Born from poor parents, Smiley had a rough upbringing. His father was a drug addict and gone into debt with the local crime lords in Willis Point. And his mother had died early on during his childhood. His father would eventually die from an overdose when Smiley was 17. He lived on the streets for a few years and began stealing to survive. He then stole from the wrong person who had hit him so hard that his cheek split open, earning him his scar. After it healed, Smiley turned his life around. Got a real job working as a gunner for a bounty hunter named Blain. Blain took a liking to Smiley and began teaching him all kinds of trades. Even helped him buy his very own ship. A Viper Mark III. Together, Blain and Smiley took on large bounty targets and came away minor injuries. Eventually, their reputations caught up with them. Blain made it out all right. But for Smiley? Not so much. He got kidnapped and was forced to watch them blow up his ship. They then took Smiley to own of the brightest in the galaxy, put on their opaque helmets, and got as close as they could while holding Smileys eyes open, causing him to go blind. That's not something you want, especially living in space and the only mode of transportation is travelling light years between star systems and maneuvering between asteroid belts and pirates. Eventually, Blain tracked down his kidnappers, boarded the ship, and rescued Smiley. He took him to some high tech station and paid for the emergency surgery. Sadly, the station only had 1 replacement eye that was compatible with Smileys DNA. The surgery was a success for the most part. Minus the occasional dizzy spells. Then it was back to being a gunner for Blain till he could afford his own ship again. Smiley did buy a new ship, this time a Type-7 Transporter and he stuck to trading in the G 141-21 system, much safer. Specifically biowaste and wine. After doing this for year after year after year, he had enough to buy himself a new Viper Mk III and even a Type-9 Heavy, with the help of Blain of course. Now, he's just looking for a group of pilots so he can reclaim his lost reputation.
