Born from BMC (Beacon Maintenance Crew) parents in Sol, Ren is the younger of two siblings. Their family wasn't wealthy and only rarely visited outside the system during his childhood years.

As children, both he and his brother used to copilot the transports to and from the beacons. His brother's pilot skills earned him a Pilots Academy grant by Mother Gaia. A year later, at just 17 years old was his turn, on the same terms.

He completed his practice at LHS 3447 and was handed his pilot badge and Sidewinder at Trevithick Dock, graduating a year after his brother.

By 3305 Ren Solsen was an established Elite trader with accolades and rank from all the three superpowers for his services as an independent pilot. He is married to famed scientist Ter Solsen and has his family quarters in a panoramic deck at Kachian’s Goddard station.

After his wife research was defunded by unknown reasons, the Solsen decided to bring their assets together and fund the Solsen Institute of Galactic Affairs. The secretive organization will be officially functioning at the end of 3305.

Ren Solsen is reportedly invested in running missions to compose the Institute's research codex. Much of the Solsen work remains obscure and the only know affiliation of Ren Solsen is with the Independent Defence Agency.
