CMDR Smertkopf was born under unfortunate circumstances, coming into the world on a freighter passing through Aldebaran that was attacked by pirates. His parents were killed, and he was sold into slavery, suffering a life of servitude for the next twenty years.
Eventually, an opportunity to escape his captors presented itself, and young Frank managed to steal a ship and escape from Aldebaran to claim his freedom among the stars.
Now he rides the cosmic tides in search of wealth and fame, seeking to paint his name across the Galaxy in the name of exploration and profit, taking the odd bounty along the way as the opportunity presents.
