by pirates and killed.  So there she was, on her own again with just an old, beat up Sidewinder and a few credits for expenses.

At first Katya took off to do a bit of exploring as she didn't want to be around people.  After a short run, she found the emptiness of deep space to not be to her liking so she tried her hand at a bit of trading.  One day though, she was attacked by a pirate while on a run.  Easily defeating the would be pirate, when she arrived at her destination she found she'd earned a decent bounty on the pirate.  Feeling a sense of satisfaction, and perhaps the feeling of getting a bit of revenge for the loss of Old Bill, she then turned to bounty hunting as a welcome distraction from the day to day grind of trading.
