Cade Graywing is the scion and only daughter of an Imperial family line high enough for their titles to actually have some meaning but low enough to not be invited to most functions. Stuck in royalty limbo, her parents went to great efforts to groom her to advance the family's fortunes. She joined the Imperial Marines and rose quickly through the ranks, and became disillusioned with her lot in life just as fast. Eventually she decided enough was enough; to her family's horror she mustered out of the Marines and left her family's fortunes behind, taking her retirement pay to buy a factory-fresh Cobra Mk III and head for the stars.

She's never looked back.

Now that she's experienced life outside the Empire she's grown more and more disenchanted with it in general, especially its slavery policies. She tries to stay independent rather than become enmeshed in galactic politics. Even so, she finds herself admiring Aisling Duval for her stand in trying to reform the Empire.
